Got row a for friday, cc for saturday. Its amazing how easy it is to score great seats when ur not competing with scalpers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:11 PM

Agreed! I wonder how different the setlists will be each night. I don't think of the National as a band that mixes things up all that much, but at a multi-night NYC stand like this they gotta dig a little deeper, right?

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:14 PM

Over 600 tickets for the first four nights on Stubhub; value for those just totally plummeted. They'll be below face value by the end of the day.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:15 PM

do they think this is the pavement reunion tour?

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:19 PM

Orchestra is gone on Fri already??

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:20 PM

They are already stocking the wings of The Beacon with gallons of Scotch and Brandy for Berninger's vocal warmups.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:23 PM

It truly is amazing how much easier it is to get tickets without scalper competition.

Posted by Dan | September 16, 2011 12:23 PM

I guess people seem to prefer their music be bland.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:24 PM

The who??

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:25 PM

SOLD OUT

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:26 PM

Scalper competition? Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that these were the last two added shows of the six they are performing and most people who want tickets bought theirs during presales and at 11AM.

Promoters are making people buy crappy seats for weekday shows only to release good seats to weekend shows an hour later. If something similar was done in any other industry people would be up in arms. It seems anything is fair game in concert business. The concert going public is nothing but sheep.

"If only U2 had a different singer. Someone with better lyrics, maybe a baritone with a range of half an octave."

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:34 PM

"but at a multi-night NYC stand like this they gotta dig a little deeper, right?"

Of course not. After seeing this band what like a 1000 times in the last few years you know exactly what this is going to be.

-They will play the exact same set, switching up the song order and maybe throwing in 1 diff song each night

-Matt will talk about how amazing it is to be playing this venue and to so many people

-His drunk ass will jump into the crowd screaming

-The next day the know nothing idiots on here will squawk about how it was the "best show ever" and they "killed" it

-A week later these same idiots won't even remember it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:44 PM

Surprisingly only 50 auctions on ebay now..not much considering 18,000 tickets..stub hub has more though...

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:49 PM

Is that Brian Cranston in the top pic! haha!

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:51 PM

The National is a GREAT band, sorry haters.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:53 PM

1235 you took the words right out of mouth....

I'm betting they won't change up more than 2 or 3 songs each night if that.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:55 PM

I like the National and all, but 6 shows, really? These tickets will be virtually free come December

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:55 PM

12:51 - no, it's Matt Berninger. A Cincinnati native, Brooklyn based singer/songwriter, primarily known as the frontman of indie rock band The National

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:56 PM

I really like The National...a lot, but in all seriousness, their songwriting formula is soooo predictable. Slow-ish tempo song ending with built-up instrumentation, ultimately closing with a few lines of back down to earth vocals.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 12:58 PM

The National and Bon Iver, sitting in a tree ...

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:02 PM

I have tickets for all 6 nights!

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:04 PM

gripe, gripe, gripe... i got my ticket i'm happy i'm goin'... oh, yeah and in advance... they killed it...

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:11 PM

5 nights GYBE >>>> 5 nights The National

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:12 PM

Amen, 1:11pm

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:12 PM

It might just be me, but that drummer always reminds me of the bald neighbor on The Sarah Silverman Show ("dude, i'm so gay")

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:14 PM

Why didn't they just play MSG?

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:15 PM

1:15 - Daft Punk is already booked for that night

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:26 PM

So let's see, since last May, we've had multiple artists playing consecutive nights in NYC....

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:42 PM

look at that picture, he's smiling all the way to the bank.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:44 PM

Thanks for that update, 1:27. Now, with the sports, here's Bruce Beck ...

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:45 PM

@135pm hahaha totally forgot about them. I remember it was during CMJ so I didn't make it out there even though MMJ are one of my fav live bands to see.

Speaking of MMJ, they haven't played NYC yet since their new album came out....another NYE show @ MSG?

Posted by Takk | September 16, 2011 1:53 PM

a friend of mine said "the national is the favorite band of all the hedge fund, wall street guys under 30 who...actually did fuck us over, Mr. November."

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:57 PM

BEYONCE 4 NIGHTS ROSELAND! HELLO!?

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 1:58 PM

@1:57 - hahaha, so good.

to be fair, they are a really good band. i rented a zip car and drove to philly last week for their 9/8 show. totally worth it.

"they killed it"

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:06 PM

Celebs that Matt Berninger looks like....

1.) Bryan Cranston

2.) Rob Huebel

3.)??????????????????????

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:09 PM

Tried for the wye oak show sold out instantly. Tried for war on drugs and pulled upper balcony. Just gonna get orchestra seats for face on Craigslist week of the show. Seen the national a million times so not worth going for upper balcony for the price.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:16 PM

i never got the national. their songs are so plain and boring.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:17 PM

So glad they didnt do MSG. Not one bad seat in the house at the Beacon.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:18 PM

2:16 - pssss, nobody cares!

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:31 PM

Douche fest.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 2:49 PM

Apologies in advance for actually saying something about music on this blog, but the War on Drugs and Wye Oak albums are excellent.

Posted by Dan | September 16, 2011 2:52 PM

Apologies in advance for actually saying something about music on this blog, but The National are boring as fuck. Does it rank as clown shit? You be the judge.

My comments are being withheld by the blog owner.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:19 PM

there are a lot of posts for a band nobody cares about...

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:37 PM

looks like the BV ad worked wonderously, and if you think they outsmarted the scalpers think again, there will be good seats for sale everywhere with this many opportunities to see them even with most nights packed, there always is

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:39 PM

Based on the commentary it would be safe to say that the shows with be nearly 99% cunt free.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 3:57 PM

about to add 5 more

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 4:46 PM

if you got interpol, you get the national

if you did not get either band, and do not like arcade fire, then you have decent taste in music

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 7:59 PM

The singer is just doing his best Nick Cave or Stuart Staples impression. He has an okay voice, but his lyrics are pretty bad.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2011 8:39 PM
