Weezer @ Roseland Ballroom in 2010 (more by Chris La Putt)
Weezer

Yeasayer head out on tour later this month with the Smith Westerns and Hush Hush. That tour concludes with a sold out show at Terminal 5 in NYC. Yeasayer appear at Camp Bisco less than a month later.

Weezer are playing a handful of dates later in May including radio station shows in Philly & DC, a gig in Atlantic City, and B.O.M.B. Fest in CT. They'll also be keeping busy for most of the summer.

The Flaming Lips also have shows scheduled in May in addition to various summer shows that have been popping up all over the place, Hopscotch in North Carolina, the Osheaga Festival in Montreal, and Atlantic City as part of the Dave Matthews Band Caravan included.

Weezer, The Flaming Lips and Yeasayer will share a bill at PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ on July 28th and at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on July 29th. Tickets for both shows go on sale Saturday morning, 5/7, at 10am.

I rather see the Flaming Lips play at the DMB hippy festival than with Weezer at Jones Beach. And Yeasayer? Ugh.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:42 AM

Weezer at Jones Beach sounds even more white than the time I saw the Roots open for 311 at Jones Beach. yech...

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:44 AM

what a strange combo

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:44 AM

OPENING FOR WEEZER?

Flaming Lips you headlined MSG on your own. You're better than this.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:44 AM

How is Weezer gonna go from touring with Blink 182 and Free Energy, to the Flaming Lips and Yeasayer? Does this mean Pitchfork is gonna rate their new album at least a 9.0? Will Rivers Cuomo and Wayne Coyne do a really bizarre duet together? What does it all meannnnnnnn???

Posted by Adam | May 3, 2011 10:47 AM

When did the Flaming Lips headling MSG? I know the opened for Wilco on New Years.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:47 AM

What in God's name is happening here? Flaming Lips opening for Weezer?!?!

Weezer's target demographic these days is 12 year old girls. Flips appeal to the middle aged burn-outs and hipsters weirdos. Bad bill.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:53 AM

Can't wait for a gummy skull featuring duets of lil wayne songs from weezer and the flaming lips

UM no. The Flaming Lips opened for Wilco at MSG on new year's eve.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:57 AM

Biggest local venue the Lips ever played was Central Park (not counting Lollazpalooza).

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:02 AM

Didn't fans raise like 10MM to get Weezer to quit?! What, they couldn't even do that right? This band needs to call it a day already. Probably one of the corniest bands in the past decade.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:03 AM

I really meant headlined.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:03 AM

all the 14 yr olds on BV have never heard the Blue Album or Pinkerton.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:11 AM

When Rivers Cuomo is 64 will he still be singing about high-school aged girls?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:14 AM

How has no one mentioned yet that the cheap seats cost $75? You wanna get close to the stage, it's $107! Ridiculous.

Posted by Paul | May 3, 2011 11:15 AM

Disappointed in Wayne and Co. Just give us a headlining Soft Bulletin date already. Weezer??? Dave Matthews Band????? Gimme a break!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:20 AM

11:11 yeah, cause they suck.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:40 AM

WHAAAAAA Wow, I love you Weezer before the Green Album but really? Flaming Lips opening for them? Blasphemy!

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | May 3, 2011 11:52 AM

you are all going to go to this, see you there.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 11:55 AM

lol @ 10:44, the Roots. Easily the whitest hip hop this side of town.

And then crappy hippie festivals book them and something from Definite Juxx(Not raggin on the Juxx though), and all of a sudden the lineup is "diverse" and has some hip hop also to mix it up. Roots are the Jokiest of Jokes.

Posted by Stephen Whitfield | May 3, 2011 12:04 PM

"lol @ 10:44, the Roots. Easily the whitest hip hop this side of town."

You forgot about A Tribe Call Quest. White people love that band!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 12:16 PM

Cool. 3 more bands put toghether for a show I can avoid completely.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 12:26 PM

SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 12:53 PM

unlike all the super cool kids on here I actually like weezer, and they're always a great live. But Jones beach kind if sucks. The sound is shit and its always fun getting harassed by their tough guy security for drinking a beer in the parking lot.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 1:01 PM

When Rivers Cuomo is 64 he will be singing about asian school girls.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 1:37 PM

holy fuck at the prices for this.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 1:43 PM

Weezer's live show pulls heavily from Blue Album and Pinkerton and therefore will always be solid. Suck it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 1:54 PM

Lawn tickets $25 at PNC...not bad for Weezer and Flaming Lips..

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 2:06 PM

PNC is a pain in the ass.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 2:40 PM

does this mean the flaming lips aren't going to do a "soft bulletin" show in NYC. Cause if so, that would suck.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 2:45 PM

2:40 PNC is scads easier than Jones Beach...you got to go local roads chief!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 2:56 PM

as a long time Long Islander, as much as a friggin hate jones beach sometimes, it is kind of nice that three incredible bands, all who have (at some point) put out mindblowing albums, are practically playing in my backyard. thats one of the things i kind of love about LI, and think that there is actually just a little bit of hope here...

at least rivers finally realizes that people will go to see him if he embraces pinkerton/blue album material... and i bet the Flaming Lips will definitely make up for weezers notably poor live performance.. but geffen turned them into a band that would be ideal for venues just like Jones Beach.. They're the kind of band that relys on a good crowd to sing the tunes anyway.. and what better crowd to get to sing weezer tunes to than a flaming lips crowd? im glad Jones Beach is finally stepping up their game with decent beach shows at least.. now lets see if they can get their shitty ass soundsystem updated. oh yeah, and yeasayer is an excellent addition as an opener on this bill as well.

Posted by Will | May 3, 2011 3:30 PM

Will, do you even know what the hell you are talking about?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 3:40 PM

Why the fuck are you bitches surprised by this match-up? If you were true Lips fans you would have known that they toured with Candlebox in '94. So shut the fuck up and thank your lucky stars that Weezer doesn't cultivate the type of fans who would kick your skinny ass.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 5:19 PM

Flaming Lips were great on 90210

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2011 10:27 PM

But Candlebox were at their prime in '94. Then again, so were the Flaming Lips.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 8:36 AM

^Candlebox were "Far Behind" the Lips in my opinion.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 9:29 AM

Will explained his opinion clearly. You do did not saying anything actually. And he used a name instead of hiding behind annon to diss. (you are weak)

This is a much better bill than poison/cinderalla or whatever crap they were peddling last year.

I actually like the idea of being by the beach on a friday night with yeasayer and the Lips (weather permitting). You care about the crowd makeup so much because you are alone and lonely and need to rely on total strangers for happiness.

And with Weezer closing the show it will be much easier to drive on outta there ...or find nice sand dune.

Posted by Burg | May 4, 2011 9:35 AM

"And YOU used a name instead of hiding behind annon to diss. (you are weak) "

Whoops ...

Posted by Burg | May 4, 2011 9:36 AM

flaming lips are going on last, weezer will be on before them

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 9:56 AM

^ Doubt that...

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 10:13 AM

its posted on their website. they are playing equal set lengths, but weezer is opening.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 10:31 AM

It will be quiet empty then after Weezer..the kiddies won't stick around for the lips...

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 10:42 AM

10:31...I am going to admit it. I am wrong...Can't believe the lips are ending...they are to big for those venues to be playing last...Will be able to score cheap tickets for this fiasco! Thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 10:45 AM

no problem, just wanted to pass along the correct info. enjoy if you do go!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 12:45 PM

I meant the Lips aren't big enough to headline...yeah I may just go last minute...I am thinking $10 scores a ticketon the lawn on ebay

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 1:07 PM

What's a man gotta do to get something to dip a baby carrot into around here?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2011 4:56 PM

go Burg

Posted by Will | May 5, 2011 2:48 AM

Pitchfork is gonna rate their new album at least a 9.0? Will Rivers Cuomo and Wayne Coyne do a really bizarre duet together?
