Soundgarden

Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together - exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!

Loudest of Love,

Ben, Chris, Kim and Matt

Until we hear that new material, we'll have to either settle for Live on I-5 (a new live album recorded in 1996) or catch Soundgarden on the road this summer! The reunited Seattle band will hit the road for select North American dates with support from Coheed & Cambria on some dates and The Mars Volta on others.

Coheed & Cambria (who is also scheduled to play a free show at Williamsburg Waterfront) will join Soundgarden at both NYC-area dates, July 8th at Prudential Center in Neark and July 9th at Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, NY. Tickets for Prudential Center and Jones beach go on Fan Presale at 9AM and 7AM PDT (aka noon and 10AM EST) respectively, while regular sale for both Prudential Center and Jones Beach kicks off at 10AM on 5/13. They also play Mohegan Sun in CT on July 6th and the Borgata in Atlantic City on July 14th. All dates are listed below.

The Mars Volta play the Atlantic City date, but neither of the NYC-area shows, so maybe they'll announce their own NYC show soon? Omar and Cedric last played NYC together in March.

In related news, Kim Thayil of Soundgarden recently contributed guitar to the new record by A Storm of Light, As The Valley of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade. Check out that track/a recent interview with Josh Graham.

All tour dates, some with Queens of the Stone Age and Meat Puppets too, are listed below...

Jones Beach! Prudential Center! Fuck! h8 you long island. Die pls NJ.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 5:43 PM

Why exactly do you hate LI and NJ? Because Sound Garden & Coheed & Cambria are playing there? Your a wet douche bag!

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 5:48 PM

If EVER there was a definition of a cash grab, this is it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 5:49 PM

Seattle Vegan! It's so good to have you back.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 5:53 PM

Whatever, I'll do the Prudential Center. At least we can have some GA there.

Unlike at Jones Beach where there is no alcohol or GA (i.e. "no fun").

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 5:54 PM

qotsa, mastodon and fucking meat puppets...this would have been awesome..anyway, i'm there ga at prudential...

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:07 PM

Wow can't wait.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:09 PM

Damn, that Gorge show sounds fun

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:20 PM

Will take the trip to Penns Landing. GA and Mars Volta. Will be better than Prudentail and Jones Beach.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:28 PM

does anybody care anymore?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:30 PM

The sound at Jones beach can be pretty bad too, when the wind picks up. I recommend no one go to this. These are not the tickets you seek...

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 6:41 PM

I like soundgarden, but a dream would be a chickpea garden. I'd water it and weed it daily if only I had a yard.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 7:23 PM

im tellin ya.. whoever books those jones beach shows finally has their heads out of their asses.. sucks that coheed and cambria are playing with soundgarden though.. definitely wouldve died if it was Soundgarden, QOTSA, Mastadon, and the Meat Puppets.. jeez..

i might hit up Penns Landing to see Mars Volta though.. i saw a very wet Flaming Lips show there in 09, and its definitely a nice spot, granted a hurricane doesnt come through and wash everyone away.

Prudential > Jones Beach

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 7:48 PM

No Austin date?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 8:37 PM

god I wish QotSA, Mastodon, and the Meat Puppets were opening locally, unreal group

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 9:52 PM

I'll go to see QOTSA...otherwise Fuck Em

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 10:37 PM

Why all the hate? Oh I forgot, hipsters hate rock music.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 11:27 PM

Soundgarden destroys hipsters

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:25 AM

no austin date because all the hipsters spent all their concert cash at sxsw

and besides, your town is only cool one week a year

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 8:19 AM

^no Austin is pretty cool all year round. They get tons of show all year and have a great scene.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:16 AM

I thought hipsters had their parents cash to spend on concerts

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:18 AM

Even this band's return will still never justify neither Cornell's solo career nor Audioslave.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:21 AM

awesome I have to be near AC that week was hoping something good would be playing!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:31 AM

i do not read austin vegan, so it really is just a second rate town

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:44 AM

Agh, Coheed & Cambria. I'd rather see Mars Volta. I'd also rather see Soundgarden at a decent NYC area venue

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:57 AM

Wow, a big fuck you to NYC. They canceled their last NYC show back in the '90s, now they skip the city all together and have Coheed and Cambria open while the rest of the country gets better openers?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:58 AM

"Jones Beach! Prudential Center! Fuck! h8 you long island. Die pls NJ."

Meanwhile, when someone says something about not being able to make it to a show in the city or BK because of commute/time constraints/work early the next morning, the trendies in Williamsburg always say something like "Have a good ride back to New Jersey/Long Island/whatever...".

Back at ya.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:02 AM

IT IS SO EASY TO RIDE THE PATH TO NEWARK! Easier to get there than most venues in Manhattan while in Manhattan. Direct from WTC one easy switch in JC from Midtown...how much easier can it get!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:05 AM

Coheed and Mars Volta, eh?

I'd rather have Captain and Tennille and Bread open then these clowns.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:06 AM

the very thought of entering New Jersey send chills down my spine.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:16 AM

i'm going to the out of town shows. Nothing against Coheed, but Soundgarden and Mars Volta, in Atlantic City or Philly or DC suburbs. Yep, all over that!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:16 AM

10:16..great no one wants you here...stay in Williamsburg everything will be alright.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:23 AM

It's The Gorge in Washington, Not "George Washington".

hey 10:06, what's wrong with Bread?

Posted by The Mighty KC | May 6, 2011 10:23 AM

10:16. NJ has two shows..suck it!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:24 AM

"Direct from WTC one easy switch in JC from Midtown...how much easier can it get!"

You are assuming people live right next to the PATH. Considering it would take me (and I assume many others) two different subways to get to WTC, that would mean 3-4 different trains just to get to a concert.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:28 AM

"i'm going to the out of town shows. Nothing against Coheed, but Soundgarden and Mars Volta, in Atlantic City or Philly or DC suburbs. Yep, all over that!"

If the AC show was on a weekend, I woud definitely go to that one. But seriously. Coheed and Cambria? That is a big fuck you to NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:30 AM

10:23: Nothing. Bread rules. David Gates is a fucking gangsta' (much like Elliot Offen)

The Big 4 (of metal, grunge and rap combined!) ain't got shit on Bread!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:30 AM

10:28...as I also wrote one easy switch from Midtown...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:33 AM

Can also take NJ Transit from Penn Station which involves no switching...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:34 AM

"I'd rather have Captain and Tennille and Bread open then these clowns."

I'd rather have Captain and Tennille and a backup for O'Neal open then these clowns.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:35 AM

11:27 PM : exactly

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:36 AM

"the very thought of entering New Jersey send chills down my spine."

Oh, come on, I just moved here, we're not that bad. We don't bite.

It isn't THAT hard to get to Jersey. But who knows, you may even need to rent a car!!! AHHHHH! The horror!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:37 AM

Coheed and Cambria is my faaaaavorite.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:06 AM

^ Is still have a hard time accepting the fact that Richard Christy likes Coheed of all bands. Oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:13 AM

If you hate NJ please dont come.We will be fine without you

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:19 AM

All roads out of Manhattan/LI lead to Jersey MWAAHAHAHAHAH!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:22 AM

"If you hate NJ please dont come.We will be fine without you"

Don't worry about those imbeciles. They're probably from some other state, not New York. I honestly don't think New Yorkers and Jerseyites have that much contempt for each other anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:27 AM

^They do if they are immature..

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:33 AM

Devils and Rangers fans do!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:34 AM

11:33 + 11:34: Yeah, that is true.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:37 AM

11:22 apparently hasn't heard of Westchester or CT

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:11 PM

People who bash Jersey simply do not know it well enough. The diners, the malls, the turnpike, garden state, route 17, the shore, the boss, JBJ, the list goes on...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:27 PM

"I honestly don't think New Yorkers and Jerseyites have that much contempt for each other anyway."

As a nativer NYCer, I much rather prefer a Jerseyite and not yet another hipster from the midwest. We get it, Ohio sucks, but please choose somewhere else to move to.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:29 PM

^ I agree.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:54 PM

"People who bash Jersey simply do not know it well enough. The diners, the malls, the turnpike, garden state, route 17, the shore, the list goes on..."

There ya go.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:56 PM

12:29 ftw

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 1:12 PM

Mah grandson, Rusty...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 1:28 PM

Absolutely about Midwest-hip-sters.

At least Jersey knows its place.

Hipsters from other (can we start calling them midsters?), unknown parts of the U.S. feel like they have to front and pose and get all aggro about being visitors here.

REMINDER: you will ALWAYS be from the midwest, or west, or CA, or the northwest, AS LONG AS YOU LIVE HERE.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 3:07 PM

^ I pretty much agree.

Ever notice that in NY/the city/whathaveyou the ones raised here are mostly approachable and friendly (in a non-BS way), and the ones that moved into the city from somewhere else are nice, but somewhat dismissive and try to pull that "I'm better than you, so I'll pretend you are not there" attitude?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 3:35 PM

12:11 You win this time Gadget!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 3:53 PM

11:13 - I am so with you. I cannot understand that for the life of me.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 4:53 PM

we (born and bred New Yorkers) are the nicest folks in the world. as long as you don't move here and act like the city is now complete since you have moved here. then we look upon you, and all the cool translplants also look upon you, as a fool and a tool.

when you are gone in 2-3 years, the city will still be the gritty city.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:07 PM

no NYC shows? fuck, fuck, fuck

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2011 1:54 PM

For everyone annoyed that they aren't playing a NYC-proper venue, remember that MSG is closed for renovations all summer. All of these venues in other cities are 10,000+ capacity, and I'd much rather have newark and jones beach to choose from than Nassau, Izod, or 2-3 nights at T5. Right???
