no cannabis corpse?

nice, diverse lineup. not enough to get me to SF tho.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2011 10:37 PM

they should do eight sets if it improved their music...fist

I'm not even that big a Phish fan, but they are 100x the musicians Arcade Fire are. Hell, even Muse are better musicians than AF, though their music isn't as good.

Phish sucks balls dude. I rather get high and listen to Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin, and Wu Tang.

lotta good things in the lineup, lotta bad

Can't believe people listen to Muse. I usually can see the merit in most acts, or at least see why people are into them, but I just can't understand Muse. One of the most godawful acts going. Anyone who listens to them that's over the age of 15 should be ashamed of themselves.

Go Giants!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 5:14 AM

Besides Latryx and Ty Segall, who else is actually from the Bay Area on this bill?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 8:23 AM

I agree with 1:03. If a fair amount of the good bands (esp. Ty Segall, Fresh & Onlys, Mavis Staples, Josh Ritter) all played on one day, then I would definitely go.

I love Muse and I don't understand why other people don't like them.

Posted by Appartamenti Bucarest | May 12, 2011 8:30 AM

Muse is the cheese.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 8:59 AM

I liked Black Keys better when they were Junior Kimbrough.

"I love Muse and I don't understand why other people don't like them."

Because the world already has a Radiohead and they moved on from their '90s period.

My 60 year old mother asked me if I could burn her some Muse. I think that about explains everything.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 9:48 AM

^ yeah your mom needs to get in the digital age. File share bro!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 10:29 AM

Why isn't Barry Bond's Bald Head on this list??!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 10:36 AM

"Because the world already has a Radiohead and they moved on from their '90s period."

This argument hasn't held any water for a LONG time now. What, because both frontman's voices sounded somewhat similar during Muse's early stage?

Yeah, that automatically makes them a Radiohead clone. Find a legitimate reason for your dislike, at least.

Anyway, I don't know what to think of this lineup yet.

Infamous Stringdusters are a band to catch

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 10:44 AM

It'd be cool if the band's name was Infamous Cropdusters.

Muse used to be cool but they totally lost me with their last couple of albums. I did see them live last year because a friend had an extra ticket and I have to say, they're still pretty badass live

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 12:44 PM

First Muse steals the headlining spot from Phish, then they steal the "Those guys suck" argument from Phish on the BV comment section.

Well played Muse.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 1:06 PM

10:38 - re-read the comments. They are telling you what to think of this line up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 1:45 PM

^ I'd rather think for myself, thank you very much.

I like Muse (there, I said it), and feel like their albums so far mirror that HBO show The Wire perfectly:

Showbiz/Wire Season #1 - got my attention; liked it over all
Origin of Symmetry/Wire Season #2 - different, but different good
Absolution/Wire Season #3 - things hit 5th gear; "that's what I was waiting for!"
Black Holes & Revelations/Wire Season #4 - solid effort; loving the good while looking away from the bad
The Resistance/Wire Season #5 - a letdown, but the last four albums/seasons make me not completely hate you

(back to work I guess)

Posted by Funderburgh | May 12, 2011 2:49 PM

isn't this the same bands over and over again?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 3:12 PM

I agree with you on that, 2:49. Except I thought BHAR was their crowning achievement, while Absolution is very close behind.

And I also have a hard time getting into The Wire (mostly cause there is A LOT going on even in a single minute!).

another year watching my lovely public park turn into an boring overpriced privatized shitshow. SF has a vibrant music scene every night of the week, not sure why someone thinks this crap is a good idea other than the droves of suburbanites who make the trek every year.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 4:21 PM

@ 3:21 -

I go back and forth between Absolution and BHandR as well; usually defaults to whichever one I listened to last as the 'favorite'. They're the two hardest/loudest albums though, which is why I favor them and basically only tolerate The Resistance (which is much more soft/melodic by comparison).

Posted by Funderburgh | May 12, 2011 4:35 PM

4:35: Yeah, true. I kinda knew beforehand that The Resistance was gonna be a step down (since topping Aboslution/BHAR is a pretty tall order). It's not a bad record though, but it didn't blow me away.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2011 5:41 PM

Muse sucks so bad it hurts me ears

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 6:34 AM

What a terrible mix.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2011 1:03 PM

Last yr was way better.
