Jane's Addiction @ Terminal 5 in July (more by Dana (Distortion) Yavin)
Janes

Jane's Addiction played a rare NYC show in July. It was free and sponsored by LG. Now thanks to another corporate sponsor, Citi, they're doing it again, though this time not free and more to promote their new album "The Great Escape Artist" (out 10/18 via Capitol).

Starting in Chicago, hitting LA and ending in NYC, Jane's will play "a one-of-a-kind series of two-night stands". The Chicago shows are already on presale via CitiPrivatePass.com. The Chicago shows are also the only venues announced so far. Stay tuned for more details, but all dates are listed, with the band's new video for new song "Irresistible Force", below...

Has Perry Farrell batted an eyelash in the past 20 years without corporate sponsorship?

These ass clowns lost the only shot to do something good once Eric A bowed out again.

STP > Jane's > Soundgarden

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 1:43 PM

why would anyone go to these shows? I can't even figure out who could possibly care? These shows are the exact opposite of rock & roll. Beyond lame.

Resistable Farce

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 1:52 PM

TVOTR should open

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 1:53 PM

I think by "intimate Setting" they mean Perry will fuck his wife on stage.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 1:54 PM

Look at it this way, it can't be as bad as Queensryche these days.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 1:55 PM

The band without Eric Avery is a silly joke.

Posted by Regular reader | September 6, 2011 2:01 PM

This band used to be AMAZING. That was obviously some time ago.

Saw them on the weekend here in Edmonton, Canada, as they headlined an alt-rock festival - terrifyingly horrible.

The unmoveable objeeeccttt... OOOOOoooooooOOOOOOOOoooooo

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:08 PM

Is today just every shitty band announcement day?

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:24 PM

^shitty bands, shitty venues, shitty business behind it.

still think all of those corporate shows this summer were cool because they were free kids?

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:31 PM

T5 was built for shows like this.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:32 PM

Irresistible Farts

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:41 PM

I got to see the NIN/JA tour when they Eric Avery joined up again. That was amazing but with out him I consider them broken up!

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 2:50 PM

1:43- If you think Stone Temple Pilots are better than Jane's Addiction or Soundgarden, kill yourself.

*laughs at the irony of a message board poster making such a statement*

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:18 PM

how exactly does Citigroup benefit from this?

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:25 PM

unbelievable. that band, at one point in time, was the pinnacle of a mainstream band that couldn't give a fuck and did what it wanted making music that constantly broke new ground.

whatever the fuck that piece of garbage is in the youtube video, i have no way to associate with the j.a. that i once knew and liked.

garbage in. garbage out. stick a corporate-sponsored pitchfork in 'em, they're finished.

The Strays album was really the sign of things to come from JA then on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:35 PM

T5, Bowery and Webster Hall all have shows scheduled on the 18th. My guess is Irving Plaza.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:48 PM

^ For some reason I was thinking Roseland.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:53 PM

if it's really small, like merc, i'd go

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:01 PM

if dave navarro gets murked, i'd go

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:10 PM

completely irrelevant

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:22 PM

it's just sooo over-produced. ever listen to jane says or stop on the radio? it's practically lo-fi, it's so sloppy. that was part of their charm. back then it was written from the perspective of four fucked-up rocker guys. now its all written from the perspective of spoiled, millionaire corporate whores. thats probably while eric jumped ship again. wasnt dave just a judge on some dancing/singing reality show? lord.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:26 PM

^ That fuckedupness and that tension and energy is what made these bands great.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:35 PM

Dilg Navarro is tight.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:46 PM

Daves Addiction

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 5:11 PM

maybe hammerstein? the metro in chi town is like 1500 ppl, so whatever is close to that here.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 5:20 PM

dave MEHvarro and perry Bernstein = DISTGUSTING "music"

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 6:10 PM

^ Disgusting spelling/capitalization.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 8:00 PM

Wow. It's hard to be too broken up about this, but my teenage self would simply never believe this was possible. Time has never seemed so cruel. I actually got laid AT a Jane's show back in the day. Those shows were CHARGED and just peak events. They defined the psych-metal-warrior-poet-thunderfucker paradigm. And now... sigh. What's beyond flaccid?

Posted by markdaddy | September 7, 2011 2:18 PM

5;20 Irving is 1400
