Edan @ ATP NY 2008 (more by Zach Dilgard)
Edan

ATP SAYS:

Today we can confirm that the fantastic Edan will join the Friday line-up of I'll Be Your Mirror USA, bringing one of his renowned DJ sets to the Berkeley Hotel.

We can also confirm the film schedule as presented by the Criterion Collection - which includes appearances from Robert Downey Sr presenting Putney Swope and Stan Warnow presenting Deconstructing Dad about his father Raymond Scott as part of the Lapham's Quarterly Literature Stage. Click here to check out the full film schedule.

Today we have also updated our Accommodation list - new accommodation options are being added all the time, but everything on the page now has been checked in the last 24 hours and has availability.

We will be emailing all ticketholders in the next few days with a full letter giving information on check-in and other important details - keep an eye on your inbox for that (we will post it here too.)

Check-in where you will exchange your festival tickets for wristbands will take place in the Berkeley Hotel from 12 noon each day. Note if you have a Jeff Mangum Weekend Pass, when you check-in we will be giving each of you a physical ticket detailing your seat for the performance you are attending - this is to avoid people queuing throughout the day (which would cause a hazard and make you miss everything else going on!).

And finally here are the Stage Times for the event. Note that Thought Forms now perform on Sunday instead of Saturday...

Did someone say Spin Doctors

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:54 PM

Wow, seeing it all laid out like this really punctuates how terrible this weekend really is.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:55 PM

I jerk off in my cereal
You couldn't even fuck with the grand imperial

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:56 PM

Spin Doctors don't need these gimmicks. They keep it real.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:57 PM

So we can only see Portishead once, but there is no other music during either of their sets? That seems pretty lame.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:58 PM

So boring...

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:02 PM

ATP should've demanded to include Spin Doctors on this line-up. Not sure if Spin Doctors would accept or not cause they have so many offers, but the prospect alone would have greatly improved the bill.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:03 PM

Tickets to these shows are 200 dollars at least. That could get 20 ppl into the Spin Doctors show on oct 23rd at brooklyn bowl plus all you can drink milwaukees best ice for 5 dollars more

I'll be your PFOK

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:21 PM

The faygo will be flowing!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:25 PM

This will be the best weekend that Spin Doctors won't be able to experience.....

wahahahhahahhahahhaha

Posted by Takk | September 22, 2011 2:32 PM

Radiohead performing after Portishead each night.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:33 PM

There's really no Substitute for an authentic live rock n roll experience.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:35 PM

Pretty great lineup, and far less conflicts than any other festival itinerary I've seen.

Last year there were a couple really difficult choices to make. This year has a few minor overlaps (Beak/Putney Swope/Marc Ribot, Ultramagnetic/Swans, and Mogwai/TSMt.Z), but nothing horrible.

Honestly, the more people bitch about the lineup, the more pleasant a weekend away from BV commenters seems.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:37 PM

Tom O)))) got anything to say about the Spins invading the Bowl on the 23rd?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:49 PM

Wow, the Spin Doctors are really shredding with Roger Daltry. I'll be singing Substitute all day long. Spin Doctors channeled the energy of Pete Townsend and Keith Moon.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:54 PM

"Wow, seeing it all laid out like this really punctuates how terrible this weekend really is."

Wow, you are a huge f--king loser with awful taste in music, culture and life if you sincerely think this lineup is terrible! Now, please go f--k yourself and disappear. Thanks...bye!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:00 PM

ATP is for actual music fans!

BV is now for half-wit morons and lonely f--ktards!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:02 PM

So many of you are so pathetic.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:08 PM

I preferred CB4 to Fear of a Black Hat but that is just me. Is Charlie Murphy confirmed to be showing up on Sunday?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:10 PM

This will be incredible.

I am a little sad about the demise of Kutcher's, though. Particularly when I see these adjacent sets, and initially think "hey, I'll just wander from venue to venue, beer in hand, like last year".

Logistically speaking, using full venues (even in close proximity), there's probably a drastic reduction in spontanaity.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:11 PM

so it's not clear...

if you only bought a Friday pass, does that mean you won't be able to see Jeff Mangum, A Hawk and a Hacksaw and the Album Leaf or just Jeff Mangum?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:13 PM

It actually seems pretty clear...if you only bought a Friday pass, you can see every act EXCEPT Jeff Mangum. To see Mangum on Friday, you need to have a 3-day pass

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:20 PM

A 3-day Mangum pass...I'm sure you understood what I meant though

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:21 PM

Friday passes come with free tickets to Spin Doctors at Bowery Ballroom.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:21 PM

"Wow, seeing it all laid out like this really punctuates how terrible this weekend really is."

I hate you SO much more than Spin Dcotor and hummus guys put together, you stupid stupid fool! Those guys are just annoying, you're clearly an IDIOT!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:23 PM

Wow, seeing it all laid out like this really punctuates how awesome this weekend really is.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:23 PM

I think you could pull one great show out of this lineup.

Posted by chris barron | September 22, 2011 3:23 PM

Only if you have your three day Jeff Mangum Friday pass, not to be confused with the Jeff Mangum Sunday pass, the Jeff Mangum three day Friday pass, the Jeff Mangum three day Sunday pass, the fun day three way Portishead Jeff Mangum pass, the Jeff Mangum Portishead three day pass, the three day two day Portishead pass, the pass on Portishead Jeff Mangum Friday pass, the pass on Portishead Sunday Jeff Mangum Friday pass, the one day Portishead pass, the two day Portishead pass, the three day Portishead Saturday pass on Jeff Mangum Pass, the two Portishead Sunday pass on Jeff Mangum pass or any of the a la carte options.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:24 PM

Which pass do I need to pass on seeing Deerhoof?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:30 PM

Sometimes you just have to pee in the sink...

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:31 PM

This festival is becoming more difficult to look forward to with each passing year.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:33 PM

I hope you people like high balconies and not seeing shit, because if you watch Shellac you're going to be in the top row of the Paramount balcony.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:36 PM

If this is too difficult for you to understand, maybe it's best for you to stay at home!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:36 PM

shitting on your mom's chest is getting more difficult to look forward to every thursday.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:37 PM

@3:38

You get a specific, assigned seat for the Mangum performance.

I'm guessing that's why there's the 15 minute buffer between Mangum & BPB; because that way, they can start Mangum a little later, to cut down on tardy entries, without disrupting the schedule.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:39 PM

@3;36....wondering why you used Shellac as your reference point?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:42 PM

have to use Shellac since Spin Doctors aren't on the bill.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:43 PM

3:42 because they are going on right before Mangum in the other room. But if it is actually assigned seats then I stand corrected. Or sit corrected, hopefully up front on the floor.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:45 PM

3:36, they're giving out ticket assignments to avoid just that. it will be based on the order of check-ins

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:45 PM

Ill be at the Shellac show at bell house Oct 3rd because I heard a rumor Chris Barron will come out and jam with Steve Albini

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:47 PM

3:43 - watch your back!

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:47 PM

this will be an incredible weekend. Atp is usually spot on.. I am not surprised by the boring tastes several users on this board have....

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:51 PM

How many bands will cover "Two Princes?"

Shellac is definitely going to do it.
Public Enemy usually samples it.
Shepard Fairey has confirmed he will DJ it.
Is there a Facebook group yet to demand Jeff Mangum performs it?
The Swans have done a great cover of it in the past.
Any any band called The Pop Group should be good for a round of the 2Ps.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:53 PM

Steve Albini loves Spin Doctors. We recorded with him at Electrical Audio in Chicago, and he had Spin Doctors on a constant loop for inspiration & as a reference point to greatness.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:55 PM

@3:45

Are they doing it by the order of check-ins? Or the order of ticket purchases?

I was under the impression that it was tied to your initial purchase, and thus incentivized repeat attendees. I could be way off base, though.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:57 PM

A shaved head is a decent look for Demitri Martin.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:58 PM

3:57 nailed it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:59 PM

3:57, you have to win your seat based on your knowledge of Pocketful of Kryptonite.

Trivia contest in the bowling alley at 4:30 to figure out seating.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 3:59 PM

3:59 NAILED it

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:02 PM

3:59...see you there, be prepared to take a bowling pin the the jaw

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:03 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:05 PM

Steve Albini just called ATP and confirmed that Spin Doctors are definitely his favorite band.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:05 PM

Have fun at ATP.
I'll be cleaning out my urethra with bleach and lemon juice and sculpting my pubic hair with a bRaUn cRUizeR

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:07 PM

3:57 I have the same question. Anyone know?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:11 PM

Kutcher's was a great experience - the venue and all it's utter weirdness just kind of clicked. That's probably why I'm finding it so hard to get excited about Asbury Park and the multiple venue format. Get ready for some crazy (as in shit) acoustics at Convention Hall...unless ATP sprinkles their pixie dust on a relic of a room. When ever "hall" is in the venue's name....just gives me the willies.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:11 PM

if you buy a 3 day pass you get a box of magnum condoms

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:12 PM

I was wondering if Convention Hall has fixed seating. Half of the appeal is wandering in/out of things. If I have to be confined to a chair, letting people pass back and forth, that'll be a bummer.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:17 PM

4:11 the "venues" are in the same building and are actually closer together than the two Kutchers venues were. That's not to say this won't suck, it will. The hall is the worst sounding piece of suck ever. I've seen shows there. The Paramount is the real jewel. It is sort of like Town Hall, but more ghetto and Jersey-ish. But it sounds killer.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:17 PM

Convention Hall won't have fixed seating.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:26 PM

@4:26

Cool. From there, I'll stand wherever I need to. Last year had some great acts at the top of the bill, but half of the charm was wandering up to something I didn't have any reference point for (like the Sian Alice Group), at 2 in the afternoon, with only a few dozen people watching them absolutely slay.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:29 PM

Than Sian Alice show was awesome

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:35 PM

@4:17, while not the greatest sound by any means, Convention Hall is not the worst. It is better than Terminal 5 for sure. I have a feeling with ATP's system, it will sound a far cry from suck.

Also, the Mangum Seating is based on when you purchased tickets. Not first come first served when you check in.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 4:39 PM

as stacked as you might think this lineup is, it's peanuts compared to the H.O.R.D.E. lineups Spin Doctors were headlining in the 90s.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 5:07 PM

Asbury Park sux. The Boardwalk is trash and the rest of the town is seriously sketchy. Predicting one stabbing, 2 assaults and a bazillion car jacks.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 5:17 PM

@5:17,

While I'm not inclined to say that the sorry state of Asbury Park will affect the festival, I do think it will be a rude awakening for people used to Kutchers.

I met at least a dozen people last year that literally just slept in the lobby of the hotel, for free, with no plans. People sleeping in cars, people on couches, people passed out in the lawn. It was fucking awesome, but if you try that shit in Asbury Park, you're going to get your shit stuffed.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 5:34 PM

ATP NJ 2012
Friday night "Don't Look Back"

Soul Coughing performing "Irresistible Bliss"
Spin Doctors performing "Pocketful of Kryptonite"
Blues Traveler performing "Four"
Ben Folds Five performing "Whatever and Ever Amen"
Moxy Fruvous performing "Bargainville"

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 5:37 PM

I take that back I hope you're doing fine
And if I had a dollar I might give you ninety-nine

Little miss, Little miss, Little miss can't be wrong..

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 6:35 PM

Yeah, the bums in Asbury Park need to be kept at arm's length, folks. And hope the fat white Jersey cops don't decide they feel like fucking with some drunk hipsters. Last place you wanna be is the holding tank in Asbury Park, or worse, headed to county.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 7:57 PM

Hipsters gonna get popped.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 9:43 PM

I think people will be surprised how friendly the immediate area surrounding the venue actually is. True, I would not recommend sleeping on the boards, but you would survive on the beach.

I hope ATP does somehow use its magic to improve the sound of Convention Hall or else yall will be experiencing the shittiest of shit. Though, I've been told they did improve the system there over the past year, but there is not way of improving a concrete brick POS.

Yeah, and at least the walk between the two venues will be quick and easy...
