Cults at House of Vans (more by Andrew St. Clair)
Cults

As mentioned, 120 Minutes is returning to MTV2. To celebrate, MTV will host an invite-only launch party in NYC on Tuesday (7/19) at Bowery Electric (6pm doors). 120 Minutes host, Matt Pinefield, will hold a Q&A at 6:30 and then Cults will perform.

(Bowery Electric is also where the final RXP-sponsored show will take place two days later.)

Though the 120 Minutes event is invite-only, we have 2 pairs of tickets you can win. Contest details are below.

Cults kick off their tour with Guards & Writer two days later in Canada. Cults' next public NYC show is a free one at Central Park Summerstage with Friendly Fires and The Naked and Famous on August 7th. Cults then tour with Foster the People and Reptar, though they're mysteriously not on the NYC show at Terminal 5 (for now?).

All Cults dates, their new video (if you missed it), contest details and the show's flier below...

pretty inappropriate, since Cults is still unable to play even a 30 minute set.

ah fake indie!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 3:17 PM

T-minus two months until this people fall off the grid.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 3:20 PM

Their 120 minutes of fame were up a long time ago

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 3:27 PM

With my respect...I don`t think that is a fake indie!

Posted by Desentupidora | July 18, 2011 3:33 PM

WORST BAND EVER.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 3:54 PM

This band has no place being at ATP!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 4:27 PM

Yea, they aren't fake indie at all in theory (besides being on a major label imprint.) They are the epitome of the type of bullshit Pitchfork calls good then all the Williamsburg sheep follow like the retards they are.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 4:29 PM

Record is good. suck it. Ginger sushi on 2nd ave and 7th Street is delish!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 5:06 PM

I'll go but only to hear them play Fire Woman!

"They are the epitome of the type of bullshit Pitchfork calls good then all the Williamsburg sheep follow like the retards they are."

Except their record really IS good.. That's the thing.

It baffles my mind that people on BV hardly ever comment on the record itself, which, again, really really is NOT a bad record. There are some good songs on there. I'd say the majority of the songs are good. And I'm not 18 yr old 'just getting into """indie""" music' kid. Pitchfork is 2002 to me. I've been there, done that. Just calling it as I see it. People seem to talk about how the singer looks and talk about anything but the music. It's ridiculous.

word 5:25

have people on this thread actually listened to the record straight through? fun stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 5:32 PM

Their record has undeniably good songs. Better than most bands in general.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 5:43 PM

Umm, the record fucking sucks. Boring, generic, take no risks, nothing at stake, by the numbers, mind-numbing shit.

Posted by Rick Rubin | July 18, 2011 9:28 PM

5:25, I just don't agree. Is it bad? No, but it's extremely mediocre. And that's what I mean by epitome of Pitchfork bullshit, ie indie rock. All these bands that are just mediocre. For a culture that rails against mainstream music for being derivative, image-based, and performed by people with very limited musical talent, 90% of indie rock bands loved, at least in NYC, fall right in the same category.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 9:42 PM

And you can be on a special image based MTV video shoot with an average band.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2011 3:13 AM

Take a closer look at who's pushing this band's latest video real hard: BoingBoing. They were the geniuses who floated that stupid fucking Die Antwoord bullshit and we all know how awesome they turned out to be.

Stick to steampunk and copyrights, nerds.

"I'll go but only to hear them play Fire Woman!"

I was personally hoping for Love Removal Machine.

Thank you, I have some vacation time, which gave me some ideas.I found it at the right time, I'm just going to do some days I work. We are considering my vacation, which for us is really interesting.
