Norwegian Arms, who plays Cameo tonight, is the project of one "Keith Birthday" (aka Brendan Mulvihill) and Dr. Awkward (aka Dr. Dog drummer Eric Slick).

Tame Impala played "Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind" on Fallon Friday night (8/12). Video of that performance below.

Where are the pics/review from Sonic Youth's triple killer bill on Friday....

if you were there, you know you saw one of the best summer shows this year:)

p.s. did anyone see sailor hat guy tripping while guido was playing a cowbell during black dice @ ps1 warm up on sat?

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2011 11:39 AM

Man, slow night for New York shows.

Posted by Paul | August 15, 2011 11:45 AM

@11:39 - Man...sailor hat guy was a stone cold TRIP! I was having 80s Gibby Haynes flashbacks just looking at the guy! More entertaining than Black Dice themselves were in my opinion.

Eh, Queen Latifah?

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2011 12:10 PM

SY was unbelievable.
The idiots who were complaining / didn't go because it wasn't free this year need a reality check —
This band is marching toward 60 and effortlessly humiliate the VAST majority of bands half their age.

Floating Compass, Sara Lewis @ Spike Hill
Free, 9pm

Posted by Takk | August 15, 2011 12:30 PM

SY, Black Dice, James Chance, Zevious @ the Cake Shop festival. Ah, yes it was a damn good weekend.

sonic youth is great, but how many times can you see them? a dozen is probably enough, no?

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2011 12:58 PM

Just to calm down the over hyping Sonic Youth bozos commenting above. Yes the show was good. I have yet to see a bad Sonic Youth show and believe me I have seen more than you. One of the best shows of the summer? Nope. Sound at Waterfront sucks. Honestly Prospect Park last year was much better than Friday and if you disagree well then you were not at that show.

"Fuck Queen Latifah or the Facts? I'll let thee decide!"
I'll take the Facts for 500, Alex.

"Who the fuck is Yellowman?"
If you stopped listening to Deer Tick and Panda Bear occasionally and during those lapses you jammed on some fine music, you might actually feel embarrassed for your comment too, as I am for you.
