Japanther will play The Meatlocker in Montclair, NJ on 9/2 with Cerebral Ballzy (who had to cancel their Living Room show the other night). It will be the first of several NYC dates for Japanther in the month of September, in preparation for their new LP Beets, Limes and Rice due on 10/18. The weekend of September 10th will see a pair of shows from the rowdy duo, including 9/10 at Shea Stadium with Night Toilet, Nonhorse, & Sun Color and a 9/11 show at 285 Kent. Then after two weeks off, the band will embark on a weekend of dates that will conclude with Bowery Electric on September 26th (21+).
Japanther, who celebrated their 10th anniversary as a band earlier this year, clearly have food on the brain with their new LP, which is seemingly inspired by the similarly-titled A Tribe Called Quest LP. Beets Limes & Rice is dedicated to their fallen comrade Beau Velasco of The Death Set (who have dates coming up too) .
All Japanther tour dates and a live video from their recent showing at House of Vans are below.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that stuff should just not be scheduled on 9/11, especially the tenth anniversary of the attacks? I just think we should all reflect that day. Fucking Japanther can wait a day.
I think most who disagree with me probably moved here in the last decade.

I don't think life needs to stop. I bet you anything you don't even know when fucking Pearl Harbor day is without google. We can honor and respect the loss without staring at a wall for 24 fucking hours.

Japanther has been going for 10 years? They need to grow the fuck up!

I've never felt comfortable going to shows on 9/11 either. I guess some do, so I don't think all life needs to come to a standstill. But I lost some friends that day, like a lot of us, so I feel weird going out and having fun. So I ask people like 11:35 to just understand/respect that.

Pretty sure from their flyers that they are making the 9/11 show a memorial sort of show.
Which I think is best option..something to do for the people who want to do something to distract themselves and keep on living, while still hopefully being respectful of the situation.

^stfu. I you don't feel comfortable going to a show on 9/11 then don't. No one is required to respect your private grief.

"No one is required to respect your private grief."
You would have to be a scumbag of the lowest possible level not to respect someone's grief on 9/11. A level so low, you honestly don't deserve to live. Please go kill yourself, or at the very least, fuck off and go back to Podunk, Iowa. You were obviously not living in this city ten years ago.

how does 7 shows constitute "scheduled a bunch of shows"?

That 9/2 show doesn't have Cerebral Ballzy because they are stuck in the UK. Instead, Ritz Riot, one of Brooklyn's up and coming punk bands http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGzHoLMDZ60 , New Jersey Rebels and YOUNG JEDI are playing with Japanther.

If ppl want to see shows, they will bitches.
I lost my dad on 9/11, and I visit his grave, pay my respects, but if there's a concert later, I go. It helps ease my mind.
Seriously, "you people" who think your lives and thoughts should govern the world's fucking schedule need to wake up. People cursing too loud? Deal with it. Your racist and afraid of the various shades of color in your neighborhood? Suck it up. You lost someone on holiday x and think no one should be allowed to have fun? Move the fuck out. No one likes you.
