Panda Bear at Governor's Island in 2010 (more by Erez Avissar)
Panda Bear

Panda Bear is playing Music Hall of Williamsburg on July 3, a venue much smaller than last time. According to MHOW's website:

"This show will be will call only. No hard tickets will be issued. There is a 2 ticket limit per person and tickets are non-transferable. Tickets will be available online only. Not available at any outlets."
Tickets go on sale Friday (6/10) at noon. Noah's only other upcoming solo date is as part of a big fest at Hollywood Bowl on September 25th with TV on the Radio, Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint, and Smith Westerns.

In related news, Panda Bear's voice can be heard on the new Zomby album, and Animal Collective has dates coming up too including a sold out show in Prospect Park with Black Dice who also opens the Merriweather Post Pavilion (the venue) show three days earlier. Black Dice also opened for AC in Prospect Park in 2009. Zomby did not.

Check out a new video of Panda Bear's "Slow Motion" directed by Cheryl Dunn spliced with an interview and live footage of his set at Governors Island in 2010, along with more dates, below...

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:31 PM

Nice! Black Dice! Glad they'll be opening once again.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:37 PM

Be prepared not to get any tickets

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:54 PM

what about monkey?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:08 PM

Be prepared to not care about not getting any tickets

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:18 PM

That's too bad. His Gov Island show was the perfect setting for his tunes. At least I got to see it once!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:25 PM

I can't remember (because I can't keep all these indie rock nerds straight) but was Panda Bear the one who's solo set at some festival was completely self indulgent leaving the audience bored or was that another member (or is that just Animal Collective in general)?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:26 PM

At least there's an AmEx presale.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:30 PM

do the AmEx presales ever work if you dont have american express? i know its a stupid question, but i dunno i just want a ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:42 PM

AmEx presale is for card members only.

It's the AmEx preferred seating option where an AmEx isn't necessarily needed (as long as you have the 800 number).

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:48 PM

Yeah, all you Starbucks hipsters that daddy refused to give an AmEx card to ... boo hoo.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:56 PM

@4:56 starbucks hipster? i dont know what that is. you seem great tho.

"07/03 Brooklyn, NY Music Hall of Williamsburg"

Well, I guess I'll pass on this one. Jaga Jazzist is playing the same day.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 5:16 PM

5:16 you are awesome.

Wish I was in town for that show (jaga)

Panda Bear - Nasal singing (the bad kind) , repetitve blipping .. I really wish they were as good as they think they are.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 5:41 PM

would love to say Panda here. hope he adds more dates. Jaga would be awesome to see again, but I actually can't remember any of there songs all these years later

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 6:08 PM

Seeing Panda Bear live is like watching someone masturbate with synthesizers. Its the worst fucking thing in the world.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 6:31 PM

5:41 you are not awesome.

its not "they", its he. and its really good kind of trippy music thats difficult to recreate live because, again, its one person, not a full band. i like it. not everyone does, thats fine. hes not writing to impress jaded hipsters who stopped listening when he wasnt as fashionable anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 7:18 PM

"5:16 you are awesome.

Wish I was in town for that show (jaga)"

Haha, thanks man. Also, pay no mind to 7:18, whoever he/she is.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 8:02 PM

panda cack

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 9:23 PM

"hes not writing to impress jaded hipsters who stopped listening when he wasnt as fashionable anymore."

Actually that's exactly what he's doing.

Frohawk on his twitter account today announced that he won't be attending this. He actually prefers to sit at home in his living room watching Shakira - Rabiosa ft. Pitbull on youtube repeating for six hours.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:26 AM

There should just be a Frohawk news app for the iPhone and what not.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 11:11 AM

Did Frohawk eat BEAAAAAANSSS?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 11:49 AM

think he has any new songs? i doubt it

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 11:49 AM

Two tickets no problem. Thanks, American Express.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 12:01 PM

site went straight from Amex presale to no tickets available at 11 am
no surprises here

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 11:03 AM

Fingers crossed for getting tix at noon.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 11:13 AM

Can't wait until all of you get locked out and go nuts!

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 11:48 AM

tix for Panda still available because nobody can resell them

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:04 PM

SNAGGED TIX! niiiice

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:05 PM

Got 'em.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:07 PM

Not only is this show still not sold out because you cannot resell them, it is also due to the fact that the crazy hype of this guy(and Animal Collective) is over. The reception to Tomboy has been lukewarm at best.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:30 PM

12:30- Haters gon' hate

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:31 PM

Who cares if it is sold out or not. I've never listened to Animal Collective, I'm not really familiar with this guy or any other of his work — I'm a huge fan of the album Tomboy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:32 PM

12:31-"Truthers" gon tell the truth. "It is not hating if it is the truth"

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:48 PM

@12:30 does lukewarm mean that everyone loves it to you? cuz yeah, then its a pretty fucking lukewarm album.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:48 PM

2009 was the BIG year for Animal Collective. So anything after that was expected (at least by me) to die down as far as hype is concerned. This is no different.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 12:50 PM

Yeah 12:49-everyone loves the album. That is why no one is even talking about it anymore and the guy is playing ONE whole show west of the Mississipi and has not even sold it out yet. A 600 person venue I might add. If that is love then please give me none of it

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 1:00 PM

@1:00 who is "everyone"? everyone i know is still all about it. seems like you really have it out for a stranger. very cool. what are yr other awesome opinions? are they WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2011 1:10 PM

"no one is even talking about it anymore and the guy is playing ONE whole show west of the Mississipi and has not even sold it out yet. A 600 person venue I might add"

Who cares? If you like the music/artist you go see it. Simple as that. Again, so what?
