Drat! Wilco presale tickets gone in 2 minutes!?
Posted by HBomb | July 13, 2011 10:03 AM
Noon. Not 10.

Front gate is horrible.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 10:05 AM
Presale tickets via FrontGate tickets were available at 10 ET.
Posted by HBomb | July 13, 2011 10:05 AM
What's the AmEx presale password?
Posted by Hbomb | July 13, 2011 10:07 AM
I think you mean presale tix were NOT available via frontgate. What a fucking joke, the site crashes every time. Ugh.

I didn't know Harvey Milk, Wilco, and Nick Lowe were all touring together. That's one hell of a tour!
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 10:11 AM
I saw the screen where you could select the quantity but when I tried to add to the cart, it gave me a message saying no tix available. And it was 10am sharp.

oh well...at least i got to play that 1970s blueberry-eating snake game while other people bought tickets
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 10:13 AM
Capacity @ Summerstage = 6000
For public on sale, probably 5800.
So 10% of 5800.....580 tixs.
That's the size of Bowery Ballroom.
Wait till noon or get it on Friday.
I'm sure they'll add another show the next night anyway....
I'm just hoping they'll add smaller show again like in 2008 was it? when they played Warsaw

Anonymous 10:08, you're right- I meant NO tickets available.
Posted by Hbomb | July 13, 2011 10:17 AM
The AmEx presale password is: have an AmEX.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 10:19 AM

I was lucky enough to get Wilco Frontgate presale tix but paid outrageous fees--$12 per ticket for service and delivery! Nice way to treat your fanbase. Ticketmaster will be cheaper!

10:36: Of course I like him. He stood up for gay rights.

10:15, your estimate is way off. This show is promoted by Bowery Presents. The numbers will look more like this:
Capacity @ Summerstage = 6000
AMEX holds = 1000
Bowery Presents holds = 3000
Wilco holds = 500
You're probably left with about 1500 tickets for the public onsale, if that.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:11 AM
How does Bowery Presents differ from Ticketmaster? Sales at Mercury Lounge and MHoW?
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:21 AM
Bowery Presents is just the promoter. They buy the show/tour from Wilco's agent, and then they promote it. Ticketmaster just handles ticketing. Given that Bowery is promoting, they would probably have tickets available at Mercury Lounge and MHOW after the onsale happens (if there's any tickets left, which there probably won't be for this..)
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:23 AM
Adding to 11:11 - The Bowery Presents ticket hold won't be via an onsale to the public, or via their box offices at Mercury Lounge or MHOW... they just hold back tickets for promo purposes, and for selling to the "secondary market" (i.e. scalpers, StubHub, etc). What's left over will be release the week of the show, kinda like what happened with those LCD shows.

Everyone on BV is an expert on booking and ticketing...
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:47 AM
Well, I guess it's interesting reading up on how ticket selling/industry works.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:56 AM
11:47, I've seen enough shows in NYC, spoken to enough industry people and ticket brokers, to know the deal. It's a known fact that every faction that has their hands in the pool of tickets will hold back seats, until only about 10% of the house is left to the general onsale. It's a known, well-documented fact. Trent Reznor wrote a great piece about how messed up the live music industry is on his NIN site. http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?59,548515
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2011 11:56 AM
Quote from Trent Reznor: "The venue, the promoter, the ticketing agency and often the artist camp (artist, management and agent) take tickets from the pool of available seats and feed them directly to the re-seller (which from this point on will be referred to by their true name: SCALPER). I am not saying every one of the above entities all do this, nor am I saying they do it for all shows but this is a very common practice that happens more often than not. There is money to be made and they feel they should participate in it. There are a number of scams they employ to pull this off which is beyond the scope of this note. "
