"If the DMB concert in cancelled on Sunday, the hordes of dmbag fans roaming aimlessly thru NYC will be more dangerous than #irene" - DBTH

written for the screen by David Matthews
Dave Matthews

"Ticket holders for Saturday and Sunday are invited to attend the Friday, August 26th event at Governors Island. The Governor of New York has issued a state emergency, therefore the DMB Caravan events on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th have been postponed. We will announce the new Caravan Governors Island dates as soon as they have been confirmed. We will continue to post updates to the Caravan website as they are confirmed."
There is of course temptation to be snarky here, but I do feel bad for all involved.

Hoards of DMB fans roaming aimlessly through NYC...
I think I saw one earlier, It was wondering down Kent avenue with a glazed over expression. Kinda looked like a hippy zombie, but instead of saying "Brains" it said "hummmmmmus"

at least we only have to deal with these fans for the weekend. brooklyn hipsters are a plague, ALL YEAR LONG

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 6:45 AM

6:45, that's why it was so great when LCD was playing MSG. For one night, I could hang in Williamsburg, and all the hipsters were gone for the evening.

It would be great if Gogol Bordello can do another local show instead.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 8:25 AM

yes another local show for gogol...except there wont be any trains running, so hopefully they can play in my living room

6:29, that story is like 8 years old.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 8:53 AM

I liked DMB in college. I'm embarrassed about it now though. True story.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 9:34 AM

^I think that happened to everyone at some point..I liked him my senior year of high school! ha

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 9:52 AM

At first glance I thought it read:

"...the hordes of dbag fans..."

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 10:03 AM

I liked him for about 5 minutes in 1995 when I was 12. Any more than that would be embarassing, but I look back on it as a natural part of growing up, kinda like discovering Santa Claus is fake.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 10:05 AM

never liked em

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 10:34 AM

^that's a lie or you're under 18 years old :)

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 10:35 AM

I never had a moment of liking DMB. Or Hootie. Or Blues Traveler. Or any other shit of that stripe. The downside is that I've always pretty much despised the dorky maggots - like BV readers - who have the same taste in music that I do, so it's a wash. Why must hipsters and their predecessors be so pitifully fucking uncool?

all these bands should be doing club shows this weekend. imho

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 10:58 AM

I did it
Do you think I’ve gone too far?
I did it
Guilty as charged
I did it
It was me right or wrong
I did it

That Saturday lineup is full of some prety legit NPR-core bands. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

Also, why do people keep on saying "at some point everybody liked DMB". Agree w/ 1046 there. Shit is terrible, always has been.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 11:18 AM

Spin Doctors>Hootie>Wallflowers>Blues Traveler>Dave Matthews>Train>John Mayer

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 11:24 AM

khaki clown shit

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 11:28 AM

As a general rule, if a new band got more notice on VH-! than MTV, you should shoot yourself in the head for liking them. And no, this does not absolve MTV for sucking slightly less, but still.

Future generations of hipsters will shower Hootie with ironic praise and admiration. Bushwick chilluns shall be named Darius Rucker ______, and there will be easy listening music in the air.

LOL

What's the point of reporting this if you don't like them? Isn't there another shitty emocore band or Matt & Kim or Best Coast show you can report on? You know, people without musical talent

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 12:56 PM

I wouldn't deny Dave Matthews Band are talented I just personally can't stand them.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2011 1:05 PM

the main reason for hurrican irene was for the Dave Matthews Band caravan to be canceled.

Yeah, he might swing that bag at you like it's a morning-star.
