"We're going to reissue more stuff. I don't know if that's on the record or not, because I don't keep up with that, but we're definitely going to reissue stuff. As long as that's happening, we're going to keep playing shows. The pace of this year has pretty much put me in a mental institution. It's just been too crazy, it's been too much. And one of the reasons I got burnt out on the band in the first place was I didn't get to do other things I love, like [rock] climbing and stuff like that. And that's the way it's been this year, but our plan this year was to just go after it and do a lot because we were just getting back together. So knowing it was finite, that hadn't bothered me. And that's been the case for all four of us in that sense. So in the future, it's going to be more of a slow burn, and a slower pace. We won't tour as frantically, because we don't have to. We don't need the income, we're just doing it because we like it, and we love each other, and we love the songs. We're going to keep doing it. Our plan for next year is to do maybe 10 weekends spread out over the whole year, that kind of deal. And that should be good. That will open up some time, and it may give us more time to practice and write new songs."
- Matt Gentling of Archers of Loaf
Aside from a December ATP appearance in the UK, Archers of Loaf are done playing all announced 2011 shows. Their 2nd to last US show was 9/8 at Crystal Ballroom in Portland with Sebadoh, part of MFNW (Day 2). Pictures from that show are in this post (pictures from MFNW Day 1 are HERE).

That all said, Matt Gentling might be taking a long break from the road, but Eric Bachmann (aka Crooked Fingers who also played a set at MFNW) heads right back out in October. Sebadoh also have fall dates scheduled.

It was amazing while it lasted, and I'd gladly see the Archers once a year for as long as they'll let me.

New round of dates to be announced soon. Maxwell's will happen.

I would love for this to turn into a Mission of Burma-esque scenario, where each round of dates is thinner, and I can consistently see them in small venues surrounded by die-hards. The Webster Show was great, but if I could see them at the Merc, I'd die a happy man.

For it to turn into a Mission of Burma-esque scenario, they'd have release a new album that's actually worth listening to.

I think they can pull it off, but they can't fall into the boring habit of only playing old songs.

Great news that this last tour wasn't a "one & done" thing. I missed my 2 chances to see them in NYC, so very happy to see I'll get another chance. Love this band!

VERY reassuring! Quality not quantity! Well said, Matt.

respect! I'd rather they do 20 great shows a year than 100 lackluster ones and get burned out. and on a completely hetero-note - man, matt is BUILT.

still want to see a new sebadoh album w/ gaffney, but not sure how feasable that is these days..

Please visit Europe in 2012, preferably Holland. I have never seen you play, but I have been a fan for many many yers.
