The Wake and Weekend were scheduled to play the free outdoor show at South Street Seaport this evening, July 8, 2011, but due to rain, the show has been moved to Littlefield in Brooklyn. Doors are now at 9pm, but the show is still free. Bands at 10 & 11.

Poor Chris La Putt braved the weather and went to the Seaport to capture the action. His picture of the non-event is above.

In related news, tonight's Yankees game is postponed for the same reasons and that means Derek Jeter will have to wait a little bit longer before attempting his 3000th hit.

P.S. Want to see Animal Collective for free at Merriweather Post Pavillion (the MD venue) on Saturday night? We're running a last minute contest for two tickets now at our Facebook.

12:45..what the fuck were you expecting. If you knew anything about the band you would know what they sound like walking in.A FREE show that could have been easily cancelled(due to weather), but didn't bc the bands wanted to play. To think that the band came overseas to play for your sorry ass..
As I listened and watched the show I thought of their history thru out the 80's.They filled a small niche and for those that 'heard it' it was a perfect fit.
Was it a powerhouse show? no,it wasn't meant to be. It was perfect for what it was..

any info on the secret private shows at littlefield on 7/22 and 8/8?

Also Michael 12:45...do your homework or stay home. There are two bands named The Wake. The one that was on Factory Records along with other early 80s post punk bands like Stockholm Monsters, Section 25, Durutti Column and A Certain Ratio played Littlefield last night. Way over your head and whether you appreciated it or not, you were very lucky to see them. The band you were expecting to see was a C-List Sisters Of Mercy wannabee goth metal band at best.
