Festival For Humanity

Just noticed this note posted today on the homepage of the upcoming Festival For Humanity:

May 12th, 2011

To Those Involved With The Festival For Humanity,

It is with sadness that we inform you that the Festival for Humanity has been cancelled.

The founder of the festival, Anders Thueson has been doing everything in his power to secure financing and as of this late hour, the Festival For Humanity will not take place. "The concept of Festival for Humanity was a Celebration of Art and Music to Benefit Charities of Suicide Prevention, Health and Nutrition. I strongly believe we will find a way another way to help those in outreach, education, awareness and funding, this I pledge," says Thueson.

All paid ticket holders will be notified and refunded.
Refund questions: refunds@festivalforhumanity.com
Non-Refund questions: info@festivalforhumanity.com
Phone Inquires: (914) 215-5334
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Best,
The Festival For Humanity Founder
Anders Thueson

Note: The Festival For Humanity was the 'merchant of record' for your transactions

Most people reading this are probably wondering what the Festival For Humanity is (and that's probably part of their problem), but the Vernon, NJ festival's lineup included The New Porngraphers, and, well (another part of their problem...), and Cracker... Third Eye Blind... Sister Hazel... the Misfits... Soul Asylum... Good Charlotte... John Popper... Ok, it was for charity, so that sucks.

>What I really want to know, is my tuna dolphin-safe and is there a festival to address this?

Excellent point my dear friend! Excellent. We both know there's only one soul on this planet capable of determining such facts, as well as rappppping with the best of them. That's right ... your hero and mine = FiShsTiCkS cRyBaBy!

they should have booked kickball katy's massive tits.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 6:47 PM

id check out cracker and the misfits

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 6:49 PM

Should we just cancel summer all together?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:06 PM

it's because the country is bankrupt. if taxes aren't lowered on corporations and the wealthy, you will see a mass exodus of greatness away from this country towards those with rational fiscal policy. for example, goldman sachs only made $13.4 billion in profits last year. in any other sane country that number would be double. how can you support humanity with only $13,400,000,000 to invest in job creation?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:10 PM

Vernon, NJ used to have Action Park which had totally awesome water slides. But really, who the fuck wants to go all the way out there to see a bunch of has beens that never really were?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:12 PM

>they should have booked kickball katy's massive tits.

ha!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:26 PM

"how can you support humanity with only $13,400,000,000 to invest in job creation?"

Fortunately, Goldman contributes mostly to Democrats. So they're totally on team Give A Shit!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:29 PM

Sorry, but listening to those bands seems more like a recipe for suicide.

Posted by GATZ | May 12, 2011 7:39 PM

That line up sucks! I've seen festival lineups suck before, but that lineup is the suckiest bunch of sucks that have ever sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 7:51 PM

Give the guy a break. He was trying to program a festival for a good cause. It didn't work out, and that's a shame. Now go do something for the good of mankind.

Posted by Brian | May 12, 2011 8:27 PM

Sucks to see a bunch of worthless do-nothings make fun of someone who gave 110% to try and do something.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 9:00 PM

Of course it's good news for all yous. One less festival for you to be at. More time for you all to sit at home in the dark and jerk off to internet porn.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 11:15 PM

I for one, was really looking forward to the John Popper solo set.

Posted by barry soetoro | May 12, 2011 11:52 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 12:05 AM

i kid, but truthfully though, it sucks this thing got canned

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 12:39 AM

I would see Cracker over the new pornographers any day of the week. David Lowery still rocks.

Posted by Kyle | May 13, 2011 12:51 AM

should have asked for Kanye to fart on it. can keep a moldy-breeze for at least 2.3. years.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 2:30 AM

12:51 word. Cracker puts on a great show!

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 7:21 AM

6:13

Yeah, like the bands of today are ALL going to be super relevant in 2025. Get a grip.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 8:46 AM

I think that says more about how shit the New Pornographers are——they were far from the best band in that lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 10:05 AM

This comment thread was a bit disappointing. I suppose all the A-list commenters were out on Thursday.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2011 4:29 AM

^ Admit it. You posted that just so you could read it later tonight and drop a load thinking about that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2011 2:10 PM

who wants to see a concert in sleazy jersey anyway?

Posted by jenna | May 15, 2011 9:03 AM

Don't be too sad - only a very miniscule portion was going to charity anyway. It was more of a marketing ploy to get people to come. And yes - what a sucky lineup! Who wants to see old washed up bands?

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2011 12:02 PM

Third Eye Blind are still a band?? LOL

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2011 1:37 PM

"who wants to see a concert in sleazy jersey anyway?"

Uh, Vernon is hardly a sleazy area of Jersey....but since the only exposure you've probably had to the state is the Turnpike from the GWB to Elizabeth you probably wouldn't understand.
