The Horrors

The Horrors head out on a North American tour in September. We mentioned that the tour includes ATP NJ and a NYC show on October 4 at Webster Hall right afterwards. No need to wait that link to see the UK band though. The Horrors will pay a visit to the US at the end July. We don't know what else they'll do while they're here but you can catch them on July 28 at The Studio at Webster Hall. Tickets for the intimate show go on sale Saturday (7/9) at 10 AM.

The Horrors' new album Skying gets released on August 9 via XL. Stream the whole thing now, over all the tour dates, below...

The Horrors are ok. Skying is weak, but they are good live.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 9:46 AM

no way Skying rules! love that the Horrors continue to evolve.

I have to agree with the above comments. Skying is pretty weak as a whole. The first few songs that were released as singles or were leaked made me think it'd be a very good album, but it's underwhelming and falls too much into a regular Brit altrock pitfall.

better when they were called, Clinic

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 10:12 AM

they surely are a good live band
probably none of the people putting them down here have seen them live, which would not surprise me, but then again, we only want at the show real fans and not critics
thanks for eh link BV!

Skying is far from weak. Once p4k gives it a 8.2 and BNM y'all will change your tune.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 10:44 AM

This album is fantastic.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 10:45 AM

10:44, the joke's on you because 8.2s usually don't get BNM!

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 10:47 AM

10:12

as a fan of both Clinic and The Horrors, have you ever even heard a fucking Clinic song? The Horrors sound NOTHING like them! Go check out Suuns for a band that is so obviously copying Clinic.

Skying is a brilliant album, anyone that listens to music instead of following an aesthetic or scene would realize that.

It's 1044, and what I am getting at is while 8.2's rarerlly get BNM'ed, P4k is not going to fully commit to a band that typically falls under NME's brand. So I think you will see the rare 8.2 BNM.

This album does rule. It's excellent start-to-finish. An unexpected treat.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 11:12 AM

SPIN gave Skying a cool 7/10, Rolling Stone gave it three stars. Not that they're credible, but they usually tend to predicate what to expect from Pitchfork. I'm going to guess a high 7.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 11:13 AM

sounds like typical 90s Brit-pop.

HA!

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 11:43 AM

Are they still going to dress like they raided Edward Gorey's closet?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 12:30 PM

is the comparison to 90s british rock/pop a bad thing? i miss the days when there were a lot of good albums coming from across the pond.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 2:37 PM

Eh, I just go see the Damned instead in October.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 2:47 PM

^Good because they're done pretending to be the Damned. They're now playing dress up as some generic 90s Brit-pop band.
Kids. Trying on daddy's clothes.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 3:13 PM

do you guys really care what rolling stone thinks? they trashed literally every LedZep album

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 3:23 PM

What, like Blur?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 3:24 PM

This is extremly good 90's rehashing.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2011 4:05 PM

What are they going to dress up as for their next album? I hope they go Raver!

Posted by Fa-fa-fa-fashion. | July 8, 2011 4:55 PM

No. For the next album they will be dressing up in traditional Lebanese clothing to pay homage to the hummus chefs of the world.
