Ratatat headlined the sold-out Central Park Summerstage last night (7/13) with support from Omar Souleyman and Black Pus (aka Brian Chippendale of Lightning Bolt). It rained pretty hard during Omar Souleyman but things cleared up for Ratatat's set, which was accompanied by an array of video clips and visuals. Omar then played a much drier set after the show at Santos with Janka Nabay and others.

ratatat is fucking elevator music

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2011 4:05 PM

I admit I haven't been paying much attention but when and how did Ratatat get so popular?

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2011 4:05 PM

4:05 - Your personality is elevator music.

Jizpace for life.

Was the sound terrible? As in way too low? Had to ban CPS shows because of leaving so pissed off after every show.

Toss on the many people who like to yell over sound that's not loud enough to begin with and voila, the urge to punch someone.

i sorta dig them and appreciate what they do, but i have to admit, ratatat is kinda weird

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2011 4:46 PM

ratatat was formed by urban outfitters to provide a soundtrack to the shopping experience in their stores that would lead to higher sales.

yo mad negativity... all comments above came from people who didnt actually go to the show??? Heres how it went down...

BLACK PUS - no wasnt loud enough, the kids were too young to get it and didnt really understand what amazing shit they were witnessing, no merch available either i was like whaaat but for the most part everyone dug it. Wish it was louder, wish it was night time, wished he was on the floor, fuckit, shoulda been lightning bolt! BUt great anyway. im just a big fan, cant lie.

OMAR souleyman started out slow, i was confused by him, sorta boring, the music he makes comes from 2 korgs his man has up there, omar soueymon just walks around and claps and sings and no one on the stage moves.. the music is dry as hell... but soon everyone got wet from the crazy rain and started to open up.. for a bit, as long as you werent crying and running from it, the rain was awesome. people opened up, started dancing and enjoying the situation.. the sky opened up and the sun shown for like 15 minutes of the set still while it rained. very cool. thanks omar, you made it rain, or thanks rain, you made omar?

RATATAT was cool, first song was terrible sound, but it cleaned up and was loud enough by the second. i always want it louder, it was just loud enough. i saw ratatat before but seeing them again sealed the deal, i really liked them, and am convinced they must be classicly trained shredder metal ghettotech heads who just know their shit. i thought they just hit play on a laptop but man they play guitar the whole time. Beethoven&Mozart ass riffs. No i havent really heard much since the first album, then saw them at this past bonnaroo and dug it. downloaded LP3 discovered they now have 4 and im like ohh i guess yeah they are mad popular. MAD KIDS at that show! youngins comin from upstated getting off at 42nd st catching metronorth on their way home...but fun loving kids. decent younginz.. i have faith in our youth... i been rappn for like 10 years....

if you werent there you can suck it, it was a fun ass show
