Peter Wolf

J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, who we last saw when he was a guest of Yo La Tengo at Maxwell's for Hanukkah, went on a short tour this past March that never hit NYC. More dates TBA?

Awesome! J. Geils Band knows how to put on an amazing show, and I'm not saying that just because I'm fifty years old.

Oh man, Peter Wolf looks like he's mummified, though.

Saw J.Giels w/ Peter Wolf back in the '70s @ the Beacon/ a great show. Saw J Giels with Magi Dick (as Blues Time) at the Bottom Line> one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I'd be willing to give them another shot. Bring it on..

you do realize that "back in the '70s" was +35 years ago, right? Aerosmith were actually good then, the Stones were still relevant, and all the Beatles were alive then. Just sayin.

I saw J Geils in 1973 at the Warehouse in New Orleans. Anyone else there? lol Fantastic venue, also saw Savoy Brown, Focus, and, ugh, the Charlie Daniels Band there (yes, sometimes I'm embarrassed at what I used to like)

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:03 PM

I suuuure woulda liked to have seen Focus, man!

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:06 PM

^ Likewise!

Peter Wolf = easily the most annoying/schlocky part of the J. Geils band, a band that was quite schlocky and annoying in of itself anyway!

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:20 PM

Looks like Howard Stern, only worse.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:29 PM

Aerosmith was never good. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:34 PM

Peter Wolf is a huge pain in the ass. Seth Justman, however, is a great guy. Wrote most of Geil's music if I'm not mistaken

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:56 PM

bitch, I was there. Toys > Rocks Aerosmith was the fuckkkkkkin bomb. No band today on this blog or elsewhere has that kind of drunken confident swagger. That era Aeerosmith is who the Strokes think they are, yet so painfully obvious to us is how much they fall so short.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 4:58 PM

ha.. saw Aerosmith OPEN for Blue Oyster Cult in Asbury Park... a.. long .. time ago...

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 5:01 PM

Peter Wolf = Howard Stern

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 5:02 PM

3:50 whats your point? 35 years ago.. so what? I appreciate where we came from and also listen to a ton of new music. Pretty insatiable overall /always listening for new.. and more than what's posted here on BV. Age ain't nothing but a number. But you'll find out soon enough..

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 5:08 PM

point is that he ain't gonna sound like you remember and you'll leave with tainted memories. But you'll find out soon enough..

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 5:16 PM

I was not born yet 35 years ago. Yet, I thought Midnight Souvenirs was one of the best albums of 2010 and his co-headlining show with Bettye Lavette at Highline Ballroom last year was fantastic.

I don't go to show listening for "what it was like" or reliving the past . Some loose the plot, some don't. I was at the Highline show as well, and Peter Wolf still has the chops... as long as he doesn't do that Centerfold bullsh*t.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 6:49 PM

Yeah, they won't do Centerfold. You keep telling yourself that. This isn't a cash grab with all the big hits.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2011 7:32 PM

I liked him better when he was Fartman.

1sr 2 albums were good, then they became a parody of themelves, made some money in the early MTV days, and 30 years later they are back. rent party! or retirement fund party!! whammer jammer lemme hear ya son - wait i can't hear --

Posted by donn | July 26, 2011 8:09 PM

The snare drum head made of milk blew your MIND the first time you saw it. ADMIT IT!

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | July 27, 2011 1:51 PM

Seeing the J Geils band at at Jones Beach would be a really good show. And he does look a little like Howard Stern in this photo. Lol.

Wolf's announced another show the night after Bowery at the Bell House...

Friggen awesome show last summer there. Can't wait to do both of these again.
