X

Back when we last posted X tour dates, which were then updated to include Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, there was a "Thursday, September 29 @ TBA". Ends up that show, which is one day before the band plays its first of two shows at Irving Plaza, is taking place at Maxwell's in Hoboken. $40 tickets go on sale Thursday, 9/1 at noon. The NJ show, like all shows on the tour, will include a performance of Los Angeles in its entirety and a screening of The Unheard Music.

$40 a ticket isn't and never has been punk rock.

I like the Maxwell v. $40 sleight of hand. Nice try X...

Filthy lucre tour

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2011 11:49 PM

God forbid an artist gets paid - they are obligated to entertain us for free, right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2011 11:52 PM

Billy Zoom is a creepy motherfucker on stage.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 12:19 AM

So, are they OUT on FunFunFun Fest?

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 3:11 AM

rially nice news :)

If X wants to please their fans, they should just suck it up and do a Webster Hall show. That way they wouldn't have to charge $40 so that 200 of them could be there...

X is X. $40 is a steal to see one of the best live bands the u.s ever produced. You hipster weiners stay home and watch gossip girl reruns on your mac's.

Putas.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 8:40 AM

a 40 dollar ticket at maxwell's is just stupid, I don't care who you are.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 8:56 AM

yeah if george and john rose from the dead and the beatles played maxwell's for $40 it would be stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 9:04 AM

^Stupid that they were only charging $40! I would pay at least $75!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 9:49 AM

pay them double, pay them now

Posted by raj | September 1, 2011 9:49 AM

then go to Irving Plaza. X @ Maxwell's pretty damn special.

Posted by donn | September 1, 2011 10:03 AM

Too bad family's coming to town that day, otherwise I'd go to this. And I can't go to the 9/30 show because I'm already doing Primus.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 10:11 AM

^I'll bet Les will slap you dirty during the deed!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 10:12 AM

Seriously, X at Maxwells is going to be epic. These comments are from a bunch of whiny, childish little bitches...

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 10:19 AM

i'm just happy that I can see X and go to ATP now. yay!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 10:48 AM

Don't waste yr time at ATP - Mangum's best gig is going to be at the Loews. You heard it here first!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 11:09 AM

10:12: Usually I prefer Ler to go for the slap on that one!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 11:09 AM

is broom hilda still in the band?

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 11:25 AM

Due to the price tag and the night of the week, this old fogey is choosing not to try to get tickets. But I'm not attacking this - X can do whatever the hell they want. They're X. You're not. Learn to love it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 12:35 PM

The tickets for Irving Plaza were $30 plus $12.50 service charge thanks to Live Nation and Ticketmaster. The tickets for Maxwells were $40 plus $4.50 service charge. The difference is two dollars to see them in a venue a quarter of the size.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 12:46 PM

@ 1246pm true but you can always go to Irving plaza box office to save on those bastard service charges!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 12:51 PM

last i checked the irving plaza box office was open for like 7 minutes on sunday.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 1:16 PM

12:51...Irving plaza now charges a $5 service charge! It is BS you can't get a sc free ticket anymore!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 1:31 PM

"They're X. You're not. Learn to love it".

- said a wise man.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 1:49 PM

X is great, but this wise man quote cliche is just contrived as hell.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 2:29 PM

@131 seriously?! it used to be like $2 or $3 service charge on top if you got it at the box office....

how can live nation get away with this garbage?!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 2:34 PM

I am pretty sure $5 was added to the last show I bought at the box office back in Feb or so when I bought them

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 2:37 PM

2:34 I hear you...let me give you my favorite summary of box office shennangans. I went to the pnc box office to buy tickets for a few summer shows. When i asked for the prices and I noticed they were above the face I pressed them with the question why aren't these service charge free...They stated oh we are not "the box office for PNC" we are just a ticketmaster outlet thus no service charge free tickets...a few seconds later I asked to buy tickets for a different ticketmaster event and they replied we only sell tickets for PNC Bank events! SO WHICH IS IT!!!!????

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 2:49 PM

Can't you just, um, go to the venue and get the tickets there? No service charge.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 3:00 PM

^no pay attention! THEY NOW CHARGE YOU EXTRA OVER FACE!

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 3:03 PM

^ Well, that blows. I always go to the venues whenever I can to get tickets to avoid the charges. I havent tried Irving in a while either, so that's why I was thrown off.

At least this isn't the case with every venue in NYC area right now.

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 3:27 PM

I for sure want to catch these guys on tour, should be a great show!!

Posted by Cheap LA Storage | September 1, 2011 5:04 PM

most of you poseurs were probably in diapers when X was big

and I bet most of you either went to one of the LCD, Pavement or Arcade Fire shows and did not complain about the price

oh fauxhemians, how we love you and your parents' money

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 6:23 PM

6:23 yes I was at LCD at MHOW..ticket was reasonable $20...Point?

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 6:51 PM

6:51 the point is that you are a poseur.

that is all.

NEXT?

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 7:45 PM

Guy brags about paying $ 19.99 too much for a lame band at a lame venue (MHOW).

BV you are the greatest publication

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 8:40 PM

LCD is worth $20 tops. X is worth $40 plus

Posted by Anonymous | September 1, 2011 9:14 PM

^Supply and demand determines worth... so based on simple economics LCD at MSG was worth multiples more than X...who really cares though just enjoy whatever you do listen to

Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2011 12:53 PM

sounds like *;40 was shut out of the show and is STILL bitter...get over it brah!

Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2011 12:54 PM

^8:40 that is

Posted by Anonymous | September 2, 2011 12:54 PM

I'm an old fuck, and I listened to them in the early 80s when they were funky fresh. I am happy to folk over $40 of my hard earned dollars to help them retire eventually with maybe a little dignity. Looking forward to the show.
