Ringo Deathstarr at SXSW 2011 (more by Bill Pearis)
Ringo Deathstarr

" I call a lot of things shoegaze, but these three have the classic '90s sound -- including Kevin Shields' glide guitar style -- down pat. Some seriously catchy songwriting keeps it out of pastiche territory. They are good and loud on the Palm Door patio, my first of many Lone Star tallboys of the week in hand, and it's a great start to the fest." [Bill]
Ringo Deathstarr, who just played Chaos in Tejas this past weekend (we didn't catch them though), will support Trail of Dead on a week-long run directly before heading out on a three week headlining tour at the end of June. The tour stops at Brooklyn's Shea Stadium on July 3 with Vandelles, Heaven, and Dead Leaf Echo.

Ringo Deathstarr released Colour Trip back in March. Check out a soundcloud stream of the entire album HERE, and the video for "So High" and more dates below...

if i've said it once, i'll say it a thousand times ... thigh-highs + short skirts + bangs = will always, always, always slay.

amazing record, absolutely horrible live band.

^ Fascinating. See, I would have thunk the exact opposite, my Anonymous Billyburger-eating friend. I listened to that clip that BV so kindly posted, and I think they sound pretty fucking horrible. Ahem, HOWEVER! And, if I may add, this is a big "however", I would happily see them live. Here's the reason, Billyburger muncher: I would simply put my Beats By Dr. Dre headphones on, maybe I have the JB purple ones, maybe not. And then, I would turn it up to 11 and rock the hello out to Dawes. And while I'm getting my new school country folk on ... and here's the best part ... and I would be fixated on that lovely chicklett with the bangs, thigh-highs and short skirt. So really I don't care what they sound like. I can watch and enjoy and be oh so happy.

Awful band name, I will NEVER give them a chance.....f--king garbage!

2:47 has way too much time on his hands. Being unemployed; you got time to kill.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 2:52 PM

I know BV commenters have a penchant for not acknowledging something that is funny, but I crack up every time I see those unemployed jokes. Nicely done.

No stream. What a gyp.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:06 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:10 PM

I don't always post in the comments section of Brooklyn Vegan

But when I do, I make sure to say something negative...

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:12 PM

3:12....your comment made me laugh! Nice one!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:17 PM

Are those his two additional Jazzmasters leaning on the amp?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:31 PM

3:17: Agreed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 3:38 PM

Album sounds pretty damn good! I think the name is kinda funny.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:10 PM

yeah, go-go boots and short skirts are pretty much awesome. even if the music sucks, sumfin to look at. Can't beat that with your hand

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 4:14 PM

I like the band's sound. They nail shoegaze. Unfortunately, the songs are just not that good.

@3:12, stay negative my friends.

Posted by Dan | June 7, 2011 4:19 PM

@4:19. Good call. Left that part out!

i actually don't love this band. it seems like they're joking, but then they're not. ! chaos in tejas???

Posted by earl bonk | June 7, 2011 6:59 PM

i like this band

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2011 9:02 PM

2:47, I am seriously thinking about using your headphone technique at every concert I attend since they all seem to suck anyway.

Sorry for bringing this up for the umpteenth time but this really is a lame play-on-words band name like the rest that have been mentioned the past few days. Other prime offenders are that Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2x) and Duran Duran Duran. Dreadful.

On the other hand, it can work the other way too. Artimus Pyledriver is one of the coolest band names out there!

Ok, I'll stop now.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 10:58 AM

Duran Duran Duran, lol.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 11:09 AM

july 3rd cant come fast enough

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:00 PM

Saw them at Chaos between youth of today and krieshog, this band is pretty great and loud live. Songs are very catchy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 1:41 PM

they were terrible at chaos in tejas.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2011 6:49 PM

Really great band. I you don't like them don't see them. If you do, bring your f-ing earplugs but listen close. There are some really nice melodies buried in all the noise

Love all 4 bands.

Shea Stadium show is going to be Epic!
