Wilco at Sasquatch (more by Josh Darr)
Wilco

After a weekend of Wilco-related shows and the band's own Sold Sound Festival which just took place in North Adams, MA, Wilco have announced their own tour. The tour kicks off in September and continues through early October with support from Nick Lowe, whose "I Love My Label" Wilco covers as the b-side to their new single. They'll hit NYC on September 22 at Central Park Summerstage. Ticket info is not available at the moment, but check Ticketmaster for updates.

The tour is in support of their new album The Whole Love which comes out September 27 on their own d8pm label. Limited edition 7"s of the "I Might" single with the Nick Lowe cover as a b-side were available at Solid Sound. Check those songs out below along with album artwork, tracklist, and all tour dates...

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:31 PM

Bet they'll add 2nd show on 23rd.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:33 PM

scalping boner

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:34 PM

nice. Wish they would play BK waterfront.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:36 PM

What's capacity, like 5,000? They could in theory add a second show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:36 PM

2:34 hits it on the head

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:42 PM

There's 3 days between shows and no show on 9/23 at the Williamsburg waterfront. Therefore, make way for a 2 night NYC Wilco run.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:46 PM

Summerstage > Waterfront

P.S. Or they might do another Warsaw type show on the 23rd.....

maybe MHOW/Bowery/Irving Plaza/Brooklyn Bowl

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 2:46 PM

Second show will be added. Then third show. Then a fourth show. Oh wait that was Pavement.

Same day as Opeth. Oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 3:30 PM

oh fuck yes, it's boner time

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 3:41 PM

I've tried and tried and tried, but I just don't get Wilco. Music seems pretty cookie cutter, pretty square to me. No hate, just wished I could enjoy them like so many seem to.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 3:57 PM

^^
go to a show, it's all about the live experience. they are true showmen.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:04 PM

picking apples for the kings and queens of things i've never seen...

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:05 PM

too bad this is not in prospect park. pp is easy to sneak into. ss is impossible.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:15 PM

I agree that they have to be seen live. I really did not care for them until I saw their show at Keyspan Park and then thought that was one of the best shows I had ever seen.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:20 PM

3:57, Wilco was interesting up through A Ghost is Born. That was the tipping point. Record-wise it's all been downhill since then, but the live show is always solid since they sets usually span the best parts of their career.

what a shit venue choice

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:43 PM

4:43, seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 4:54 PM

I'm lining up right now to get my tickets and album. God, I can't wait.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 5:13 PM

Shit venue choice? At least you are not in Maryland and only have the option of seeing it at an amphitheater

Posted by BLG | June 29, 2011 5:18 PM

5;18, I'm pretty sure that 4:43 is being sarcastic. Come on no one really likes Wilco anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 6:23 PM

The musical equivalent of watching paint dry. That is, if the paint was in love with itself.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 7:17 PM

7:17, Phish is the same way.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 7:53 PM

Already sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 7:53 PM

If Wilco is like watching paint dry I am opening up a painting company! I would watch the paint dry 5 days a week and love it!

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 8:20 PM

Every 20 something poseur who never remembered Pavement (but attended all the epic 2010 NYC shows) will be at Wilco, whose history they also have no clue about

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 8:24 PM

what did the phish head say when they went to a show without being on drugs?

"God, these guys suck."

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 8:25 PM

won't co

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 8:55 PM

Their show at Keyspan 2 summers ago was in my top 10 all time. Doubt crowded-ass summerstage could compare, but I'm willing give them a chance.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2011 9:50 PM

"Shit venue choice? At least you are not in Maryland and only have the option of seeing it at an amphitheater"

if you get a seat in the pavilion at merriweather, the sound is incredible and you can see fairly well. one of the best sounding outdoor spaces in the country.

Bad jokes and clueless musical commentary. At least the commenters on this site are consistent.
