Gay Pride Parade 2011

Tens of thousands of ecstatic celebrants took to the streets Sunday for New York's Pride March, soaking up an historic equal rights victory.

Floats, politicians and dancers got huge applause all along the parade route.

The real focus was clear: Every time a couple marched past wearing tuxedos and wedding gowns, the packed crowd exploded into cheers, hollers and hoots.

Carrying signs that read "Equality For All Families," "Promise Kept!" and "It Does Get Better NY," partiers embodied this year's parade theme: "Proud and Powerful."

They couldn't stop talking about Friday night's landmark 33-29 state Senate vote to legalize gay nups.

Gov. Cuomo signed gay marriage into law five minutes before midnight Friday - and was treated to a hero's welcome Sunday.

Gay marriage goes into effect in a month, and will make New York the sixth - and most populous - state to legalize same-sex weddings, joining Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Iowa - plus the District of Columbia. [NY Daily News]

if you're uncomfortable with 'the gay' and you're in Brooklyn, you're in the wrong borough.

please commute back to where you came from

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2011 12:53 PM

Maybe they are upset (envious) that this community can make such a large family with happiness and pride and put on a fabulous march and party in public, where spectators are full of revelry without being completely drunk to enjoy themselves to go with our camaraderie.
Yea, Brooklyn is not the place for you. Acceptance and love are spreading.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2011 1:33 PM

oh BV comments section, you always suck.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2011 1:36 PM

Or maybe they don't appreciate diversity. Then Brooklyn is definitely not the place for you.

Posted by Lam | June 27, 2011 1:36 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2011 2:51 PM

"Are those "I Do" signs supposed to symbolize anuses?"

I believe 2:18 can answer you on that one, considering he has first hand experience.

what people do with their dicks and holes in the privacy of their homes I don't have a prob w that. to comport oneself in public like some of the extreme homos, personally I think it's a sort of mental affliction.

what's next? nutjob pet lovers wanting to marry their cats and dogs and baboons?
