Kimya Dawson plans to self-release her seventh solo album Thunder Thighs via Burnside Distribution. The album, cover art above, features many guest appearances. As previously mentioned, that includesAesop Rock (who she recently toured with), John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes, and others. You can check out a video of Kimya performing album track "All I Could Do" below.
Kimya will play a few Australian dates with Aesop Rock in October before heading out on a US tour in support of her album in November. That tour includes NYC-area shows on November 12 at Maxwell's and November 13 at Knitting Factory. Many of the shows, including the Knitting Factory show, are with the collaborative group Your Heart Breaks, which Kimya has been a part of, but no opener has been announced for the Maxwell's show. Berth Control also play the Knitting Factory date. Tickets are on sale now for Maxwell's and Knitting Factory.

I've seen her several times and she's always fun. She's also an incredibly nice person.

I was introduced to KD's catalog of music though the classic film, Juno. Michael Cera's acting and Kimya's singing are pure artistry.

Wow, imagine if she and Reggie Watts had a baby.
