"Wilco never makes the second record twice, which makes it doubly remarkable that so many of them are tremendous. As formidable as frontman Jeff Tweedy's catalog is, the sonically inventive rock band really stands out on stage -- the place where extreme technical skill meets the chemistry and rousing showmanship of passionate rock veterans. Of course, it helps that the group has the luxury of drawing highlights from seven very different records when it performs. To see Wilco on stage is to hear the best of the best."
Listen to Wilco's entire 2-hour Memorial Day Sasquatch set at NPR (listen to GbV's there too). Wilco's entire setlist is listed below.

And with this post, our 2011 Sasquatch basically concludes. Previous posts contain The Decembersts, Noah and the Whale, Rebecca Gates, Day 3 pictures, Archers of Loaf, Day 2 pictures, and more Day 2 pics with Day 1 too. The rest of the pictures from Day 4, below...

Spiders are filling out tax returns.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 8:45 AM

radiohead sucks donkey dick.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:24 AM

It is a good setlist, though I'm kinda surprised there were no new songs on it. Isn't the new album in the can?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:24 AM

Robert Pollard = David Yow-lite

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 9:37 AM

Great show!! :)

9:24, Wilco seems to recognize that their best stuff is behind them. The fans want to hear YHF, so they favor it live.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:01 AM

9:24 so true!

But I have to say, that as someone who has seen them when they toured that LP (even before it was released) and since, it's basically the same show now over and over. For longtime fans- it gets kinda stale after the 4th or 5th time around. Some new tunes would have been exciting, just for the sake of mixing it up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:25 AM

Ha, for years I wrote Wilco off because I thought they were one of those "emperor's new clothes" bands that were overhyped like hell.

I actually just got into them, and have liked what I heard. I can chill out to this during the summer.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:41 AM

@10:25, I bet the Solid Sound shows will be different and they'll save the new stuff for then. And last year's "Evening With" shows on the East Coast had a few surprises in them. I certainly wouldn't call them "the same show over and over."

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:48 AM

no way...not stale...

fantastic.

and why is that creepy clown judging me now?!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:52 AM

Nels Cline is the reason why Wilco's game has been stepped up. Plain and simple. Cline is God.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:13 AM

To see Wilco live is to be bored.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:17 AM

@11:17, it's ok if you are into face-painting, dancing to Chromeo, and coprophagia. we won't judge.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:19 AM

Jeff Tweedy need to take some aging-gracefully( or-awesomely) lessons from Pollard. He looks like hobo.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:26 AM

The Givers look more like takers amiright?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:26 AM

You know what I would do if i had a time machine? I would go back to that day of the festival, and I would walk up to the dudes standing there with arms folding trying to look all motherfuckin' badass in George, especially the ass in the top-of-head-bun and glasses, and beat him like a rented mule.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:34 AM

I miss Jay Bennett.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:49 AM

GBV setlist? Pollard is looking great!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 11:50 AM

God forbid someone doesn't like Wilco live right, 11:19? I think you're probably letting dissenting opinions rub you the wrong way a little too much.

Yeah, I know I'm not too fond of them live either. But I still think their studio albums are great.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 12:41 PM

Foster the Fecal. God that band is shit-tay.

Posted by TitoP | June 2, 2011 12:45 PM

Their studio albums ARE great, but Tweedy has zero stage presence and one show is exactly like the last and exactly like the next. 11:17 is right -- they're boring live. Wilco gets fellated by everybody, so people are afraid to say the emperor has no clothes. Live, these guys are so meh.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:37 PM

11:34 - isn't that Kanye's Fishstick crew? Or were they auditioning to be Blackeyed Peas?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:44 PM

I agree, 1:37.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 1:56 PM

White people.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 2:09 PM

Tweedy's stage banter is almost as good as Pollard's.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 2:43 PM

That is one dirty camera sensor.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 3:51 PM

I am trying to get you all to listen to Opeth instead.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 4:25 PM

I always imagine that the people who write "white people" as a comment feel like they've just said something meaningful.

Posted by streetdude | June 2, 2011 5:00 PM

David Yow = less talented Robert Pollard

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:31 PM

I like Yow way better than Pollard.

Pollard is just an alcoholic with a decent backing band.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2011 10:49 PM

David for life :D
