Night Birds at Chaos in Tejas (more by Keith Marlowe)
Night Birds

Quite a few were left blue when the much loved NJ band The Ergs called it quits. Luckily, members of The Ergs are back with a new project in Night Birds, a punk/garage/surf hybrid that rips as much on record as it does live. After a series of 7"s, the band is welcoming their debut LP The Other Side of Darkness on Grave Mistake on 9/13. Stream the title track and all of their older songs below.

Night Birds are scheduled to play NYC at Public Assembly on August 15th with From Ashes Rise, and Full of Hell, one of two US shows scheduled with the other being an appearance at Best Friends Day. They tour Europe in September. All dates and songs below.

I was one of them! My life had little to no direction after The Ergs broke up.

Seen em live a couple times at Asbury Lanes...real good. Hope the rec lives up to the live show.

Do you think they purposely leave their guitars out to get ruined by the elements, or do they make a lot of money playing shows to afford those relic collector guitars??

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 3:18 PM

^^^who cares.. Saw em open up for Municipal Waste the other night at Kearny Irish. Fucking awesome band!!

^^^^^^Exactly!! He should go play in traffic!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 3:51 PM

I get it now, they play shows in traffic, that's why they have "road worn" guitars.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 5:16 PM

In the picture, it looks like the vocalist is going to spray the guitarist with his boy-butter.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 7:10 PM

holy shit this is the most derivative bullshit ive ever heard.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 7:42 PM

Oh great some more BV commenters who hate rock and think St. Vincent "sounded just like Big Black" that one time. Blow it out your ass.

Posted by Dave | July 27, 2011 7:55 PM

Sad thing about that comment is that St. Vincent is rock...

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 8:06 PM

Yeah, exactly. St. Vincent is "rock" to you, so that's why you thumb your nose at a band like Night Birds.

Posted by Dave | July 27, 2011 8:21 PM

My thumb is in my nose because these dudes day late and a dollar short.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2011 9:04 PM

they have an unreleased concept album about the evils of circumcision. Brian is very passionate about this topic. He actually hasn't spoken to his parents since they had him cut when he was a baby. RECLAIM THE FORESKIN!

These faggots need to hold on to their butts.

Posted by punx are gay | July 28, 2011 11:52 PM

Seriously, is he pretending to give the guitarist a facial? Is this typically part of their live show?
