"Still reeling from the Titus Andronicus/Okkervil River show last night. So good! It was so good." - Arielle

"Okkervil River absolutely killed it last night at Terminal 5. Awesome show. Also, apologies to my liver." - David Rosado

Okkervil River's Will Sheff @ Terminal 5
Okkervil River

amNY: You've said you think this is your best record yet. Honestly, isn't that always the case?

Will Sheff: I do think that, and it's never a lie. It's always a reflection of feeling where I am at that time. So, yeah - probably in two years, I'll have completely moved on from this "I Am Very Far" sort of place and be like, "F--- that, let's do some throat singing. That's what I'm into now."

So what feelings did this record reflect?

Will Sheff: It felt like after being an awkward teenager, growing up and becoming an adult. And the word "adult" carries a lot of baggage with it - it's kind of scary, like "adult contemporary." But I always thought of adulthood as really fascinating and complex. That's when people are having affairs and cheating on each other and becoming morally compromised. So this is my creepy, adult, dark, nuanced, having-an-affair record. As opposed to Sting.

Okkervil River, touring in support of their Billboard charting (#31 on the Top 40) new LP I Am Very Far, headlined Terminal 5 last night (6/7) with tour-mates Titus Andronicus (who were just added to the 4Knots lineup) and Future Islands.

Okkervil's set got cut short, possibly due to the venue curfew. At 10:45 the band was given a 15 minute warning, and so they played straight to 11 with no encore break. Unfortunately, if the written setlist is to be believed, that means they had to play much less than planned. The written and actual setlist, and more pictures from the show and dates too, below...

11pm curfew?!?! Add it to the list of T5's suckage.

And Titus Andronicus officially upstaged Okkervil River.

Anyone know the setlist for Titus?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 12:54 PM

future went on at like, 7:50. we showed up around 9 expecting to see titus start and we saw them rolling up cables. they did not waste any fucking time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 12:57 PM

someone get that man a flowbee

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 12:58 PM

setlist for Titus:

some bs
the pogues hate us
punk rock biz practices
hummus in me beard

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:05 PM

16 songs instead of 20 potential songs....

don't blame T5. most venues in ny have 11pm curfew....if you have $$$ like foals/lcd/nin who have played there in the past, you can go past 11pm curfew.....

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:05 PM

>>setlist for Titus:

you forgot the lecture on personal responsibility.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:11 PM

Yuck, really dont like that setlist. Glad I passed on this show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:13 PM

anyone have the Toad's place setlist?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:39 PM

Titus was, I think:

No Future Part 3
Richard II
Titus Andronicus
A More Perfect Union
Titus Andronicus Forever and Ever
Four Score and Seven

...I think that's it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:44 PM

Hopefully they will be back to do a proper (non-T5) show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:46 PM

sucks that we missed out on Red and Westfall

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:52 PM

Will Sheff really has that liberal arts professor costume down pat.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 2:01 PM

i saw titus once last year and thought they sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 2:10 PM

Toad's place set list was almost identical. This list has a couple more tracks on it though. Swap out Black for All the Latest Toughs and no A Girl in Port. No Westfall, instead Wake and Be Fine Was there. So Come Back, I am Waiting is amazing live. See it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 2:21 PM

1:05...what venues have an 11pm curfew?
Maybe your high school does.
T5 sucks and always will.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 2:40 PM

Show of the year. T5 was great.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 3:01 PM

What's with the bros who were loving Titus? Looked like Ronnie from Jersey Shore

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 3:49 PM

Titus was great. High energy straight forward rock and roll.
OR set was very solid. Sound was pretty good for a T5 show.
Lots of dorks in the crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 3:55 PM

It really was a strange collection of people. Maybe even the strangest collection of people. EVER.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 4:01 PM

Lots of 15 year olds moshing up front and gray beardy 60 year olds in the back.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 4:21 PM

1:13 must have the worst fucking taste in Okkervil River songs imaginable as almost all of their best songs are on the list. Boo hoo, not enough from Stand-Ins? Or their first album that no one listens to?

Sucks that they got cut off but nothing that they missed out on playing was as good as 80% of that setlist.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 4:24 PM

The band seemed pretty pissed. Will said on twitter that they'll never play T5 again. I don't blame them, it sucks they had to cut Westfall, Red, and No Key. And yeah, the crowd was a little weird. Didn't plan on having to fend off an army of moshing middle schoolers to keep my spot up front. No comment on how fucking strange the lead singer of Future Islands is?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 10:09 PM

i luv future islands

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:37 AM

I liked Future Islands..One Inch of Dust or something like that. Their second song. Good show and for whatever reason (perhaps I'm old) I didn't mind Terminal5.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:16 PM

There was barely any movement up front, let alone any moshing. Crowd was dead. Show was really good (though short).

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 2:43 PM

FUTURE ISLANDS are fucking amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2011 10:37 PM

I saw them all at the Trocadero in Philly. Titus Andronicus and Okkervil River were both awesome. Future Islands were the worst fucking opening act I've ever seen. I can't believe people actually like them.
