Totally off topic but the last time I saw Gang Gang Dance play on a boat, there was this incredibly annoying couple talking about TMI info. The entire time, the guy kept asking the girl, "Do you like my 8 inch mast? Do you like my 8 inch mast? Do you want to raise it for me and fill up your stern with it?" Yeah bro, you're cool.

when does the boat usually leave the dock/return for these kind of things?

Wow, comments are so one dimensional on this site. Wish BV would make people sign on and have contact info available for public to view. Bet everyone would play nice like the bunch of pussies that they are.

To some extent, Stereogum forced commentators to register for usernames and the amount of comments on that site plummeted in general. Not sure how well that fared for their site traffic, but seeing that the content of their site isn't what it used to be, I'm guessing not so good. Plus their latest site design looks terrible and too busy.

For people who have gone to these shows...

1) how long do the bands play for?

2) it says 8pm/7pm doors....so 8pm is when it leaves?

This cruise is aboard THE STAR OF PALM BEACH and will depart from Pier 40 -

West Houston at the Hudson River (WEST Side). We will be boarding and

departing at the times listed on your ticket and are not able to allow

refunds if you miss the boat. So don't be late - it sure ain't pretty

to be standin on the dock, watching the party sailing away! There are

cash bars on board so make sure to swing by the ATM on your way to the

boat. There will be food available for purchase. All cruises are 3

hours unless otherwise noted.

literally stopped going to stereogum ever since the redesign. used to read it as much as any other blog. just looks like pitchfork now.

12:47, agreed. They're also late to the party on a lot of stories big time. I have my own blog that I can only update while not at my real job, and even I find myself beating them to the punch with fresh content. They post some relatively original stuff here and there but it's tended to become songs and videos from their nyc band friends who no one cares all that much about. They also keep making lists and cover song mixes to download which in turn is starting to make them look more like teenagers updating their Status Updates rather than music blog journalists.

It may not be all their doing, though, because I think ever since Scott sold it to BUZZMEDIA, they've forced them to become more generic. Amrit used to be a good post writer but I rarely see his stuff anymore, and that Jessica girl has really awful music taste and writing style. Scott has already been paid out so I don't think he cares at this point. Brandon's too busy being metal and hanging out with Bjork.

Its so evident that Gang Gang dance tries so hard to be weird and it comes off so contrived. It could be more cohesive with the music having potential, but it just comes off as pseudo experimental NYC image music.

"pseudo experimental NYC image music"......ha, if your not into that type of thing i'm not quite sure BV is for you. Go listen to The Doors instead or something....they are still better than any contemporary band reported on this website anyway.

its funny to me when people fail to realize that gang gangs been one of the most influential and ripped off new york bands for the last ten years. you probably like yeasayer, florence and the machine, and MIA, but none of them could have found their sound without referencing GGD. do your research before you judge, because YOU are the one who comes off as a late to the game pseudo hipster contrived hater.
