Primate at Scion Rock Fest 2011 (more by Adam Murray)
Primate

Mastodon have released another video from their upcoming LP The Hunter (due on September 27th). The new video, for "Spectrelight", features Scott Kelly from Neurosis, and follows recent video releases of "Curl of The Burl" and "Black Tongue". All of them are viewable below.

So far no word on a US tour from the Atlanta four-piece, though knowing them a massive one will surely follow. The band has only one current tour date scheduled, 10/26 at the Verizon Theatre in Dallas, TX with Soundgarden. Neurosis, also with just one upcoming date, play this weekend in Portland as part of MusicFestNW. Their show is at Roseland Theater on Saturday with Grails, YOB and Akimbo. Tickets are still available for those without festival passes. The entire MusicFestNW begins Wednesday. Check out the schedule HERE.

In other news, Relapse recently signed Primate, a band featuring Bill Kelliher of Mastodon, Kevin Sharp of Brutal Truth, and Mike Brennan of Javelina among others. No word on when they will follow-up on their Draw Back A Stump EP from earliser this year, but we'll keep you up to date. In the meantime, Brutal Truth are releasing a new LP via Relapse; look for End Time on 9/27. Stream two new songs at their Facebook.

All tour dates and that new video is below.

New Mastodon is wack, they should go back to being a metal band. Curl of the Burl sounds like any dime-a-dozen shitty radio rock song.

why are there so many obese dudes in metal bands? it's is an advantage because they're always angry because they're fat asses?

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 3:29 PM

3:04: They've been on a steady road downhill (although Blood Mountain was a little better than I had initially thought), plummeting with Crack The Skye.

Remission is where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

3:01 no shit. From the looks of it, by over 200 pounds

^ ...and millions of fans.

i wonder if that guys fat fingers it while he's playing much. i would guess the incidence increases as he fatigues during each performance, which probably happens about 7 mins in? sounds about right.

how do they even tour? special van w/ a wheelchair lift?

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 4:40 PM

just the other end of the spectrum from rail thin hipsters and emo kids who look like they just rolled out of Treblinka. Where are all the bands of normal healthy weight?

Hey BV, question: which show is Krallice playing with Wolves next week? I've heard conflicting reports.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2011 5:32 PM

^ I think it's the 9/12 show at the Bell House, from what I've been able to find.
