Beer & Cable @ the Acheron
Beer & Cable

Saturday was also the day Bushwick venue The Acheron celebrated one year of depravity with a block party of sorts, an eight band bill featuring a barbecue that kicked off at 5PM that day. After Coliseum at Public Assembly, I managed to scoot over to catch the tail end of the show featuring beer-soaked performances from Beer & Cable, Defeatist & Batillus. Pictures and a video from that show are, below...

wow. out of everything that happened this is what gets covered. maybe take down your metal section, its really quite bogus. does this site care about local metal? try harder. deth to the web...props to the girls and guys who give a shit

Great friggin' show! anyone claiming otherwise probably had their head up the ass at a T5 show or something. This was by far the best thing happening all weekend.

Hey 1:36. This was actually the last 2 -3 hours of show, I went to a show earlier that night with Coliseum. I got there at 12:15. In all, three shows in two days... one of which had all locals.

And besides, I see absolutely nothing wrong with supporting my local scene.

Thanks for reading!

brooklynvegan's metal coverage is hardly in support of the tru local scene. Dig deeper, or maybe ask someone with better taste what's hot right now.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2011 4:24 PM

So what is hot right now? And if you know so much better than why dont you do something about it?

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2011 4:48 PM

oh that ghost band is so hot right now, are they gonna tour with minus the bear soon...lets hope

Minus the metal guy image front guy, batillus doom metal thing would receive a hell of a lot less attention. Too much posturing. Almost as bad as the turn some hardcore punk bands took with thrash in the late 80's.

Batillus is awesome and their vocalist is super talented.

@1:36 and 4:24. I challenge you to tell me what "tru" local metal acts don't play at the Acheron, and how this isn't supporting the local metal scene. I call bullshit. We're the only all-ages, DIY venue (not loft) in new york devoted to underground metal and punk. If your favorite KVLT bands haven't played here, it's because they haven't approached us, or they act like pricks. I support the local and touring bands that work hard, play well and make punk & metal happen. Thanks BBG and the crew for documenting this EPIC party. Can't wait to do another one!!

@1:36 and any other haters: This show was so much fun and it was such a great crew of people that came out to support the entire day. I'm grateful that a place like the Acheron exists in our neighborhood. Most of us were partying and watching in awe of the newer bands like Trechgrinder to take shots. We're gonna keep them our secret. Hidden from people that were too lazy to come out. If your band was worth a damn than don't worry, people find out about you but in the meantime I wanna support and continue to nurture the bands that have gotten to the modest level that they have and continue to watch them grow. Congrats to everyone involved in The Acheron and thank you!
