E-Book company Copia is offering a free download of "Revolution in the Air - The Songs of Bob Dylan, 1957-1973", a 482-page, song-by-song guide to Dylan's work from 1957-1973 by noted Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin. I am told that "you have to sign up for an account but otherwise no strings attached."

Sea Lions are still here.

Bettye LaVette begins her residency at Cafe Carlyle.

The Daemonia show at Santos Party House tonight is cancelled. Wolf Eyes plays Silent Barn instead.

We're giving away tickets Stornoway's upcoming show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, on Facebook.

La Blogotheque released a new Take Away Show with Battles who recently released a sorta-NSFW video for "Ice Cream". You can watch both, below...

What else?

WHY IS THE NEW ARCTIC MONKEYS ALBUM SO TERRIBLE

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:12 PM

Arctic Monkey dude duet with Elvis Costello last night at the Beacon. Really ought to go again tonight. Spinning Songwheel had some great selections

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:13 PM

Keep your eyes on the skies folks. We're fixin' for a serious thunder, rain, wind nightmare later on. If you are going to Rumsey, bring some serious boots and a poncho. Trust us.

Anyone know set times at The Studio at Webster Hall

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:19 PM

I don't care who is playing today. All I can think about is
WHITE DENIM

Not sure why, but I only want to hear and see
WHITE DENIM

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:24 PM

hey anon. 1:12 - maybe because you are deaf as a fucking doorknob?

with 'suck it and see' the arctic monkeys continue their evolution and revolution of their own sound. there are very few writers as clever and inventive as alex turner. but then again, this is ignorantland and music that matters most often falls on deaf ears here.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:29 PM

where have you listened to the new Arctic Monkeys album?

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:31 PM

"there are very few writers as clever and inventive as alex turner"

Whoa slow down there fanboy(or more likely fangirl). You look like a giant idiot making a statement like that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:33 PM

I'm gonna watch that Battles video again

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:33 PM

ARCTIC MONKEYS LEAKED A WHILE AGO.

Hey Adam, It is going to storm at the show tonight not to mention there will be tons of scalpers outside trying to dump the tickets. So if you want I will take those 2 off your hands for $0.00. About as much as they are worth

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:48 PM

i prefere dark denim as well.

however, the reason why i'm typing in this little box is plain and simple: bv grammar sucks yo.

biographer Clinton Heylin

wrong! you need a comma after the word "biographer" in that sentence.

jonny and his tele are getting upset.

My propeller won’t spin and I can’t get it started on my own…when are you arriving?

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:55 PM

"WHY ARE THE ARCTIC MONKEYS SO TERRIBLE?"

Your guess is as good as mine.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 1:56 PM

"the arctic monkeys continue their evolution and revolution of their own sound. there are very few writers as clever and inventive as alex turner."

1:29, did you submit a sample of your work to Billboard Magazine? You would be an ideal candidate to write capsule reviews. Your little blurb may even get picked up to be a little sticker on the plastic packaging of the LP!

Uh, there's that Dylan Fest at Bowery Thursday and Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 2:41 PM

The first Arctic Monkeys record was pretty boring. I haven't even bothered with the rest.

bonnaroo is in two weeks

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 5:15 PM

WOW. JellyNYC pulls it out of their ass and saves the free summer shows. Rock Beach looks like something great!

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 5:31 PM

wow did jelly employees get more trust fund $$$ this year?

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 6:17 PM

Gothamist: "Update: The Rock Beach's World Wide Website has now been taken down, as it was actually not meant for public consumption. We've also been contacted by Fleet Foxes' camp, who've stated they haven't committed to any shows at Floyd Bennet Field."

The Lineup isn't even out yet and Jelly already managed to score 2 major fuckups HOLY CRAP THESE BROS NEVER LET ME DOWN

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 6:52 PM

from BrooklynVegan's twitter:
"to quote JellyNYC, the info floating around about shows at Rock Beach is "incorrect and misleading.""
and:
"I've double confirmed with a few bands listed on the Rock Beach "lineup" and they are definitely not playing it."

"The Lineup isn't even out yet and Jelly already managed to score 2 major fuckups"

Don't blame Jelly. Gothamist and others reported on a proposal document that Jelly sent to potential sponsors. They never announced anything and the bands listed were just representative of the types of bands they would be trying to book.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 7:27 PM

Clearly it's someone else's fault that Jelly put a summer lineup on their website, indicated nowhere that it was tentative, and other people read it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 9:09 PM

10/20/2011 my birthday

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2011 10:17 PM

I am concerned. how will all the hipsters from williamsburg get there? there is no trains nearby.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 12:46 AM

how is it that Simonetti's Daemonia gets cancelled and theres NO MENTION of it ANYWHERE on Santo's Party House website?!? .. made the treck out there and theres NOTHING, not even a sign in the window, and i checked their website before i left.... and how does THIS website find out about the cancellation when Santos never reported it?

also, anyone know why it was cancelled in the first place? pretty bummed out right now

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 5:48 AM

"Clearly it's someone else's fault that Jelly put a summer lineup on their website, indicated nowhere that it was tentative, and other people read it."

Jelly didn't put it on their website. it was a private link. They should have password protected, but anyone that thought that link was an announcement is an idiot. It was clearly a private page meant for potential sponsors.

Last night, Elvis Costello covered Dylan "License To Kill" .... priceless

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 8:21 AM

Last night's Arctic Monkeys/Vaccines show was nothing short of amazing and the weather could not have been better.

Suck it haters, you all missed out.

Posted by Steph | May 25, 2011 11:10 AM

Okay I don't know why BV isn't posting anything about this botched Rock Beach thing, I can only assume it's b/c Jelly pleaded not to. It's BV's responsibility to post every last minor update in the ongoing Jelly saga/debacle/downward spiral and score mad hits/comments.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 11:19 AM

It's not Jelly's fault! Geez youse guys...

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2011 1:04 PM

1:04 yr right. very good point. they always plan things flawlessly and all of their events go on without a hitch.

OH WAIT THEY ARE SCUM.
