Wait... what?
They said this morning that the whole fest would be streamed, I assumed there'd be stage selections going on...

Curren$y! C'mon!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 4:40 PM

stream of piss morelike

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 4:44 PM

Pitchfork is similar to a hummus platter without pita triangles. It's still good and all, but something just ain't right.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 5:11 PM

Such as when Barb B Que sauce gets dumped on it or Wassabi.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 5:19 PM

OK watched a second of the stream and unfortunately it was EMA crying about Hollywood.
Really bad.

Maybe Battles will be worth checking out for a few songs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 5:24 PM

EMA was much more attractive before I heard her sing or talk.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 5:26 PM

Cut Copy is the only one worth watching. Lame.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 5:33 PM

No attractive girls performing. Maybe Neko Case 10 years ago...

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 5:34 PM

the stream isn't working for me, is this happening to anyone else? I have the newest version of Flash, but the stream just sits there tying to load.
any ideas?

Posted by bob | July 15, 2011 5:35 PM

It looks really hot there.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 5:41 PM

I can't believe none of these people have jobs.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 5:48 PM

Some people do have jobs with vacation time

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 6:01 PM

That makes one of us. I'll be lucky if I get out of the office by Animal Collective's set...

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 6:07 PM

If I tried to take a vacation day to see a musical festival my boss woud laugh me out of the building. But I am also, admittedly, 32...

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 6:09 PM

This community is not very vibrant. Anyone know any more vibrant communities where we can discuss the stream?

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 6:41 PM

Enjoying the GBV set. One of the great things about being a guy is you can rock into your 50's.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 7:31 PM

god, indie is the nu-metal of now. This is terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 8:04 PM

GBV set was brilliant. I dare say even better than maxwell's!

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 8:26 PM

Whoa. Did Neko Case age a decade since I saw her at the New Pornos secret LaLa show a couple years back? Still sounds great, tho!

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 8:29 PM

Battles should change their name to Pointless.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 8:59 PM

Neko Case is the Mary-Louise Parker of indie rock. I'd like to doink both of 'em, but wouldn't for fear of an expensive disease

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 9:24 PM

God Animal Collective sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 9:36 PM

Thurston Moore was pleasant.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 9:39 PM

"Battles should change their name to Pointless."

True

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 9:39 PM

9:36, I'm kinda with you. I've really done a good job to avoid them to this point, but I just watched the first two "songs" they did on the streaming thing and I had to post this - you folks really like this shit? They are off tonight, right? I mean, "pointless" would be giving it a lot of credit, and yet they are hot as asphalt nowadays. I just don't get it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 9:44 PM

I probably go to the "cool" bars in Chicago two-three times a week, and am a social guy, and I have never met someone who actually enjoys Animal Collective.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 10:06 PM

Yea I've seen them live and it's always this bad. Don't know how people fool themselves into thinking this shit is good live.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 10:16 PM

Animal Collective are great con-men. Just fool Pitchfork into loving you and the accolades will follow.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 10:29 PM

8:59 knows what he's talking about.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 10:35 PM

If Animal Collective really wants to do something challenging, they should challenge themselves to write a song.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 15, 2011 10:35 PM

If there is no chorus, why should I care?

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2011 11:12 PM

GBV sucked. I think Pollard is bored with the classic lineup again...

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 9:02 AM

Thurston Moore was ok

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 9:39 AM

"If I tried to take a vacation day to see a musical festival my boss woud laugh me out of the building. But I am also, admittedly, 32..."

I am so very sad for your life. You can't even take a vacation day to do what you want, you need to justify it to your boss? Wow.

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 9:56 AM

Animal Collective live: terrible
Animal Collective albums: incredible

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 10:05 AM

"If I tried to take a vacation day to see a musical festival my boss woud laugh me out of the building. But I am also, admittedly, 32..."

Why don't you just tell him you're going to a wedding? Just lie to your boss!

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 10:14 AM

10:05 - gun to your head, 5 seconds to live, what is THE ONE AC album that I need to hear?

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 11:18 AM

11:18 - Take the bullet.

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 12:13 PM

Sorry I have a real job -- i.e., one that does not mold to my personal schedule. Also, in my field, we try not to "lie" to our bosses (or anyone else). Seriously, though, good for the people who could take the day off -- I was maybe jealous. That said, I am able to make it to the festival today and tomorrow and will be tweeting it. My twitter name is Mitchfork.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 16, 2011 2:05 PM

Only 1:50 and already the 1st surprise guest at P4k. It's a doozy: Alex Bleeker from Real Estate playing bass for Woods. Love it.

Posted by Mitchfork | July 16, 2011 2:54 PM

This sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 3:33 PM

how obnoxious is cold cave - from the leather jackets in that heat, to the commnet that this is the first time he has been out in daylight, bad songs, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 4:11 PM

Cold Cave is wearing what I would expect someone to wear in a cold cave. That said, it makes me feel better about the fact I wore a blazer to a festival when it's 100 degrees out!

Posted by Mitchfork | July 16, 2011 4:16 PM

Mitch I think I have a 'real job' which means I do whatever the hell I want but make enough to get by independently. I think the adjective for your job is actually 'shit job.'

Also I have no clue why anyone who lives in Brooklyn/NYC w/our nightly music choices would endure a massive festival like this. And +1 to animal collective & battles being full of unlistenable suck.

Posted by Anonymous | July 16, 2011 6:26 PM

caught No Age on this stream earlier. they were fantastic.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 12:32 AM

Am I missing something here? You could have the realest job ever — I'm sure it includes vacation days. Tix for this fest went on sale months ago, people booked a day off. I took 3 this year for a 5-day trip to SXSW. Worked hard before, worked hard after. Isn't that how it works? I can't believe anyone would make a snarky issue out of this.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 3:35 AM

If you have a full-time job that doesn't allow you to take a vacation/personal day when you want, that job just plain sucks.

Unless your like an astronaut and you can't take a vacation/personal day cause your in outer space. Only exception.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 3:47 AM

How can a bv reader who only cares about eatting hummus or making degrading comments about females ever become an astronaut?

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 7:44 PM

How can a hipster who only writes about how stupid everyone else is or how their insights are better than everyone elses ever become intelligent?

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 8:35 PM

the same three people posting over and over again god you guys are pathetic.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2011 10:18 PM

I tuned in when they started with battles and stopped after halfway through Atlas. Way to ruin a song that was already awesome by trying to "make it better" it just sounded like a bunch of crap thrown together. Blonde Redhead is in town this weekend for a show at millennium park. Why wouldn't you have kazu come and sing her part in sweatie and shag? I hate when musicians put on live shows and then play recordings for vocals during the sets, i feel robbed.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2011 12:48 PM

I'll ask it again ... gun to your head, 5 seconds to live, what is THE ONE AC album that I need to hear?

and 12:13, that would be gun to YOUR head, Einstein.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2011 4:19 PM

^ definitely It Just Gets Worse.

Oh.... you meant the oth- Just go for Merriwether Post Pavillion!

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2011 4:32 PM

4:19 Not sure why a gun needs to be involved. Pretty sure it's just a great band that people love to love and love to hate. But if the anecdote helps you feel funny, then carry on I suppose? But to "answer your question" I'd probably pick Feels. "Purple Bottle" and "Banshee Beat" are hard to beat.
