OMD at Terminal 5 in March (more by Chris La Putt)
OMD

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, who reunited earlier this year to tour in support of 2010's reunion album History of Modern, are returning to North America this fall for another string of dates. The tour includes two stops in NYC: September 20 and 21 at Irving Plaza. Tickets go on sale for both NYC shows Friday (7/8) at 10 AM with a pre-sale starting Thursday (7/7) at 10 AM. Like the last tour, OMD will appear with their original lineup.

The last US date on this tour is October 13th in Austin, TX where an incident at SXSW caused the band to make the national news in March. They end their tour two days later in Mexico.

So, OMD gets a full mention, but Bush just gets dissed? You're a strange one sometimes, Mr. BV. :)

OMD are awesome.

Bush are an insufferable shit party.

To the guy above and all the rest of the idiots who get mad when a show or news is not covered on here. Why do you care so much to opine on it? Does it change everything for you about the show if it is not covered?
In this instance, unless you are a promoter of the Bush show why do you give a shit?
You got yourself a ticket right? Why are you so concerned with others knowing or caring.

Oh and Bush sucks you loser.

Yeah I don't get the Bush love. The most cookie cutter band of the 90's.... zzzzz

Posted by Anonymous | July 6, 2011 3:02 PM

@2.40 here. First of all, I'm not mad, nor do I particularly love Bush. Just seemed odd to me that BV would specifically dis Bush as a grunge reunion that we don't need (a rare instance in which a group is singled out for disparagement on this site), yet devote a post to an afterthought like OMD, a forgettable cookie cutter band of the 80's if there ever was one (in my opinion). That's all....why do people get so riled up about stuff like that here? Guess you must be bored at your 70K jobs.

3:10. Just because you started to listen to music when grunge took over, does not mean that OMD is "forgettable or cookie cutter". Far from it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 6, 2011 3:22 PM

@3:10 You are truly showing your newbie roots here..OMD is a band that contributed quite a bit to synth-pop! You are entitled to your opinion but they have a vast catalog to enjoy. I hope that you are not basing your opinion on the single from Pretty in Pink "If you leave" We are not bored at our 70k jobs ,we just know great music when we hear it.. a side note...Bush was a Terrible band!!

Everyone calm down. With our 70k, there is plenty of money for us all to see both OMD and Bush.

OMD is responsible for everything cool. Do your due-diligance.

"@3:10 You are truly showing your newbie roots here."

ha ha, I wish. I'm well into my 50s and experienced the 80's firsthand. OMD was just an insignificant blip on the screen as far as I was and am concerned. Just my opinion guys of course.

Bush was one of the things responsible for killing rock in the 90's. (see also: Candlebox, Days of the New, Fuel, Creed). I'm not a fan of OMD either, but they at least had some credibility in their genre.

Bush sucks! OMD doesn't. OMD was quite unique back in the day. Bush was not.

20 years later, Andie is now an unemployed mother of 4 in Florida, while Ducky owns a hummus and pita store in Brooklyn.

Because New Yorkers are overly-opinionated cunts with unjustifiably high opinions of the value of their thoughts? That, or the anonymous nature of commenting here means that nobody is ever held to account for their keyboard vomit.

Or, both.

I agree.

Well put, Steve who likes beer in Lower Manhattan.

I don't care what the fuck Steve or whatever her name is has to say about shit. All you fuckers are wack. OMD is wack. You hipsters - and I see you all the time at Brooklyn Bowl, so don't go looking over your shoulder, pussy - listen to some bullshit music these days. Nobody listened to OMD back in the day, and no one cares now.

Posted by Tom from Brooklyn Bowl, pussy | July 6, 2011 5:28 PM

Actually a few people listened to OMD back in the day, but they were just passive fans who liked one or two songs. Mostly, they liked the Cure, Depeche Mode, and New Order. I didn't know of any people for which OMD was their favorite band.

What trendy loser comments (especially the names!).

As an aside, Livenation has the stupidest presale passwords ever.

Stoked to see that Tom from Brooklyn Bowl is getting the band back together. Keep on crackin' skulls and keepin' it real!

OMD had great presence in the 80s synth/pop/new wave era along with the rest of them. True fans know OMD had more to offer than "If you leave." As for the non-diehards, no need to hate due to ignorance.
Now, anyone else notice Andy McClusky pretty much maintained his voice after all these years?!
