Yeah! Down with T5!
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:35 PM
called it
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:36 PM
well now I might think about going.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:37 PM
They had to make room for Radiohead...
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:38 PM
Thank God. I held off initially, but I'll gladly see SM at Webster.

Steve is crying all the way to TGI Fridays with his baby stoller before Ikea
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:40 PM
might actually considering going to this if it isn't at T5....new album is good. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:42 PM
how's the record moving? chicago show got moved as well. maybe they thought he'd get bigger after the pavement reunion
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:46 PM
who?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:48 PM
What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:53 PM
Webster is like half the capacity of T5. Sounds like someone overestimated Stevie's draw...
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:53 PM
prob the free shows. i saw that shit, don't need to see this
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:56 PM
I was listening to a radio show w/ SM yesterday. The interview asked if the Jicks would be playing any Pavement songs on this tour. SM responded 'well if we don't sell enough tickets."
lulz

webster hall sucks too, though. bad sound and the floor just feels like a big pit. good luck going to the bathroom between holy sons and malkmus and getting yr spot back
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:57 PM
damn, someone on here definitely predicted this. either way, so glad this ain't at T5.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:00 PM
Radiohead T5 9/26
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:00 PM
Does Webster have any kind of stroller parking? I don't want to have to deal with pushing my Graco through the pit.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:02 PM
3:57 spoken like a true hipster
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:04 PM
3:57.... On the KCRW show, he said they might try to play "Speak, See, Remember." We'll see....
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:13 PM
I rather see him at webster hall and I dont care if its because of lack of tickets sales or not.
I just hope Radiohead plays somewhere in NYC when they're here for SNL.
Posted by gone gardens | September 16, 2011 4:14 PM
what's the set time for radiohead on snl?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:19 PM
set time for radiohead on snl = 12:55-12:67
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:23 PM
Are Radiohead gonna participate in a digital short with Andy Samburg?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:26 PM
Pigs they tend to wiggle when they walk.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:38 PM
Since SM is nothing but a money guy, I guess this is the perfect inspiration/reminder for more Pavement shows, since nobody gives a damn about him otherwise.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:43 PM
he should quit before he gets moved to even smaller venues
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:47 PM
ehh, not really true. people like his solo albums. old dudes will continue to see him forever, no matter what touring guise.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:48 PM
I bet bowerypresents was planning to add more terminal 5 shows.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:52 PM
Not this old dude. I'd go to see Pavement shows forever, but I have absolutely no use for most of SM's post-Pavement stuff. And it's not like I don't try very hard to feel otherwise about it with each new album.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:56 PM
so they didnt even sell 1400 tixs yet? hahahha
it would have been better at t5!
more room to move around!

It sounds like coming off the heels of the Pavement shows, and with a new album produced by Beck, that Matador and Boche were maybe expecting more growth than what has happened so far. Fact is, "Mirror Traffic" gave Malkmus the highest Billboard chart position of his career (#43), and was his most critically well-received album since "Pig Lib." So who knows? It's not like he's Deer Tick or something, releasing a new album every year and making 4 or 5 stops in NYC for each of them. He doesn't tour much with the Jicks, so when you think about it, T5 didn't seem so far-fetched, though I am glad the show is at Webster instead.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 5:35 PM
esp cause he sold out those multiple mhow shows like mad last time around
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 7:19 PM
SM wrote some of the best songs of the last 20 years
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 10:34 PM
do you really believe that 10:24?
I know that's what the Matador publicists would like people to believe...
But why don't you go back and actually listen to Pavement albums (and not just skim Pitchfork revisitation reviews of them). They are merely pleasant, ok, bland, a bit above average - spotty at best.
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 10:55 PM
they played 500 cap rooms forever pre-pavement reunion. why play a 3500 cap room, its a joke.
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 2:01 AM
beck > Malkmus
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 5:50 AM
... human shit pile, shit pile.
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 8:43 AM
He also recently moved to Berlin, so this may be it for Mirror Traffic's touring cycle. But I hope not.

Webster Hall lists Mobb Deep on Sept. 25.

Is there an emoticon for slapping your forehead in disbelief?

That photo of SM looks like he finally realizes: "wow, nobody cares about my solo stuff. Guess we had better plan another money-making Pavement tour for 2012"
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 6:04 PM
10:55
we all LOVE your new album. hope you find a label for it soon. then you can be a published musician, like malkmus and pavement
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 6:07 PM
Lame
Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2011 6:48 PM
Webster Hall, ugh... they probably could've sold a lot more tix if he'd just scheduled his show for MHOW in the first place. His solo shows are always great, but Webster isn't his kind of room.

there is no,
castration fear

Man, music fans are so fucking spoiled and demanding in these days of reunions and entire-album performances. It's like that "Simpsons" episode where Homer sees BTO and demands they only play the one middle portion of their big hit, "Taking Care of Business."
How many "fans" does Malkmus have that claim they'll only see him if he's doing the nostalgia circuit with Pavement? Do they want him to go the rest of his life performing only Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain "in their entirety" every night? Is it so hard to believe that people still enjoy his music?
Note to artists: play what you want and don't pay attention to assholes on the internet.

i only like pavement cause pitchfork told me to. yeah right, fuck off you idiot
Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2011 11:40 AM
5:35 got it

Great show, interesting set list..
Bottom line - hearing his new stuff, specifically Brain Gallop, Forever 28 & Stick Figures live made this show well worth it and sometime to look forward to next time they tour here. Animal Midnight and the show closer - 1% of One made were why he is still a compelling artist to see. My Sunday night definitely beat yours..
