Fucked Up

The lineups have been (almost) completely revealed for the three remaining free House of Vans House Parties. The series continues this Thursday (8/4) with the previously revealed lineup of Man Man, Glass Candy, and Crystal Antlers.

As mentioned Tokyo Police Club are playing August 18 and Big Freedia is in fact on the bill along with Against Me!, Japanther, and Team Robespierre.

As predicted, Converge and All Pigs Must Die are the bands that play August 25, though there's also a secret guest on that show too ("xxxx xxxx").

RSVP is open for all of them.

Though Crystal Antlers and Team Robsepierre play separate House Parties, they'll share a bill at Glasslands on August 6 with Balkans. Tickets are still available for that.

Cro-Mags, Fucked Up, Screaming Females & Pissed Jeans played the last show. A second set of Fucked Up pics from that show continue below...

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:22 PM

11:19 Fucked Up are perfectly comfortable playing against a backdrop of Vans advertisements. I don't doubt they would be above dishing out a little p@yola.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:26 PM

xxxx xxxx is trap them as others are saying above. I guess they have to make it a secret because of the other NYC show they're playing in August? Still going to be super awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:28 PM

Disappointed that I didn't see Frohawk, James Murphy, or Daft Punk on the line up.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:29 PM

"ANOTHER FUCKING FUCKED UP POST! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! WHO IS THAT FAT DUDE BLOWING TO GET ALL THIS PRESS?!?!"

I don't get all the Fucked Up press considering they were blown off stage by Cro-Mags.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:30 PM

So the xxxx xxxx is trap them. When you RSVP there is another secret guest. Xxxxx five x's. I'm stumped.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:31 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:56 PM

Yeah! Fuck any band that plays a show that's sponsored by a sneaker company SO THAT IT CAN BE FREE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO COME SEE IT.
Way to chose your battles, children.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2011 11:58 PM

go pay money to see these bands elsewhere, the sound and vibe is shit

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:01 AM

11:58 that sort of rationalization is weak. So my ethics are worth what would be a $20 ticket and some free beer? Do whatever you are comfortable with but don't be surprised when others call bullshit on this kind of behavior.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:06 AM

BV peeps I know many of you are young, so I am going to hip you to a NYC truism. When you get something for free you are being used.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:14 AM

12:14 is correct.

While it's true that Vans isn't exactly Gulf or Halliburton of something, I have to admit something about this arrangement makes me uncomfortable. Vans is certainly exploiting a scene to sell product for profit. Make no mistake the House of Vans is 100% a marketing appendage. Like 12:06 said, it's certainly you're right to do whatever you feel comfortable with, but I wouldn't attend one of these 'shows' and I think less of the bands who play them.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:28 AM

how can i get fucked up to play my bar mitzvah?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:35 AM

^2k and an assurance of a pitchfork mention.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:44 AM

When did BV postes adopt the 4chan steez of being crude but oddly moral? It's kinda cool.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:47 AM

i went to this show, was brainwashed and now own several vans sneakers and dont know why... please help me! my love of fucked up corrupted my closet, oh the horror. i cant believe that fucking sellout keith morris plays vans shows too, he must be raking in the dough.

Posted by GETALIFE | August 2, 2011 12:48 AM

Interesting.... I didn't think of it like that, I didn't wanna go to the show though.

Posted by Bobby Joe | August 2, 2011 12:53 AM

WTF!!? I love that mosh pit!!!

Posted by Garden Shed | August 2, 2011 12:54 AM

^dude ethics, as an idea, aren't malleable to relative or individual circumstance. It doesn't work that way.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:56 AM

vans go juice the x-games bros back west. brooklyn sees through your little ploy. obese canadians don't represent us!

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:34 AM

you stand for nothing you'll fall for anything. Fuck House of Vans.

August 1, 2011 11:11 PM

Exactly! Great saying.

And speaking of keith Morris he and the Cirle Jerks took a lot of heat and rightly so for supporting\playing Clear Channel owned venues about 8 years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:45 AM

I'm so disappointed in Ted Leo's girlfriend. Ted has to be embarrassed

Posted by Bobby Joe | August 2, 2011 3:00 AM

yup theres no corporate free shows elsewhere in brooklyn, see ya'all at jelly

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 3:01 AM

Who gives a fuck if it's sponsored by vans?!?!? All you motherfuckers are posting on this fucking blog that runs advertisements for shows that it will never even blog about (stone temple pilots anyone?). There's a goddam ad for mayonnaise on this page right now! It's called capitalism. If you don't like it try being a hipster in the Al Qaeda.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:01 AM

You corporate crusaders make me miss the hummus guy.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:18 AM

your insipid hummus rants make me miss wit

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:25 AM

I also miss capitalization and punctuation. (sigh)

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:34 AM

everyone bitches about Vans sponsoring the shows but have no problem forking over money to Ticketmaster to go to any other show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:43 AM

Drop Dead perhaps?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 8:58 AM

Standing for something in 2011 means nothing. You wide-eyed idealists need to suck it up and realize everything is co-opted. If you live in NY, purchase goods or services, or eat food you are a slave to the system.

On another note, I don't ever have to see another photograph of Fucked Up again.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:03 AM

>>It's called capitalism. If you don't like it try being a hipster in the Al Qaeda.

while i understand where you're coming from, in the future, should you care to demonstrate with examples, please make them realistic. al qaeda is a militant group. so i'm confused by what you say. do you mean that uf someone doesn't like capitalism, they should go live somewhere where al qaeda groups thrive? or, are you saying the should join up to be a member of al qaeda, and while in said group, they should read bv and listen to fucked up and eat billyburgers and be a full on hipster?

it's just that your point fell a little flat due to you not being a bit more exact. come on, camper, i know you got it in you. be more specific. fuckface.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:14 AM

ugh i HATE when things are free. i mean, like, what the fuck, right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:18 AM

Corporate shills would get shilled in Baltimore. Baltimore is the Brooklyn that Brooklyn wishes Brooklyn could be in 2012. Baltimore, yeh. Baltimore.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:19 AM

you all read Brooklyn Vegan for free, and Vans has been a ubiquitous advertising presence on this site all summer long. So by reading this blog, aren't you selling out just as much as if you go to these shows?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:29 AM

Tokyo Police Club?! Someone knows someone in high places.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:29 AM

I'm with John Walker Lindh on all of this.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 9:36 AM

xxxx xxxx = Daft Punk

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 10:00 AM

9:29 just owned all of you bitching faggots.

but srsly free Converge?!?!? thats gonna be epic

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 10:00 AM

^ Yep. You said it man.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 10:11 AM

9:29 seeing an ad on this website or a bus stop or whatever is not the same thing as prostituting your art, culture and community to a company to sell shows. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 10:14 AM

i cant watch the simpsons because its on fox, owned by rupert murdoch. ok im going to go back to my apple ipod or iphone or ipad.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 10:20 AM

I'm guessing Jelly interns are the ones ranting against the whole corporate thing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 11:20 AM

Definitely Jelly interns or sad live nation employees who would rather you buy tickets for their corporate sponsored venues.

most of the venues in this city are overtly or covertly sponsored anyway (Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch anyone?)

This one happens to give you free beer, free admission, and moves a line much quicker than shows I've paid a lot of money to see.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:02 PM

FULLY LAME POSER BULLSHIT

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:18 PM

12:02 = Vans intern

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:39 PM

@9:14--
Alright, sure, my example was a little exagerated about joining the Al Quaeda as a hipster. My point is that we're all consumers who complain about propping up a society that allows them the freedom to complain. My problem with this situation is that we have droves of anonymous bloggers who use that freedom to bitch about a shoe company putting on punk rock shows. We're all willing to complain, but unwilling to participate in or even suggest a solution. Maybe I'm suggesting having pride for being a part of a country that millions of people are trying to gain citizenship to. Maybe we should be proud of our shoe companies who provide us with entertainment to further distract us from how soft our hands are. We're an anonymous generation of useless mouths. I suggest taking stock in our country and the freedoms it allows us, or finding somewhere else to live.

Posted by Mike | August 2, 2011 12:39 PM

everytime i'm bored

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:44 PM

10.14, you're talking about two different things. i'm simply saying that those on this board who are trashing people for going to free shows because they are corporate sponsored should therefore not be supporting this website. The question of prostituting one's art is a separate matter. And I'd say that any band that hasn't in some way done so....whether playing at a corporate sponsored free show or touring at venues that sell their tickets through Live Nation or Ticketmaster, or signing with a major label or an indie label that acts like one, is probably one that you haven't heard of.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 12:55 PM

^fuck off.

"And I'd say that any band that hasn't in some way done so....whether playing at a corporate sponsored free show or touring at venues that sell their tickets through Live Nation or Ticketmaster, or signing with a major label or an indie label that acts like one, is probably one that you haven't heard of."

This is bullshit. Some of us have participated in DIY music scenes for years and years. Tons of bands (many that most of the people who are reading this would have heard of) don't engage in behavior like you describe.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:06 PM

If you guys are so anti corporate stop going to shows in general/buying tickets of of ticketmaster. Especially ones at the bowery presents, support DIY bands then. I go to plenty of DIY shows. 80-90% of the shit you listened goes through some major label. I have never seen so much bitching for free shows.

btw the surprise guest for the last show is United Nations I'm calling it since the drummer of converge drums in that band as well.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:15 PM

^stop? I never started. What kind of square goes to shows where you have to buy tickets through Ticketmaster.

House of Vans is like a Disneyland version of a punk rock show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:19 PM

^More power to you dude. And yeah I agree but I'm not complaining since it's free (plus beer, water, food) I wish their were no barriers or security though for dives.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:22 PM

Surprise guest is definitely NOT United Nations.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:28 PM

A free turd is still a turd

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 1:31 PM

@1:19--
New York City 2011 is like a Disneyland version of New York City 1971. We're all pussies acting tough, living in one of the safest cities in the world.

Would you all kill yourselves if the secret guest was Fugazi?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 3:04 PM

^this is a winner right here

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 3:13 PM

Newsflash reality check time folks. Since technological advancement has made buying music obsolete, bands have to make a buck somehow. Licensing their music into film, video games, TV and commercials...and playing corporate sponsored gigs like these are some of the few options artists have left. If you don't buy music, then shut the fuck up. See ya at the free Converge show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2011 7:45 PM

It amazing how much people just love music and how happy it make's them.
