WU LYF @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Wu Lyf

WU LYF released Go Tell Fire to the Mountain digitally on their own LYF imprint last month, and played two sold out NYC shows this past weekend as part of a short tour. We posted pics from Mercury Lounge. A few from Knitting Factory are in this post.

WU LYF will continue to tour the world between now and the end of the year, including a string of just-announced North American dates in November. That includes a Brooklyn show on November 8 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for MHOW go on sale Friday, 8/5, at noon, with an AmEx pre-sale starting two days earlier. All dates are listed below.

Go Tell Fire to the Mountain will see a physical release on September 6 via the band's L Y F imprint. Some videos, the KF pics and all dates below...

Besides their (well done) propaganda - Can someone please explain why these guys are considered to be so special?

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2011 11:53 AM

I was just about to make a comment on the christmas tree tattoo - I'm glad that's already taken care of already.

Thanks 11:11

it was corny as fuck when he took his shirt off

You guys all suck. Yeah they are overhyped but the album is great and original. Would you prefer that they were a guy/girl duo from brooklyn that look retarded and make shitty electro? I hope your mothers get raped by sasquatch.

How is the album original? You've never heard of Animal Collective. Or, how about Arcade Fire? No? What about The Walkmen? Tom Waits? Vampire Weekend?

It's like these tools took some of the more popular records, or cult icons of recent years and aped 'em.

NOT original. NOT good. And the singer should keep his shirt on until he actual starts to sweat.

BREAKING NEWS: Joe Strummer back from dead and fronting Harlem Shakes

I agree, "original," isn't the word to describe them but if you throw a, "fairly," in front of that it makes more sense. They certainly didn't follow some popular trend with their music though. I mean shouldn't we be pissed that Foster the People just sold out Terminal 5? I thought we hated Passion Pit and hummus, right? At least nobody tags their blog coverage of WU LYF with MGMT or Washed Out. Plus the guitar work is pretty dope. Anyway, LCD Soundsystem...

That actually is a pretty good story
