George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic

Neither recent health problems or a battle with lawyers could stop the funk. George Clinton (that's him in the blue coat) just turned 70 and he celebrated with a multi-hour Parliament Funkadelic show at Beekman Beer Garden at the South Street Seaport in NYC last night (7/28).

Earlier this summer George played a free lunchtime show at Metrotech in Brooklyn. Ginzburg was at that one:

"Covering just about all their hits, and even throwing in a ten foot or so alien life form on stage, George danced, pranced, did poetry, and sang in that gravelly voice of his that won't make Al Green lose any sleep. Sure, he took a few uncharacteristic rests in a chair in back of the stage, but great this was. And when the twenty or so musicians jammed, it was indeed a joyful noise."
Pictures from the Beekman show are in this post. More of them below...

There once was a man from Peru
Who went to sleep in his canoe
He was dreaming of Venus
And took out his penis
Then woke up with a hand full of goo

Put your foot on the rock...

You really shouldn't ought to fight it.
This music is designed to do no harm.
It's just for you.

I was at this concert, right in the front. I will agree that it was exciting to see P-Funk LIVE, but gdam they're so loosely organized they sound like shyt. As a life-long fan and follower of P-Funk, I hate to say it, but the $35 was not worth it. The performance SUCKED big time! Their musical expertise was lacking; any local "cover" group would outplay them at a free concert in the park. When I go to see Mandrill at the BB King Theatre in Aug, I'm 100% sure their performance will be a HOLE lot better!

You clearly have not seen P-Funk live since the 70s. They're a different act now with a different sound. The "confusion" is a part of that sound, but rest assured they were completely organized and sounded great.
