Caitlin Rose @ Mercury Lounge
Caitlin Rose

"Although 23-year-old singer-songwriter Caitlin Rose was born and raised in Nashville, she first rose to acclaim in Europe, where her debut album put her name on the influential UK music magazine NME's "Cool List" for 2010. Rose's confident voice and dexterous delivery have earned her comparisons to great country singers like Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. She's also a gifted lyricist with a knack for wry observations and artful understatement. It's a talent that runs in the family--her mother is Nashville songwriter Liz Rose, who has penned hits for Taylor Swift, among others." [NPR]
Caitlin Rose's tour hit Mercury Lounge in NYC on Saturday evening for a show with Luke Rathborne. More pictures, some videos, and her setlist from the show, below...

Killer show. The band is tight as can be and Caitlin's voice always unexpectedly bowls you over Neko Case-style.

This show was fucking terrible. Im ashamed I went. There are plenty of great mellow or country acts in NY and surrounds that this even BEING here just screams of nepotism. What is the difference between this and the shitty open mic at Sidewalk Cafe?

Fuck this chick and her expensive PR, and her $4k guitar paid for by fake ass Taylor Swift.

Are you... actually retarded?

I work in the music business. Money can't buy you attention, especially from BV. If it could there'd be a lot more shit flying around than their already is. Complaining about an artist having a leg up financially is the biggest fucking crutch for untalented a holes who're upset nobody listens to them.

If nobody is coming to your shows you should do one of two things.

Write new songs and practice like a motherfucker until your set is tight.

GIVE UP and learn another trade.

Complaining is the least productive thing your sorry ass can do.
