The Thermals

The Matt & Kim / Thermals tour hit Terminal 5 in NYC last night (6/29). We didn't have a photographer there, but Tim did stop by the Austin show at Stubb's earlier on the tour. Pictures from that show are in this post.

The Thermals headline the Bell House in Brooklyn on Friday night (7/1). Tickets are still on sale!

Did Kim talk about being so nervous that she couldn't stop shitting? Like she did at Music Hall? Very charming.

lets go boys! Contest to see who can make the most fun of these two cause we all know Matt and Kim are one of everyone's favorite punching bags!

I don't know that I've ever seen someone have more fun at his own shows than Westin Glass. The Thermals are a really great live act.

No glow sticks! Denied!

matt & kim and the thermals are fabulous live, they have such energy that i just don't see elsewhere. but kim is such a weirdo. she wins for worst stage banter ever. i've heard her ask people to show their titties. i've heard her ask if people got their vags waxed. she's so odd.

Fuck planet earth

Matt & Kim go away!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 3:58 PM

so cute!

Was Todd P seen diving into a money pit, his reward for helping make these two faux hipster fucks the big name they are? I can't stand Matt & Kim. And yeah, Kim is not only a weirdo but a bitch, too. She gets on stage and acts like she's so hardcore, saying things like, "If you see someone fall down, YOU BETTER FUCKING PICK THEM UP!" Just shut up, you stupid Penn State dropout and stop trying to be so punk rock. You two play nursery rhymes that is adored by what can only be described as the ultimate hipster cliche crowd. Them and their fans, please fall off the face of the Earth, already!

I love them. Everyone stop hating.

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | June 30, 2011 4:16 PM

hipster douche music!

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 4:28 PM

catchy pop songs, but i REALLY can't handle Kim's perma-grin. no drum part (that she plays) is that exciting.

Posted by yes, this is jim, what of it? | June 30, 2011 4:28 PM

This band sucks. Lobotomy rock.

Kim & Meg White have gotten far on little talent. Thank god for gimmicks.

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 4:32 PM

Anyone else see the little kid from the drums video there last night?

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 4:58 PM

Matt & Kim are awful!

Is it too much to ask for a bomb to "accidentally" fall on one of their shows. Also maybe you need a stool or something if you are so short that you have to stand on your instrument that much.

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 5:23 PM

Coincidently, my gf's 6 year old nephew had a piano recital the same night. Both shows had the same level of musical talent.

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 5:31 PM

If Matt & Kim are ever on Saturday Night Live they need to put them in a skit where they're doing super mundane shit like eating dinner or waiting for the bus - all with those SUPER EXCITED looks on their faces.

Don't lump her in with Meg White. Meg was the only good thing about the White Stripes

Posted by Anonymous | June 30, 2011 8:59 PM

happy people make me sad :(

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 12:22 AM

So you hate them...great. Thanks for commenting on a show you didn't see. Very helpful. What foods don't you like? What is your most despised color? I was there and loved the show. Non-stop energy and joy. Sorry you're so bitter.

Posted by worldclassfad | July 1, 2011 1:08 AM

Ah Yes! the Matt and Kim cult smile reminds me of the Palin and Bachmann permanent off smile.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 2:53 AM

it goes away when the batteries die

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 5:10 AM

I want to take a shit on Kim's chest to show her how it feels like to have something there, and also give her a good whiff of what their music sounds like.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 8:24 AM

i can't help put join the pile on of matt & kim. i don't think there are two people on the planet that i don't know personally, but hate more.

Posted by beast | July 1, 2011 9:12 AM

The problem with Matt & Kim and their super happy posicore attitudes and music is that it's gotten to the point where it comes off sounding like they're rubbing it in your face in a very braggy way, and if you're not on their happycore bandwagon, then there's something wrong with you. Their smiles are like the Jack Nicholson version of the Joker.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 9:24 AM

I don't hate Matt & Kim, but I feel a lot better when they're not around

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 9:36 AM

the problem with matt and kim live is that their so fucking schticky. they do the same thing every time they play. it's like the flaming lips but without good songs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 9:39 AM

How is it possible that anyone who has heard their music & worse yet, seen their "show", goes to their concerts?

Worst POS ever.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 10:40 AM

10:40, couldn't agree more. After years and years of hearing about their "incredible" live energy and show, I curiously checked them out when they came nearby one boring weekend. I'd given their music a decent listen beforehand and at best, maybe one song on each albums stick out as a bearable pop song, but it didn't strike me as novel or enjoyable. Thinking perhaps the live show would help me forget that, I went to the show with a friend who is a diehard of them and almost instantaneously regretted the decision. Everything about them sucks. The above-mentioned shtick, the forced feel-good-or-get-the-fuck-out attitude and last but not least, their stupid stupid fans who come out in droves and form push pits thinking they're so crazy and chaotic. I hate to stereotype but I could tell just by looking at the people in the audience that these were the people the entire hipster cliche were based off of: Out of touch with quality music, a commercialized appearance influenced by a faux-chic coolness and just all around narrow-minded fucks who the world would be better off without.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 10:55 AM

it's nice that they've done so well for themselves. this enforced-happy scene makes me ill but at least it keeps these people occupied and not going to the shows i go to.

WHITE PEOPLE

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 4:13 PM

Can someone please tell kim to shut her mouth when she plays drums god she could fit a tamborine in that trap !

Posted by Anonymous | July 3, 2011 10:08 AM

Matt & Kim - drawing the ire of fat mouth-breathing dorks and misanthropic gay men across the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | July 3, 2011 11:19 AM

my only complaint are the ever rising ticket prices to see Matt & Kim. I agree that all women should wax their vaginas if not completely bare altogether! haaha
