Warm Up

INFO:

"MoMA PS1 presents Warm Up 2011, beginning July 2 and taking place every Saturday this summer through September 3. Now celebrating its 14th year, the museum's highly anticipated outdoor series will continue its tradition of introducing audiences to the best in experimental live music, sound, performance, and DJs. Featured artists include Omar-S, DJ Pierre, Sun Araw, Black Dice, Four Tet, Tanlines, Grimes, Syd Tha Kyd / OFWGKTA, His name is alive, and Nguzunguzu. The annual series is held in MoMA PS1's courtyard, which this year features Holding Pattern by Interboro Partners, an immersive environment that is the winning design of MoMA PS1's 12th annual Young Architects Program.

This year's Warm Up marks the second year the series will be conceived by a curatorial committee hand selected by the museum to represent a wide spectrum of expertise and experiences in music, sound, and the performing arts, resulting in a unique summer sound that explores, interprets, and combines genres. Selected by MoMA PS1 director Klaus Biesenbach and organized by MoMA PS1 curatorial assistant Eliza Ryan, the Warm Up 2011 committee includes Dean Bein, head of True Panther Sounds; Kris Chen, head of A & R at XL Recordings; Robin Carolan, head of Tri Angle Records; Jonathan Galkin, co-founder of DFA Records; Brandon Stosuy, senior writer for Stereogum and contributing editor for The Believer; and Matt Werth, label head of RVNG Intl.

Throughout the summer, installations by CONFETTISYSTEM, Fort Makers, Nightwood, and Thunder Horse Video, will accentuate the Warm Up stage, organized by Jocelyn Miller, MoMA PS1."

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:04 AM

why is this line up weak?..because you don't know them?? I don't know quite a few of them either, but I could easily find out/ and will. PS 1 has quite a good track record so I'm not concerned..

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:08 AM

Screw all you young'un naysayers. And look at all the hot non-white WOMEN in the photo. That's what it's like there every Sunday x10.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:08 AM

very solid lineup. BIG improvement over last year.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:38 AM

where ist jacooozi boyz?

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:40 AM

Are these shows free? Again this goes to all the $70k salary-criticisizng posters: Tell me how many other 23 year olds are making that kind of money right out of college working in multimedia and I'll be quiet, but if you are going to sit here and suggest that the average salary for people my age (who aren't lawyers, engineers or working in the medical profession) then you're full of shit. The average income in the United States isn't even that much, you morons.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 11:53 AM

11:53 you were good yesterday. you had to go for the repeat performance and blow it....

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:11 PM

$70k salary is the new 7.5 inches.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:12 PM

this lineup blows. PS1 is usually awesome for all the hot super diverse crowd it draws. Then some idiots booked a bunch of shitty whitch house you can't dance to. I wonder how all the hot latinio and guido girls will feel when they try dancing to OOOooo fucking retards.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:18 PM

That white bald dbag in the fisheye photo is the guy that is always talking about his 7.5 incher at all the shows. Yeah bro. You're cool.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:54 PM

guess they have to throw the hipsters in Queens some kind of bone

this ain't too tasty

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 12:56 PM

Agreed, 12:11.

No offense but know when to walk off the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 1:03 PM

@ 10:37
Yeah, except the beach is free and this costs money. JFC... moron....

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 1:38 PM

Brian Degraw from GGD is actually a really great DJ when he's playing dance music.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 1:41 PM

anyone who says this lineup blows knows absolutely nothing about electronic music. i bet the majority of posters here can't even dance. and that's why they love to go to indie shows and stand there with their arms crossed feigning indifference.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 2:09 PM

DJ Pierre!!!

Posted by Dan | June 9, 2011 2:52 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2011 3:38 PM

Actually better than I expected. That's probably the first time I've said that this summer regarding outdoor music line-ups. Some solid bills on here. And to be honest, the event is better earlier in the day before it gets too crowded.

Have not strength to stop dreaming of better grades? Have to compose course essay to realize your dream, but, don't know a right way to complete your course paper? Not a problem simply because you can ask: " write my papers " and materialize your desire.
