Bright Eyes at Sasquatch 2011 (more by Josh Darr)
Bright Eyes

More artists have added Williamsburg Waterfront shows to their summer schedules. Bright Eyes' Radio City opener Wild Flag already have a waterfront show with Sonic Youth and Kurt Vile. Now Conor Oberst and co. have scheduled one too, on August 31. Tickets go on sale Friday (6/3) at noon.

Bright Eyes are keeping pretty busy this summer, touring and playing festivals. They just played Sasquatch, and are also scheduled to play Lollapalooza, ACL, and Music To Know Fest which is in the Hamptons two weeks before they play Brooklyn. All dates are listed below.

The other new Waterfront show, jam band fans will be happy to know, is Athens, Georgia band Widespread Panic who will play the outdoor space on September 17. Hide your wife weed. Tickets go on sale Friday (6/3) at noon.

I am paying $50, payable cash, to anyone who successfully films themselves punching this guy in the face. Offer terminates at the end of his show on 08/31.º

ºYou cannot be associated with Conor Oberst or any part of the production company in any way to redeem this offer.

I get the whole Oberst hate thing. He's annoying, and that hoodie isn't helping matters. But I still think he can write some pretty good songs and whether you want to admit it or not he's shown artistic growth since he first started.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 4:38 PM

I don't think a punch is needed; a hard slap would do. But, seriously good, good idea.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 4:38 PM

oh conner!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 4:56 PM

I heard Stone Temple Pilots might be playing a date there as well.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:03 PM

ugh. widespread panic. why.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:10 PM

I hate Williamsburg Waterfront and AEG Live ALMOST as much as I hate this pussy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:13 PM

widespread panic is so absolutely terrible- and this is coming from someone who is a huge fan of the dead too

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:18 PM

Widespread Panic is absolutely NOT terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:36 PM

Conor Oberst has been making critically acclaimed and very popular music for like 15 years...what have you all been doing?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 5:42 PM

^i've been volunteering for various street teams

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 6:01 PM

I heard Stone Temple Pilots might be playing a date there as well.

Posted by novavax inc | June 1, 2011 6:53 PM

6:01: I laughed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 7:31 PM

Widespread used to be an awesome band, Mike Houser was an incredible and unique guitar player. And they are still a good band.

Jimmy Herring isn't really my thing, but I would honestly still rather see them than 90% of the hipster bs pitchfork ahem Williamsburg promotes.

And J Mascis would not play with and be
one of Dave Schools best friends if he sucked.

Posted by Kyle | June 1, 2011 7:36 PM

I will never understand the Oberst hate. Then again, they hated Dylan in the early 70s.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 8:11 PM

I will never understand the Oberst lovers. Then again, I am not gay and I don't finger my asshole every night.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 9:06 PM

Conor Oberst has made brilliant records, and always puts on a good live show. The People's Key is underrated. See you on the 31st.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 9:29 PM

^ thank you you are a very wise person
I'm so there the 31st

Letting Off the Happiness - Meh
Fevers and Mirrors - Had a good single
Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground - had a good single
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning - Meh
Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and the rest - Pure unadulterated garbage

2 Good singles and a whole lot of meh and trash. There's only so many times you can do a parody of Blood of on the Tracks and get away with it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 10:20 PM

In all honesty, The People's Key is the best album of 2011 so far. Monsters of Folk was garbage.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 10:30 PM

Is it just a coincidence that cocaine and Bright Eyes are popular again in 2011 NYC?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 10:34 PM

Can't wait!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2011 11:49 PM

"In all honesty, The People's Key is the best album of 2011 so far."

In all honesty, you are an idiot who has horrible taste in music. Yes music is subjective and people have different opinions. One thing is not in doubt though which is that you are a clueless douche

I think all the hate has to do with him being called "the next Dylan" when he first came around. And everyone tends to hate young successful people because when they think about what they were doing at 14 it was nothing special, just masterbating a lot. And girls find him cute and sensitive. That's why macho-men want to punch him in the face.

21st Century Schizoid Man

Posted by anon | June 2, 2011 8:14 AM

@10:20 - you certainly know a lot of his records to be such a hater...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 8:58 AM

I saw him at RCMH (twice actually, oops) but it's like I can't not go to this.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:29 AM

Right on, 8:14.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:33 AM

Dylan sucked in the early 70s

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:49 AM

10:20, go back and listen to Lifted. It has a lot more than one single...And I might argue that I'm Wide Awake is actually his best, if your into the folkier side of things.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:58 AM

I'll give you Bright Eyes fans this, Connor is more talented than Chad Kroeger...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:24 AM

@10:24 You don't need to give us nothing! The thing about Bright Eyes fans is that they don't give a shit if you think the music sucks. Liking Bright Eyes hasn't exactly been "cool" for a while so I'm pretty sure we don't care if you don't want to go to the show. I won't try to talk you into it. Promise.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:33 AM

@10:33 - You need to get that sand out of your vagina, you're very irritable.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:43 AM

@10:43 good comeback!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:56 AM

@9:49 - You're joking right? He released "Self Portrait" and "New Morning" in 1970, "Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid" in 1973 and then Planet Waves in 1974. Those albums are all amazing in my opinion.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:56 AM

"Self Portrait" is one of the most critically lambasted albums of Dylan's career. Don't say you like it just to be cool.

People's Key = Album of the Year

I TAKE MY MUSICAL TASTES VRY SRSLY GUYZ

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:28 PM

10:20 - for someone you apparently hate so much you sure have exaustively reviewed his entire catalog.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:48 PM

6:01 FTW

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:58 PM

wow what I find rather funny is that so many people who hate Oberst and his genius songwriting took the time out of their days to read this post, but then to click on it and read further...and then post about it as well...interesting. And to the guy who said Dylan sucked in the early 70's, thats just laughable. I urge you to listen again to New Morning and Plant Waves.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 2:49 PM

King of Limbs>Anything Oberst has ever expelled from his tiny melodramatic brain.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 5:20 PM

If Connor Oberst was talented you wouldn't be able to rearrange the letters in his name to get Boner Consort. There you have it folks, he is the spouse of an erect penis. Game, set, match!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 5:48 PM

Oberst was so much better when he was 13. He went downhill after he wrote Space Invaders.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 7:06 PM

I heard that Oberst was one of Ahnolds bastards. Would explain a lot.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 7:23 PM

The Conor/Dylan comparison is very similar to the Lebron/Jordan comparison. Both Conor and Lebron are the best at what they do. However, they both know this, and they both will go out of their way to let you know this. They have both been labeled prodigies since their early teens and the heir apparent to their respective thrones. Naturally, this will turn many people off to their work. "Haters gonna hate"

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 7:47 PM

All you sexless Oberst lovers make me feel good about myself

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:03 PM

desaparecidos is really good
