Okkervil River at The Bell House in 2009 (more by Tim Griffin)
Okkervil River

Okkervil River are currently on tour with Titus Andronicus and Future Islands in support of their recently released album I Am Very Far. The tour hits NYC on June 7 at Terminal 5. Tickets are still available, and you can win a pair on our Facebook. If you can't wait that long, they're also at Toad's Place in CT Saturday night, AND you can watch them play live from Philly at noon TODAY (6/3) courtesy of NPR.com.

I Am Very Far is available now as a CD and Double LP at Okkervil River's online store. The band have also released a hardcover lyrics book. If you haven't heard it yet, we've got a legal download of the track "Rider" off the album. Grab it above. It's the same song they played on Letterman in May. Watch that, along with the official "Wake and Be Fine" video and updated dates, below...

T5 is too big for Okkervil River. Not really digging the new album either. Even with Titus opening this looks like a PASS.

New album is real good dude.

Too bad that show is at T5. Not going to that hellhole.

I like the new album, but I agree with 11:42 about the venue size. The last time around, with Levon Helm, that place couldn't have been more than 60% full. Titus (and Future Islands) are both great, but play the city pretty often. I'd rather pay an extra ten bucks, but catch it at Webster or Wellmont (not that Bowery gave us the option).

Trocadero in Philly is such a better venue for them. Hopping on the train for a weekend away.

Saw them at Webster a few years back. Good show. Once again T5 is a deal-breaker.
