I got two in the presale and tried today just to see if I could get them. I got them, and threw them back.

Webster hall great, $10 heinekens

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:07 AM

@10:07 got fuck yourself

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:10 AM

Webster Hall also has a guy walking around selling $5 cans of beer. Tough to complain about that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:11 AM

Oh there is actually a lot to complain about that guy. It's not only $5 cans of beer but $5 bottles of water as well which is insane.
Worse than that, he annoyingly prowls through the crowd during the show. When it is especially crowded and packed it can be the most annoying intrusion.

I couldn't get tickets but Webster Hall is where it's at. Great venue to see shows. My cousin saw U2 play Webster for their first US show. My grandma went to prohibition parties in the 20's there. That place is the real dealy!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:17 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:19 AM

Posted by jess | May 25, 2011 10:24 AM

How many tix has left to be released today? Two?
And how come the Amex presale had happened yesterday at 5pm without any warning?
What a waste of half an hour it was just now.

CONCERT OF THE DECADE OF THE MILLENIUM IN THE CITY OF THE WORLD OF THE BLACK HOLE

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:26 AM

Tip: Keep trying for a little longer. TM often staggers ticket releases for the first hour or so, putting them out in chunks. Ostensibly to stop scalpers, but who knows if it helps. I once got tickets to a "sold out" Springsteen show 70 minutes after they went on sale.

Posted by Paul | May 25, 2011 10:30 AM

Got tix at 10:25. Fuck Ticketmaster.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:30 AM

I hope he does Call Me Al.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:31 AM

my grandmother told me that she gave paul simon head in the '60s.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:34 AM

@1034 that would shatter my world

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:36 AM

I don't like that beer guy pushing his way through the crowd. It's a concert, not a fucking ball game.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:38 AM

A bot.. a bot.. my left arm for a Ticketmaster bot.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:38 AM

"Do they make 12 string casinos?"

I came here to comment on the guitar as well. Great looking axe.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 10:52 AM

Posted by triv | May 25, 2011 11:16 AM

@11:16am

You shouldn't have just bought one. It was clearly stated that it is will call only. That is your mistake. Please take the time to read in the future.

Thank you.

Posted by triv | May 25, 2011 11:26 AM

Won't somebody please think of the children?!?!?!?

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 11:27 AM

A big f*** you to Ticketmaster for advertising a noon on sale time and later changing it to 10 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 11:37 AM

@ CJ

You know you can cancel your order and get a refund.

According to the TM guarantee:

"We give you three days to change your mind. All tickets for participating venues and teams are fully refundable for 72 hours after purchase, up until one week before the event."

And btw you sound like a huge baby. Can't do anything without your wife?

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 11:41 AM

Webster hall over charges for drinks you friggin muppets. The venue itself/ sound is fine and good.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 12:19 PM

It IS easy being green.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 12:41 PM

I've always been on team "Webster Hall sounds terrible" but I think they've done some upgrades. Last few shows I've seen there have been noticeably better.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 12:51 PM

don't complain. it's paul simon in a club in NYC for 60 dollars. what is wrong with you people.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 1:32 PM

this would've been awesome 40 years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 1:42 PM

CJ, be a man and go to the show yourself or even better just give the ticket to your wife and be like, 'have fun for the both of us.' Stop complaining.

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | May 25, 2011 1:53 PM

Webster Hall is much better after the renovations a few years ago. Before that it was a dump.

However, the key to WH is avoiding shows on club nights. By the encore rolls around, you will hear the dance music from the other floors. Not a problem with rock shows, but an issue with performers like Paul Simon (who is playing on a Monday, mnot a problem).

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 1:56 PM

guitars unplugged in the pic...

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 2:09 PM

is there a way to pick up will call ticket for paul simom, leave the venue and sell it. Cuz it seems like they are being pretty strict with this show. So maybe I can pick up tix at will call the day of the show early and then hopefully sell em by showtime? is that possible?

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 2:54 PM

no 2:54 it the ticketing clearly states that once you pick up your ticket you have to immediately go inside the venue with your +1. Not to pick on you but this kind of comment makes me really angry. I legitimately want to go to this concert but after looking for a ticket both days at 10:05 nothing was available partially because of scalpers like you. The rules are in place to prevent people from marking up the tickets and reselling. BAH!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 4:11 PM

this would've been awesome 40 years ago.

Posted by stock market news | May 25, 2011 4:20 PM

yes but these same rules work against a person who can't go for whatever reason after they purchased a ticket for themselves and legitimately wants to give and/or sell the ticket to a friend or relative. I understand the need to curb scalpers but this can also backfire against a real fan with a ticket who has to lose the money and can not transfer the tickets legitimately.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 4:24 PM

1:56, I don't think Webster usually lets in the club crowd until the show gets out. As far as I can remember, every Thurs-Sat night show I've gone to there has ended by 10.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 4:34 PM

4:24 agreed. I was just more commenting that concerning 2:54 clearly bought the tickets to resell and NOW wants to ask scalper related questions to get our advice. These rules target legitimate scalper practices a lot more than the occational scenario you mentioned. Thank the ridiculous scalping practices for these kind of problems.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 4:37 PM

not for nothin but ticketmaster does give you an option to pay for insurance if you can't go. I suspect the tix then go back on sale. or something. don't worry, ticketmaster still sux.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 5:14 PM

If there is anyone who has an extra PAUL SIMON ticket, willing to buy up to 3 tickets.

Posted by Jim Cap | May 25, 2011 5:32 PM

I went to the show at the Vic in Chicago. There was no "will call" as you usually see it. They just had a list. You got to the front of the line (it was split A-G, H-M and so on) showed your ID, they crossed your name off the list and you walked in. No paper at all. Nothing to resell. I guess it's possible to scalp a ticket, but I can't see how, unless you walk in with the person. I'm sure there will be some of that, but it's not easy to accomplish.

They say they you need ID and credit card, but in Chicago you just needed ID. The line was about 5-10 min long. I had thought this would be a huge fiasco, but it wasn't at all. They even searched bags and gave out drink wristbands in line.

I agree that this system is unfortunate for those who legitimately want to sell a ticket or whose plans change. But it does basically stop scalping. Look at Stubhub. There's nothing there. Why do you think that is? It's a trade off that I'm personally happy to make.

Oh, and the show itself is amazing. I'm so jacked that I have to be in NY that day on business anyway so I get to see it again.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 5:33 PM

This ticketing policy actually violates NY State law ยง 25.30 which requires ticket issuers to provide an ticketing option that is transferable.

And yes there are people SCALPING tickets to this show (see below):

http://www.ticketnetwork.com/tickets/paul-simon--in--new-york-ny.aspx

The scalpers are simply going to meet their clients outside Webster, stand in line, present their ID and say "let this / these people in", then walk away with their profit.

While this ticketing policy has reduced the prevalence of scalping, it does not deter it completely. Further, its restrictive to fans who tried to purchase for family members or friends and cannot be present to walk their friends / family in.

No matter what you do, scalpers will always find a way to circumvent the system!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 7:36 PM

haha,5:33 i actually contacted stubhub and let them know about the ticket policy and that people would be unable to use any ticket sold there. They promptly took off the tickets that were on the site (there were 12 tickets available for 500 dollars each at 11:00 am after the PRESALE)

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 8:04 PM

Just beat stubhub the easy way and put fake tickets up with a visa gift card. yw.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 8:20 PM

7:36 - possibly. But I can tell you that they would not have been able to get their clients in in Chicago. The guys at the door were professional and careful.

And even if you are right, the fact that they officially cannot do this will deter many buyers from trying. Who would pay a scalper hundreds in advance without knowing 100% you can get it? Some. But not nearly as many.

And it's true there are some on Ticketnetwork and I'm sure some scalpers can and will circumvent. But it helps quite a bit - I'll guess 90-95% reduction in scalpers when shows are ticketless like this.
