Shins was impossible. Oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:05 PM

SHINS!?!?!?! NOOOOO! SOLD OUT

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:05 PM

^ yep, fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:05 PM

The Shins show was sold out at 12:00:05. What a bunch of fucking bullshit, guess they're planning to sell them all on Stubhub for three times the price.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:05 PM

Shins was sold out after 10s...

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:05 PM

The fuck is up with Arrested Development

Cannot even get to the event page

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:08 PM

bowery presents employees got all the shins tickets, duh

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:09 PM

Fuck Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:09 PM

yeah, The New Yorker's ticket site can't handle the traffic, lame

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:10 PM

Boweryprsenets must be selling them themselves or giving them to professional scalpers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:10 PM

Seriously, what the fuck just happened with The Shins? That's such fucking nonsense. Mercer should A) know about this and B) fucking do something about it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:10 PM

literally pissed off

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:11 PM

Did ANYONE get a ticket?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:11 PM

why cant i get tix to anything

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:12 PM

It's a scam, watch them show up on Stubhub for $100 apiece.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:14 PM

i cant even get one for AD

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:14 PM

You know BP is helping scalpers when they say this....

There will be a mail and Ticketfast delivery delay for the first 2 hours to ensure the ticket limit isn't exceeded.

Why don't they do it will call only hmmmm

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:15 PM

no one can get any for AD - site is fully crashed. it just sends you to a queue

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:15 PM

I managed to snag two!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:16 PM

I'm not surprised that the New Yorker site crashed. It crashed when tickets first went on sale and managed to charge me three times for one order the one time I managed to pull tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:16 PM

Yeah, like the website that handles 10000 hits a month can take that sort of traffic from the guys who do that many hits in one second... COME ON!

Posted by GOB | September 21, 2011 12:16 PM

two for what?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:16 PM

capitalism at work! who ever is willing to pay the most gets to go, woah!

Mercer is definitely in on it. Since the average ticket will probably go for $60 on Stubhub and there are less expenses, he'll probably make the same as he would for selling out Webster Hall.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:17 PM

Did ANYONE get shins tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:17 PM

Anyone got Shins ?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:18 PM

instead of asking where the tickets went, you should be asking why you want to see the Shins live

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:18 PM

anyone try calling for arrested development tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:18 PM

@12:16 I was able to get in on the Shins and snagged two tickets. Still trying for AD but the website bogged down like woah

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:19 PM

@1218 i've been on hold for 23 minutes (called at 11:57)

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:20 PM

So 1 person got shins tickets? Wow....

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:20 PM

Who "Knee"ds the "Shins" when you can see "Elbow"?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:22 PM

AD is now listed as sold out

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:23 PM

Got bounced out of the refreshing cart at 12:02. Still waiting on a new cart.
They kick you off the line if you call now.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:24 PM

^Sorry, talking about AD

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:24 PM

fuck this day, whats the deal with AD

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:25 PM

fucking $499 each on stubhub for shins

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:25 PM

just got AD keep trying

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:25 PM

500 for the shins? WTF?????

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:27 PM

now to watch stubhub fill up

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:28 PM

is it worth still queueing for AD?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:28 PM

ugh... i was in a cue for 25 min for AD... zip.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:28 PM

they should've made shins will call only.. don't know what they were thinking.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:29 PM

Any chance they're staggering tickets for the shins? Like, releasing ever 2 minutes...?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:30 PM

probably not, bowery lists it as sold out now

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:31 PM

the fact that people care about the shins in 2011 is kinda funny!

when did garden state come out and change your lives?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:31 PM

good thing it won't be this bad for radiohead lol

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:31 PM

25 tickets up on stub hub. That's 1/24 of the capacity of BB. That's gross.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:32 PM

"they should've made shins will call only.. don't know what they were thinking."

Mercer & Bowery Presents were thinking they were going to make a shit load of cash by selling them on Stubhub..

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:32 PM

shins tickets are only 100 on stubhub, man up.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:33 PM

i will pay anyone 100 dollars for an arrested development ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:33 PM

problem is there are no hard tickets. I if you buy off stub hub, it could be a photocopy of ONE ticket....

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:34 PM

now 34 tickets on stub hub for shins

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:35 PM

WTF. some have up to 6 tickets on stubhub?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:36 PM

Not listed as sold out on the bowery site....

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:38 PM

Amazing
Ticketmaster ... high service charges for low service
If these were other times, I would lead the posse to string them up on the outskirts of town

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:39 PM

Queued with a 1 ticket request for 30 mins only to land on an empty cart. Fuck you Ovation! Rubbish.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:39 PM

anybody actually get arrested development tickets? if so, phone or online?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:39 PM

Now it does

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:40 PM

here is the secret to getting shins tickets at a certain time today there will be releases after they go through checking all the ticket limits just gotta figure out that time its not to hard

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:40 PM

got three times tickets for ad in my cart then it crashed

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:41 PM

That's Bowery selling those tickets on Stubhub, even the scalpers didn't get these. Rest went to industry people i'm sure.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:42 PM

The internet has ruined the fun of buying tickets to concerts. Clearly, tickets should only be sold in person at the venue box office from now on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:43 PM

nah just called my broker he got 2 on computer 2 on phone

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:43 PM

@12:40, that sounds pretty difficult....

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:44 PM

So, there are 46 tickets on stub hub now, and assuming they've sold about 50 already, that means 1/6 of the tickets for the shins are scalped. Nuts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:45 PM

Ad: "not enough seats to fill your request" after 45 mins in cue

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:47 PM

12:43(1)

With the money you would have made working, you could have bought tickets from a scalper.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:49 PM

12:44 does not recognize sarcasm.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:51 PM

had 2 tix for AD in the cart.. idiot move by me not "registering" and by the time i hit click for payment the site was so slow i was timed out of my 15 minutes. lost them by probabaly 30 seconds.. oh well

i feel stupid.. and my work internet/my pc is so fuking slow!

whats odd is it was showing up as sold out before i lost my 2 tickets, so who gets those?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:52 PM

whoa i just got a Shins ticket on StubHub for $150!!! keep trying guys!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:53 PM

Good job, @12:53! You're a savvy shopper.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:54 PM

Fuck Bowery, fuck scalpers, and fuck the Shins for not giving a fuck about their fans and insisting on all will call or something that would allow them a chance to buy tickets at a reasonable price. Fuck everyone! What's the Sunday night game?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:54 PM

Yup, football > the shins now. This solidifies it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:57 PM

I can't wait for Radiohead comments on Monday......

just hoping that Spin Doctor guy won't ruin those comments.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 12:59 PM

I think that I would rather never get to the checkout than to have the tickets in the cart and lose them

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:02 PM

speaking of which . . . the spin doctors are reuniting in cotober... they're playing bowery ballroom (sold out already!) and brooklyn bowl (10/23).

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:03 PM

@12:59 Yeah, that Spin Doctors guy is a cunt.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:05 PM

That spin doctors guy makes the hummus guy seem normal.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:06 PM

Tis better to have gotten tickets in the cart and lost them:
Than never to have gotten tickets in the cart at all.

-Alfred Lord MEHynson

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:10 PM

It's not happening, it it?

Posted by George Michael | September 21, 2011 1:12 PM

@1:12 The cart never came up.

Posted by Michael | September 21, 2011 1:13 PM

I work the door at a venue in town, so I kind of know what I'm talking about.... Tickets you buy on StubHub are just as likely to be fake as ones on CL. If I had a dollar for every fake ticket I saw from SH I wouldn't have to work the door anymore. Not related to this discussion, but you can't be sure anymore even if you buy a totally legit hard ticket. Scam works thusly: 1) Dick buys real tickets thru TM. 2) Dick meets you in Union Square and sells you the 2 real tickets. 3) Dick contacts TM, saying he never got them in the mail. 3) TM voids the original tickets (the ones you bought in Union Square) and issues the Dick new tickets. 4) You get to the show with the new girl from accounting you are trying to bang, and the ticket scanner makes that "bad" sound. 5) You don't get laid.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:13 PM

(getting shut out for) THE SHINS (tickets) CHANGED MY LIFE!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:16 PM

My main concern is that Natalie Portman and Zach Braff were able to score a pair of tix.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:18 PM

line around the corner for friday already people camping out to get AD tickets

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:18 PM

did anybody get AD tickets not even one ticket on craigslist or ebay

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:20 PM

1:13 is spot on. That happens ALL the time. Ticketmaster is surprisingly lax these days about voiding original purchases. I miss the days where if you lose your tickets, then you don't get to go. Sucks for you for not being punctual.

TM should also work out a plan for the USPS to give them delivery notifications so they can avoid the "my tix never got delivered" scam. I'm sure they have enough money from those outrageous convenience charges.

Fuck Ticketmaster.
Fuck Ticketmaster more than the Spin Doctors guy.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:23 PM

the worst part is that you guys like the shins

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:24 PM

Kissing The Ticketless
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:29 PM

^ like

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:30 PM

I don't really like The Shins, but I noticed that a lot of you people seem to like them and, well, I really want to fit in so I thought I would go. I was able to get my co-workers to try with me, and we got a total of 6 tickets! Isn't that unexpected and great? The problem is, my co-workers don't really like The Shins and they want the money now. What do I do?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:31 PM

fuck the new yorker... first they didnt hire me... then they used ovation to sell me tickets...

worst ticket buying experience EVER!

can brooklyn vegan so some real journalism for once and help take down the fascists at ticketmater and this new piece of shit, ovation? thank you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:34 PM

I say we get those goons protesting Wall Street to turn their focus upon Ticketmaster. THERE is the real vortex of evil. Let them camp out in front of the Ticketmaster hq while their covert operative plants an EPM in the server room, Jack Bauer style.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:40 PM

Sorry - EMP not EPM

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:41 PM

EPMH

Eric Parish Makes Hummus

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:41 PM

the shins are not worth all this anxiety, trust me

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:42 PM

Just because people are offering tonnes of tickets on stubhub, does not mean that they actually have those tickets (i.e. that a huge proportion were grabbed by scalpers).

You can post tickets on stubhub right now, without needing proof that you have them. Then, if you manage to find somebody who wants to pay 1000 bucks per ticket, then you (the seller) can go out and try to find a pair of tickets to sell onward to mr. deep-pockets.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:49 PM

The Shins were better pre-Garden State when their live show was shitty and that douche keyboard guy through candy out to the crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 1:55 PM

shouldnt them tix be released bout now

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:04 PM

What's "Garden State"?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:08 PM

wow

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:14 PM

still no tix

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:18 PM

thanks for the tip 1:13! I'm going to go try that out

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:37 PM

TIX ARE BACK UP!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:42 PM

ur cruel

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:47 PM

@2:47 I keep pulling up tix. Just keep trying.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:50 PM

Fuck Ticketmaster And Fucking Fuck

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:52 PM

I have been trying since 11:58, and haven't pulled up a single ticket yet.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:53 PM

OK fine, I lied. I'm a mean person.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:53 PM

LIES

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:55 PM

day of discouragement

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 2:59 PM

Oh you pussy Shins fans. Step up to the plate and do what you got to do. There are a bunch being sold on Craigslist now. Contact the seller. Agree to meet somewhere. Roll up with a couple of your friends and threaten the guy or kick his ass and grab the ticket.Just make sure you contact him from a made up account and email from a kinko's or some internet cafe.

But seriously, people making all the fuss over the Shins is seriously lame. You really should question your life.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 3:00 PM

Between REM breaking up, the NewFacebook, and not getting Shins tix, make sure you hug the nearest white person you see. It's a tough day for them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 3:05 PM

Did I hear something about a Spin Doctors reunion???

SPIN DOCTORS!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 3:25 PM

Spin Doctors are playing Pocket Full of Kryptonite from start to finish at Brooklyn Bowl next month!!!! Can't wait!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2011 3:57 PM

haaa this thread inspired me to watch garden state last night

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 9:03 AM

I got 2 Shins tickets by waiting in line at the Mercury Lounge - there were a handful of people lined up but all obvs scalpers, possibly homeless, definitely unshowered. Sooo maybe you all should have went there to get tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 1:31 PM

You should be waiting in line at Brooklyn Bowl for the Spin Doctors Pocket Full of Kryptonite show instead! Line is already 4 blocks long.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 2:02 PM

shins tickets just released sold out again now but its buyers market on stubhub now 103 tickets down to 51

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2011 8:52 PM

yo you know what...this bullshit really ruined my day yesterday. i would ordinarily pay some really high price to some asshole in a southern state who just sits on his ass and buys tickets to resell. but now i'm looking on ebay...i'm thinking to myself, i hope these shitfuckers get screwed and nobody winds up buying their damn tickets. might go down to the venue on sunday and see what's goin on though...

Posted by frustrated with haters | September 22, 2011 9:51 PM

and you know what else, i mean no disrespect to the south, you know what i mean. its just when i was lookin on ebay earlier, the first seller i saw was in atlanta.
