Peelander-Z
Peelander-Z

Peelander-Z brightened up The Studio at Webster Hall on Saturday, 5/6, with a set of their effervescent pop-punk alongside Friends & Hard Nips. Pictures from the NYC show adorn this post.

Peelander-Z's next officially scheduled rendez-vous in the NYC area will be part of Vans Warped Tour 2011. They'll play all festival dates from 7/20-2/29 including Nassau Coliseum on 7/23 (tickets) and Monmouth Park Raceway in Oceanport, NJ on 7/24 (tickets).

And though Peelander-Z have no proper NYC dates on the calendar, they did announce another special event at the Studio. As you can see in the pictures above, "Sister of Peelander" Peewonder-Z... well, exist, and you can catch them at Death By Audio on June 9th with Peelander-Z side project Black Cherry (comprised of Green and Red) and DJ Yellow. What are Peewonder-Z? We think they may have said they are a Peelander-Z cover band. Stay tuned for more details or just show up to DbA on 6/9 to find out. Update: Facebook invite created.

Hard Nips and Friends both have NYC shows coming up soon, and both at 285 Kent. Friends play with Dan Deacon on May 21st. Hard Nips play with Quintron & Miss Pussycat on May 28th.

More pictures and a video from The Studio are below.

really? There wasn't some local night at Crash Mansion or R Bar you could have been covering?

Weirdly bottom of the barrel for this site.

I thought this was some joke band out the movie Zoolander. Is it real?

An enticing blend of Gleetard and hipster douchenozzlery.

This is my worst nightmare. If there was a gun to my head and they said, you could go to this concert or see KE$HA, I might just choose KE$HA.

Above commenters are what, first-time visitors to this site AND allergic to fun? Peelander's been playing the city for something like a decade. How long does it take NYC n00bs to unshrug their arms and learn to have a blast?

"How long does it take NYC n00bs to unshrug their arms and learn to have a blast?"

Well, for starters, having a blast is rather subjective. And as to this n00b crap, my friends and I were making fun of zombies at Save The Robots when you were still jerking it to your Saved By The Bell poster back in Kansas.

Peelander-Z are flat out awesome. Not pretentious at all, and their fans are all nerdos in the best way possible. I've done lots of events with them and it's more fun each time. Don't see how "hipster" applies (apparently they're too big to be local playing at The Studio?), but if it does kudos to them for being considered chic, something they aren't going for at all.

Do those guys have real jobs? I'm not hatin', I'm just curious as to what they do during the day in order to make a living.

Someone came on here to insinuate the Studio is not local band hell with the occasional national band?

I guess i have to give these bands more credit for having a rabid street team, or enthusiastic mothers.

They should at least pee on the crowd. That would be hot.

I totally agree. 2:52 PM who I guess knows what keisha (oh you spell that marketing gimmick with a dollar sign?) is so he lives in the commercial world.

Who doesn't like the lighthearted fun of Hard Nips.

hanging from lighting truss = bad idea

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2011 12:08 PM

Hahaha if Peelander-z is hipster, I really don't know what isn't.
Having a blast is subjective, but I assure you everyone above would have a blast at one of their shows... If they could forget about being pretentious assholes for a little while.

I wish I could be there.
