Lower Dens @ South Street Seaport
Lower Dens

After losing Will, Jana Hunter put together a new Lower Dens which made its debut in Toronto during NXNE. That new band made its NYC debut at South Street Seaport Friday night, and will hit NYC again as part of its tour with Cass McCombs. Dirty Beaches, who also played NXNE, also played South Street Seaport Friday night. Pictures from that free NYC show are in this post. More of them, with videos and tour dates too, below...

Decent?

Dirty Beaches was really awful. I wasn't expecting much but he managed to exceed expectations.

Lower Dens saved the day!

Both Lower Dens and Dirty Beaches were decent was a nice free concert show

Lower Dens were fantastic. In defense of Dirty Beaches, his act just didn't jell with the venue. In a dark, claustrophobic space, it would've been perfect, but it was sort of weird to hear/watch that outdoors and before dark.

@7:57 said it. quite true. his act would've been better at night also its not exactly the kind of music you want to hear to be in a jolly summer mood

Both bands were pretty good, beautiful night. Not surprised to read here that Lower Dens had new personnel, felt as if they have room to grow.

Lower dens were better before. Would love to see a show at South Street Seaport, seen some at some of the piers on the other side of Manhattan but this spot would be cool. Does it still smell of fish?...
