Friendly Fires

Friendly Fires headlined a free and at-capcity Central Park Summerstage show yesterday (8/7) with Cults and The Naked and Famous. Friendly Fires played a pretty even mix of material from their debut and its recently released followup Pala (full setlist below). Cults, who will probably be able to headline their own Summerstage show next summer, opened the show two days after they played Lollapalooza.

The Naked and Famous, who are already headlining Webster Hall on October 27 with The Chain Gang of 1974 and White Arrows, and playing a sold out MHOW show on 8/12 with Winter Gloves, just added an 8/13 Brooklyn Bowl show with a Yeasayer DJ set. Tickets are on sale now if you're into that kind of thing. All dates are listed below.

More pictures, videos, and setlist from the Summerstage show, below...

What time did the show get at capacity?

Agreed @143.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 1:56 PM

cults... i can be a fan.

naked and famous... alisa, you're incredibly cute, but i literally had to leave after the second song.

FF, we will meet again.

I look at those Friendly Fires pictures and I wonder if this entire generation is gender confused. Are you all trying to hide your homosexuality? For pete's sake, come out of the closet or act like fucking men! One or the other!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:01 PM

Yay! Disco!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:03 PM

hahahah @ BV's humor....

Tickets are on sale now if you're into that kind of thing.

by the way, I have to agree with 1:43pm, FF were excellent although two openers not so much.....

Posted by Takk | August 8, 2011 2:03 PM

@2:01 Just download grindr® and things won't be so confusing as who to cruise and not cruise. Good luck and be safe!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:11 PM

it was 'alot of nothing 'show fo me. Have heard FF live before and besides new songs it was the same sound.Cults and Naked..musicfor the Gossip girl generation.Mission Of Burma probably the better choice yesterday.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:14 PM

The crowd was at least 80% law students from Ohio. Come out of the closet already!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:14 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 2:25 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 3:02 PM

"At Central Park Summerstage, 10,000% humidity. So damp. Band (UK's Friendly Fires) is dripping like undersea creatures."

I don't think we're gonna have a day that isn't 10,000% humidity until mid/late-October.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 3:09 PM

ghey

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2011 4:52 PM

Cults are terrible ... BUT THEY KNOW IT! & THATS FUCKING RADICAL! they just don't fucking care anymore, they're just milking the Man until they get enough cash to fund a sick riot in McCarren ASAP. can't wait to see how much BitCoins they can throw down for the cause via those major label bitcoin deals theyre a part of

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2011 12:54 AM

OMG THIS IS SOOOO GAY!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2011 7:33 AM

Wooo! I see an awesome shot of me up there.

Best SS show all summer. This was a great lineup, although cults were REALLY disappointing. The lead singer was so awkward to watch up there. Someone put her out of her misery.

TNAF were good, I don't know why everyone was complaining in this thread.

And Friendly Fires, of course, were DISGUSTINGLY PHENOMENAL.

I might buy tickets to see them @ terminal

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2011 11:37 AM

Second time I've seen Cults, both the dude (Brian Oblivion or whatever) and the singer suck. She was flat, he can barely play guitar/keys. They need to work on their live show seriously.

Naked and Famous were actually good - not really my cup of tea but they were fun live. not sure what everyone on here is talking about.

Friendly Fires rock and did so again on Sunday.

Posted by Morris Blue | August 9, 2011 3:56 PM

Loved cults and tnaf!

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2011 2:35 AM

People are complaining about the Naked and Famous cuz they're Pitchfork-loving, ironical hipsters who hate anything even remotely fun!

For me, the Naked and Famous were a revelation after Cults' boring-ass set really tested my patience...patience that was already wearing very thin having spent over two hours in the sun.

Friendly Fires have been one of my favorite bands since 2009, and their set made me completely forget the last four hours of baking in the sun. Phenomenal band.

Posted by Anatole | August 10, 2011 11:20 PM

Shit the downside of free things is it's usually filled with people who have nothing better to do and don't really appreciate the bands and you have to wait forever on line. I would prefer to just pay and know I can show up and miss an opening band I don't like.
