Army Navy

Army Navy practice the kind of pristine janglepop you don't hear so much these days, the kind practiced by Tommy Keene, The Posies and Teenage Fanclub. But it's a welcome sound, especially when done right -- like it is on the L.A. band's second album, The Last Place, which came out this summer. You can listen one song via a streaming player and download another via a widget at the bottom of this post.

Also down there is the video for "Ode to Janice Melt" (starring Jason Ritter who you may know from such NBC series as The Event and Parenthood) which is one of the funnier videos I've seen in a long time. Mind you, Army Navy are no strangers to comedy -- their last video starred Human Giant.

Army Navy will be on tour next month, hitting NYC in time for CMJ where they have three confirmed shows so far: October 18 at Fat Baby, October 19 at Fontanas and October 20 at Rockwood Music Hall. Not sure whether those are day or night shows at this point. All Army Navy tour dates are below.
