Ivan and Alyosha

Unlike the other two NYC shows they played while in town (including the late one Thursday night at Mercury Lounge), Ivan & Alyosha's lunchtime free show at One New York Plaza in Manhattan on Tuesday was acoustic. A set of pictures from that show continues below...

tourists, stroller moms and Fallon Gong ... great gig

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:29 PM

So a dog, and 30 tourists showed up?

And the tourists did not know who these musicians are. And the poor dog had no choice.

Killer show.

music isnt just for hipsters

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:32 PM

Seriously though, who is this band?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:38 PM

That's not a dog, guys, that's just the latest style in brunchwave!

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:40 PM

Wow does this look boring!

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:40 PM

Ha, I work near New York Plaza. Didn't know this was happening.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:45 PM

that looks surreal.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:48 PM

If I was playing this gig I would be embarrassed that someone took pictures of such a pathetic scene

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 2:54 PM

Is this brunchwave?

Who did this band have to fuck to get so much BV coverage?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 4:01 PM

have any of you guys actually listened to the band? they're really good.

Posted by kyle | June 24, 2011 4:09 PM

So many pictures of white people trying to clap.

I too was wondering why they get so many BV headlines. Happily it led me to the show at WFCtr, before Vijay Iyer's fantastic concert.
They were quite good, but I still wonder why the many mentions.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 4:27 PM

Yeah I like them too, but the number of posts about them in the past week is approaching LCD Soundsystem-esque levels.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 4:28 PM

they got 4 posts while they were in town playing 3 shows. It's not that weird

1) The first post was an update to an old tour dates post and a NYC show reminder and more importantly a correction to previous NYC show info.

That could have been the only post, but:

2) They added a 3rd free surprise show 2 days later happening that night.

3 & 4) Two awesome BV photographers were interested in covering two of the three shows and came up with 2 very different photosets. One of those photosets is in this post. The other was posted exactly one post earlier.

Sometimes it just works out that way.

4:09 is obviously in the band, or writes for BV

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 7:34 PM

ersatz passion

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2011 8:58 PM

Wow, there's a better crowd on the coffee line at Driggs' Starbucks on most mornings - maybe BV should send a photographer out there too for more breaking coverage

There's only one thing I hate more than fucking Boomers, it's a couple of douchenozzles with acoustic guitars playing for a handful of tourists downtown. Quick clogging the sidewalks and get a contract with Bowery Presents to play in clubs.

that dog must be just cataloging ways to get back at his hipster owner for making him suffer through that shit.

tear up the coach? check
shit on the bed, on the pillows? check
knock all the shitty LCD and Kanye CDs on the linoleum floor, then piss all over them? check
run up the phone bill calling 888 sex lines from the back of the Village Voice? check

Those poor hipsters need to learn that bad music has ramifications.

I think the dog is waiting for Lcd houndsystem to come on. Rumor on the street is that frohawk works at a pet-store. During his break, he took one of the dogs to watch the show.
