Warm Up continued at MoMA PS1 on Saturday (8/13) with His Name is Alive, Black Dice, Water Borders, Clams Casino, oOoOO, Ayshay and short DJ sets from Brandon Stosuy, Jon Galkin, and Robin Carolan of Tri Angle Records (who is also DJing our Chelsea Wolfe show this Wednesday night).

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see anyone on the stage after Black Dice. Did the HNIA DJ come on before them?

comments in bold?

PS1 art was weak as hell this year. more good music to come though.

4:04 - The guy in the hat in the last photo is Warren Defever who is basically HNIA. He's the guy who "DJd" after Black Dice. I put it in quotes because Warren basically played MP3s off his iTunes and that's simply no way to close out a P.S.1 Summer Session. I'm from Detroit where Warren's from and I STILL have to give it a thumbs down.

5:09 - Totally agreed. All those film and video installation pieces do not make for a meaningful art experience unless you're actually going watch the entire films and who in the hell wants to do that on a sunny Summer Saturday?!? Much more of a Wintertime exhibit concept IMO.

Finally...what...not ONE picture of the Gibby Haynes sailor hat acid tripping guy during Black Dice's set? How could any self-respecting photographer miss that opportunity?!?

Well, that explains it for me. I was wondering why only overhead speaker music was played after BD. It was as if the show was already over after them.

Thank you for the input, BTW.

I'm 5:40/5:44 but STILL have to agree with Crosseyed that 5:58's comment is fuckin' hysterical!

Is squiggly oOoOO a new version Gang Gang pseudo experimental Dance?

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2011 1:20 AM

Fun time but the music sucked. Black Dice sounded like ray gun sounds and farts. I kept wishing someone would just play some biggie.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2011 3:19 AM

All the music was seriously shit. A bunch of jerk off sessions.

SO happy I missed, 'oOoOO'. That things voice sounds like a cat in heat being killed.
