Earth

Earth consulted their entire catalog at their appearance with Ô Paon at Le Poisson Rouge on Thursday (6/16). That included material from their much lauded recent Southern Lord release Angels of Darkness Demons of Light 1. The band, who is currently touring on the (considerable) strength of said record, concluded their tour last night in Newport, Kentucky, but will begin a second leg of dates that will focus on the West Coast in July. They're also scheduled to hit both Hopscotch Festival and ATP New Jersey later in the year.

Ô Paon, aka Quebec's Geneviève Castrée aka Woelv, opened all of Earth's recent tour dates, playing what Greg Cristman called "absolutely gorgeous, drifty" tunes that were impressive. Earth, who were similarly great, announced the release of a follow-up LP to their currently release from stage; look for Angels Of Darkness Demons Of Light 2 in November.

Love Earth so much, but they're pretty boring live.

Earth are the elder statesman of the beardo tatoo sausage scene. The secret is though they only suck slightly less than there spawn...

@3:36 THANK YOU!! I saw them open for Pelican a year or so back and I was bored half to death. That being said the have some ok recordings.

also that show is when I started to realize I didn't really like Pelican as much as I thought I did. Then they opened for ISIS at Irving and put out that shitty EP and mediocre album and well that put the nail in the coffin!

^ Yeah, that move to Southern Lord Records (although that label rocks) was all downhill for Pelican. They went from awesome soundscapes to standard post-metal by numbers.
